  1. Yeah, like that was a lot. You can't be paying your stud young LT $3M per year and then sign some slightly above average guard(Derrick Dockery) to a shocking 7 year $49M contract and also a big stiff RT in Langston Walker 5 year $25M. Letting their LT Jonas Jennings leave in UFA in 2005........knowing that they were going to move Peters to LT..........and then subsequently signing those two UFA's to huge contracts after already making it clear that they would gladly accommodate any player who didn't want to be in Buffalo was like chumming the water for agent sharks. The Jauron era Bills just had no idea what they were doing.........they brought 100% of their problems with players on themselves with their mismanagement.
  2. Yeah he elevated his game as a zone coverage defender last year significantly(finally after two brutal seasons) but he still has just never learned how to make plays. He's just a robotic, uninstinctive LB in a HOF body. He got so many fat pitches playing in the McDefense and couldn't hit one out of the park to save his life in 5 seasons. There is literally no highlight reel of the man. Maybe the sheer volume of snaps played will some day allow Edmunds to turn into an All Pro like DeMario Davis did. The light came on for Davis in year 6. But that's about the only such example though. MLB usually reach their ceiling pretty quickly. I suspect Edmunds will underwhelm in Chicago and be back in Buffalo in 2025.
  3. That's a vast over-generalization. Teams with your fictional "typical #2" .........well, no team like that has reached the SB in the past half decade and maybe a just couple in the past 15(Seattle and Carolina). The bar is much higher for a SB team. That's the objective in Buffalo. The big issue with Davis is that he's the second worst WR at dropping catchable passes in the NFL behind only Zay Jones..........and he was like 185th out of 197 qualifying players in catch % and nobody with anywhere near as many targets was worse. And what helps underscore the impact of that is that brutal passer rating of 80 when targeted. Which defeats the argument that his big plays make it worthwhile to target him 6-7 times per game. An elite QB shouldn't be rating 80 when throwing to his second target. That's just terrible. Bottom line is that Davis is a WR3 in the NFL. He's not going to some other team with a lesser QB and putting up the numbers that playing with Josh Allen allows him to.
  4. The "3rd" one was the first pass of the game where Allen put a slant right on his hands and he just plain dropped it. Excusing him for passes defended and interceptions ignores the fact that he doesn't play the position well enough to get open on the short and intermediate routes that move the chains. When you can't get open on most of the routes in the tree you gotta' be good at catching contested passes at least.........and he's not. That's why he can't be an efficient WR2. Last year Josh Allen's QB rating dropped a staggering 40 points when targeting Gabe(80) versus WR1 Diggs (120)..............and passes to Davis result in INT's more than any other target on the Bills. He does two things well.........run deep routes(like 9's and post routes)........ and then come back to the ball on very slow developing plays or scrambles.
  5. Sharty has shown ZERO juice in preseason.
  6. It's not from a decade ago..........it's still ongoing.........15 years of going out of his way to criticize a player who has graduated from elite talent to all pro to HOF'er. Your wife probably has a point complaining about you........Peters has been GREAT. The fact that Promo is still finding ways to criticize Peters rather than owning the fact that he was an idiot for buying the line of BS that Russ Brandon was selling in the first place is ridiculous(but consistent). There is holding a grudge........and then there is holding a grudge when you were dead f*cking wrong in the first place.
  7. It would be his 19th year in the NFL and he's a coach-on-the-field level of player. He's run every play and executed every block and worked with players of all ages and experience levels. If guys like Kyle Orton and Matt Barkley can step in and play QB for a team with a week or 2 notice why would you even suggest that a HOF level offensive lineman who's played twice as long as they have/had wouldn't be able to learn the play calls with a couple nights peruse of the book?
  8. He's played for that $1.7M level the past 2 seasons and he's made around $120M in his career. But you think that he is still playing for the money? You even used to complain about his durability. Never has anyone been as wrong about a player on TSW as you have been about Peters. You were throwing dirt on him over a decade ago. He's a gamer. If he is committed to playing another year at age 41 there is very little difference in preparation between signing two weeks ago or waiting until after the last preseason game and then assessing the field.
  9. Peters is considered a great teammate. Kinda' guy who would literally stays after practice all the time to work with young OL.........even in his prime when he was an All Pro. When your best offensive lineman does that.......that's the kind of stuff that helps you maintain a winning culture while changing HC's. Imagine Dion Dawkins being like that. Yeah right.......it's a stretch of the imagination for sure. He can't even get himself in shape. But fans have loved Dion until now because he kisses their asss on social media and because the Bills front office wisely doesn't try to get over on their players contractually or negotiate thru the media when they do it. That makes even the lazy underachievers like Dion fan favorites to the dim-witted amongst the fanbase.
  10. Also were good Yankees. Nobody is stopping the Mess fans from starting an annual thread, btw.
  11. Any phrases that illustrate a lack of self accountability
  12. With the competitive part of the season over here is a nice look at a tremendous group of Yankees prospects in rookie ball this year: https://www.pinstripealley.com/2023/8/23/23840991/yankees-prospects-minors-rookie-league-fcl-lombard-delgado-arias-tejeda-montero-serna-cruz-lalane Also Baseball America ranks 7 Yankees prospects in their most recent update of top 100 prospects: https://elitesportsny.com/2023/08/11/these-7-yankees-prospects-made-baseball-america-top-100/ Overall pretty good season for the Yankees farm system. A lot of lefty and/or switch hitters close to the majors.......the lack of which is by far their biggest weakness. The Yankees have beaten up left handed starting pitching(were 14-4 last I checked) but most teams just avoid using LHP against them knowing that their only real lefty bats are Quad-A players like Bauers and McKinnie. Not a coincidence that they broke their losing streak against a LHP.
  13. Aaron Judge hits 3 HR as Yanks end streak https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/38248021/aaron-judge-first-3-homer-game-helps-yankees-avoid-worst-losing-streak-1913 https://www.mlb.com/news/aaron-judge-has-first-career-three-homer-game
  14. @wppete still logs in on June 1st to see all the big names get cut.
  15. So you are saying Peters signed in mid-July, mid-August and is contemplating another return here on August 21.............and you think that his intention was to be available for the entire offseason and OTA's? Are you really that f*cking daft or back on the denial train like you were about Peters being a future HOF'er? Suh will return at some point this year and that will be two years of starting his season in-season........with no camp at all. Did I say they've been doing this for 10 years or something? Try to keep up, really.
  16. You are very observant..........it's almost as if this scenario has transpired this offseason with Saquon Barkley already and now has been unfolding with Taylor for months and you've considered the possibilities before.
  17. Still gotta' step up in that pocket if you are an NFL QB. He has 5+ yards of space to step up with nobody in front and get the ball out. Diggs was running a short route and just needed a split second to get wide open. It's pre-season.......Allen doesn't need practice scrambling right.
  18. I know these kids nowadays play on teams of their choosing almost all the way up...........especially in football..........but I suspect the majority of people on TSW we're accustomed to being assigned to teams at each level of team sports thru HS and being all-in on that team.
  19. And Suh decided to wait until midseason to join a SB contender last year. And says he has turned down the 49ers this offseason but is contemplating another mid-season return. These guys haven't been desperate to sign on the dotted line in the offseason for years.
  20. No you apparently really don't know how this works. Why would you presume that Peters wants to re-sign with the team he played for that season and then go thru offseason activities and training camp? Not only does he have no interest in offseason team activities or training camp he knows that if he signs a contract and then doesn't show up at the team facility he's setting a bad example.........and his reputation is as a great teammate who goes out of his way to mentor younger players. Those actions don't align. What guys like Peters and Suh are doing is well documented and not new practice for veterans in the NFL. They don't want to commit to playing again every offseason until all they have to do is show up and play games..........and then they pick and choose the best fit for them where there is mutual interest AT THAT TIME.
  21. Yeah to me he's like Howie Roseman's version of Jerry Jones' Barry Switzer.
  22. Whether he's capable or not isn't the concern at this point.........we haven't gotten to the point where we are wondering if he's broken or not adaptive or gotten exposed or whatever..........he's just been putting a lot of "wtf" moments on tape where Diggs in particular is wide open and Allen seems to not be seeing that part of the field or anticipating at an elite QB level. If he knows what that route is he has to trust Diggs to run a great route and put that ball where only he can get it. It wasn't a slant or something it was an out route........unless he leaves it to the insider it's not getting picked.
  23. No just in regard to holding the ball too long and trying to extend plays too often...........with a bad OL being the excuse. But people forget though that Rob Johnson wasn't unproductive when the Bills had a good team..........he averaged a whopping 8.5 yards per pass attempt and had a passer rating close to 110 over the 1998-1999 seasons. He was a big play machine and numbers were elite when he was actually on the field and not concussed or otherwise injured for those teams. For reference, Josh Allen averaged 7.6 yards per attempt with a 96 passer rating last season while Mahomes averaged 8.1 with a 109 last season.
  24. It was chaos, that's for sure. Daquon goes to the outside shoulder of his blocker.........Oliver to the outside of his blocker.............and nothing in front of Pickett but a wide open view of the field and 10-15 yards of real estate to scramble left in front of him. I understand that they aren't game planning but........maybe a little communication is still in order? There was another play where Oliver went wide and wiped out Rousseau like he thought they had a stunt planned and Rousseau didn't know it? If they were trying to look unprepared they succeeded.
  25. While I understand the criticism we judge the pass pro at a different standard than most teams because our QB holds the ball longer than anyone. Most teams have to get the ball out when receivers aren't yet open and trust their playmakers. But that's who Josh Allen is at this point..........which is why so many of us were quite adamant about the need to add options in the passing game that Allen would trust to get open or at least not have to see college-open in order to throw it to them. I know you were a fan of the idea of adding Hopkins because of that..........but if Kincaid doesn't fill that role it may be another season of Allen getting further ingrained in the bad habit of holding the ball until the receiver comes open and Josh evoking memories of Rob Johnson evacuating "NFL clean" pockets hoping to buy time for Gabe Davis.
