  1. agreed. would’ve been great to see him make the play but he absolutely wasn’t supposed to be the last line of defense. im very curious to see the poyer tape on the day. And very nervous to see him against an offense attacking on all levels of the defense as opposed to a very contained jets game plan.
  2. Yea, I’m having a hard time blaming a corner for the two run plays plus a miracle catch that was well defended. he missed a tackle on a goofy play call for the defense and multiple guys seemingly out of position on the long run. His miss looked like a symptom not the cause of the issue there
  3. Would coaching not be part of that decision? ”alright Josh - spider z, y banana on 2… remember, the outlet should be open for the first down. Don’t have to win it on this play” is Josh getting that and saying screw you dorsey? If so, it’s a player issue but also a relationship with the coach issue. Josh is your franchise qb and has shown he earned that role. When that breaks, it’s rarely simply “that player forgot how to play and sucks” but instead a systems issue… he’s not a UDFA special teamer thrust into the lineup and not showing ability to make reads
  4. and I’m questioning if that is working. Unfair? is it possible Dorsey was a very good qb coach and just an ok coordinator so promoting him resulted in a step back in both roles and our QB struggling to keep balance?
  5. im honestly coming around to a missing link that can settle the offense between drives With McD now calling plays and Dorsey upstairs I think there’s some gap in sideline presence. I think it was there before the McD transition but now starting to really crystallize this opinion I don’t think Dorsey is worthless. In fact he got great stuff out of Allen. as a qb coach for both guys though. Is losing Dorsey on the sideline with the qb a loss we havent considered in his promotion? Is Brady not giving him that support as well?
  6. is he talking to him about how to ideally run the progressions? Is his communication about what he sees translating to Josh better seeing it? it’s on Josh to but since Dorsey took over these things don’t seem to be happening well. Suddenly Josh is seeing ghosts, has the thousand yard stare on the sideline and seemingly no one getting him through it as he’s often alone when they pan to him
  7. ready… We used to see a great one. the longer he’s been with Dorsey the less we see that. think there’s possibly any correlation to how he’s being coached?
  8. I mean, that isn’t a particularly worrisome sample size yet. Odds are he’s still got 10 very good years in him, albeit not perfect ones.
  9. my comment was more for cook if addressing Kincaid- rookie tight ends never put up wr numbers. They take time as they are digesting a ton. Rarely will a guy walk in and be the focal point day 1. I didn’t see the over under for his receptions this week but I’d guess you could smash the under. He will pop some weeks but he’s going to be more of a 40-50 catch guy than 100 catch guy.
  10. john, you are taking a joke thread very seriously.
  11. When von added to the rotation will hopefully be a real handful for opponents.
  12. yup. They are a tough matchup for our offense. their running game with a few toss ups to elite wrs is enough to hang if they control turnovers. Jets on the road was a game I hated opening with as I think it’s a spirit breaker for us. That it happened without Rodgers…. Ugh.
  13. Often, yes. With 100% reliability, none of them only counter: the jets played fast and have a very physical defense. I think he will look like a star often this season. hopefully we can figure out looking good against the most elite units.
  14. doesn’t an OC largely set the tone going into those plays? are you alleging Dorsey says “34 jet sweep x banana, and Josh remember if it’s tight up top go to the outlet quickly” and Josh is responding “screw you dude, I don’t care” or do you think the guy who struggles to stay in balance himself is maybe lacking in that type of coaching of others?
  15. that play rightfully got the leash put on him. he unfortunately plays poorly like that. have to find a balance.
  16. He used to be historically safe with the ball in big crossroads. what was his streak of red zone possessions without an INT? Do you think Dorsey may have a hand in that regression?
  17. If talking the impossible, sure. If Josh has 68 turnovers TB will be low on the list. but assuming this offense lands top 10ish, and TB doesn’t magically find 20lbs of heft while not losing any speed - he’s the likely consistent weekly issue.
  18. There are some speculating he may have had his bell rung and played with a concussion. Not sure what stock I put in that without a replay of the hit in question
  19. My worry all off-season was he lost a step and behind a bad MLB they would ask too much of him. I think we saw that on both the early breece runs.
  20. No but he will be a difficult problem to solve going forward
  21. I’d run my offense at him too. that said, I’m real curious what the tape will say on poyer
  22. I’d let Josh run in OT too. Take the leash off.
  23. josh had that awesome streak of years without a red zone turnover before last year. the chemistry with Dorsey is jacked up. I would be very curious to bring him down to the sideline for a game instead of the booth.
  24. Totally true, that it could be tv perception but it’s been a frequent occurrence, no? I’ve said it before tonight. it’d be a weird trend for the networks to all create together. We definitely talked about it in the bengals melt. I’ll admit I didn’t notice that and it’d be interesting if a trend. I’ve been out on Davis as a not great route runner who is inconsistent helping his qb… but hoped it was injury related that he wasn’t super sharp or agile last year
  25. what did coverage look like, I wonder. We only see so much on tv… but gabe was absent minus getting called out for a sloppy route on the interception his way.
