  1. I know it sounds crazy, but I actually feel sorry for Steve Johnson. I like him as a player and a person. I don't think his agent will be getting many calls from new clients in the coming months.
  2. My friend is a long time Giants fan in NY who knows his football (much better than me) and certainly knows the Giants roster. When I asked him about Manningham he said "He seems to make the difficult catches but not nearly consistent and I don’t think he's a number one go to receiver…but with stevie johnson he could be a nice complement." Another guy, a Rams fanatic ( he has suffered like us in recent years) who also really knows his stuff said "Manningham is a perfect fit for them (meaning the Bills). Offer him the same deal that Johnson got." So some knowledgeable fans seem to think he'd be a nice complement to Stevie anyway. For myself, I always like Manningham when at Mich. Is and always was a playmaker. I think he would upgrade our receiving corps on the outside. I can also see why Meachem was their first choice amongst FAs. Glad at least they are not doing anything stupid like signing someone like Robinson to a big contract.
  3. Agree but if he continues to suck, badly, that will say something about Mayock. He was an incredibly asserive supporter of the Gabbert camp. If he just made a mistake-no big deal. Everybody makes mistakes. But his support was sooooo egregious and unqualified. I have no doubt that with the tens of millions at stake, the politics of the draft maybe get pretty dirty. Maybe Mayock isn't the sacred oracle that many give him credit for being.
  4. I'm mulling Mayock over. Not ready to give him all the kudos. As an announcer, his live action "insights" are pretty much what any observer paying attention should know. As a draft analyst sorry but I just cannot accept his unabashed and vigorous support of Gabbert. If he made a mistake I could easily not hold that against him. Talent evaluation is an arcane science. Everybody seems to make mistakes. What is not clear however is whether he was "bought" by Gabbert's agent, Tom Condon. Lots of money on the table every April. So IMO the jury is still out on Mayock.
  5. I look at Steve and see: 1) A guy that is a much better athlete than I will ever be; 2)a guy who has a much more flamboyant and attractive personality than I have; 3)a guy who has a much better sense of humour than I do; 3)a guy (unlike me) who does not have a mean bone in his body 4) a guy who probably had to work harder than me to develop his skillset; 5)a guy who is a good family man (the fact that I may not have the same qualities/values does not prevent me from admiring them in others) Sometimes I get the impression that some people hate on the guy just because they are resentful & jealous. Well I'm far from perfect, some would say a loser maybe, but at least I'm not part of that MOFSOB crowd.
  6. Rams badly need to draft that Mr Blackmon person. If Atlanta can trade its entire draft for Julio Jones, it would take as much to get that #2 pick.
  7. I saw Bill laughing and doing high fives with Tom on the sideline after that call on Levitre. After reading your post I closed my eyes and tried to conjure up an image of Tom Brady making a tackle. Could'nt do it. Saw him in a pink uniform wearing a tutu and trying to have relations with Giselle instead.
  8. RG3 is worth that jump IMO. More TDs than incompletions in his first three games this year. Probably wouldnt be enuf tho.Agree Luck is likely the better prospect.
  9. Pick Martin and you are probably set at that position for the next ten years. You can then also expand your playbook, more 5 step drops and the possibilty of a vertical game when it comes in handy, assuming you have a QB and receivers who can do it.
  10. I hear you but I would still much rather take Martin instead of say Coples.
  11. I think you're right. Refs said it was a prop. Since when is a Tshirt a prop? They probably got their wise heads together before the game and figured out, rule book in hand, exacly what they would do if Stevie did this or did that. Problem is they don't know the rules (as evidenced by the Florence/Brady incident) or how to interpret them and they got it wrong.
  12. So do we draft Richardson if he falls to us (which I doubt)?
  13. I thought Levitre would be good when I saw him absolutely neuter Rey Malualuga a few years back. Nasty. Nice to see him fulfill his potential. He is one bad dude. I agree with this, sort of. Bell is a good LT (especially in pass pro). Durability is the issue. Hairston was IMO a steal as a fourth round pick. He is a weird looking guy, but I think he has a high ceiling at either O tackle position.
  14. Certainly would not. If the Bills were in the playoffs the Ralph would definitely be rocking. Funny that the Bengals are getting no support. They are just a couple of premier players away from dominating their division IMO. Watch them draft a CB with elite potential to replace Joseph.
  15. Mallet was and remains a very good QB prospect that the Pats got dirt cheap in last years draft. Personally I would love to see him behind Fitz next year, but its not going to happen. Hoyer's contract is up and he will be looking for a starting job somewhere and the Pats will obviously not be franchising him. So Mallet was drafted as Brady's backup and possible successor, depending on how he pans out (which IMO is entirely up to him). If the Bills go looking for a QB this year it will have to be someone like Jones or Foles.
  16. He is not very good in coverage (yet), but he is a very good athlete and if he can improve he will be a steal as a seventh round corner. Aaron Williams is looking like a possible standout player. If Buddy's 2012 draft is as good as 2011, things will start looking a lot better as soon as next year.
  17. Until opposing defenses figured out that Fitz could never hit that speedy deep threat.
  18. Ralph is wrong about Fitz. Surround him with better weapons and his deficiencies will only become more obvious. The QB more often makes the supporting cast better, not the other way round. Ralph and the Bills tend to get things a$$ backwards, and they have done so yet again.
  19. Agree for the most part. If it is true that the only draft that is catagorically Buddy's responsibility is 2011, then I grade him at a B+. Whats more, if he is able to repeat in 2012, the Bills will have turned the corner IMO, whether or not Fitz lines up under center on opening day. Thats really the only glimmer of hope I see at this rather dark time for Bills fans.
  20. No. Stevie Johnson is the real deal. Pair him with a guy who can throw and he will light it up.
  21. Actually the pass was worse than what Corey Webster intercepted. Almost as bad, though not as funny, as the pass he threw yesterday 20 yards downfield and sixty yards in the air. A pot luck jump ball for maybe 10 players on either side. A poster yesterday said the pass where Fitz overthrew Johnson was about SJ's lack of elite speed. Hilarious. SJ is a bit of a flake, no doubt but 1) he is a WR:many WR are flakes and 2) he is also really very talented. After the Jets game Stevie got flamed for the late game "drops". One poster said that was the difference betwen SJ and a true #1 receiver, like Santonio Holmes. Anyone watching the 2nd Jets game should have noticed Holmes dropping passes, including some well thrown balls, all over the place that day (even if he did catch an easy game winner. The truth is they almost all drop some.
  22. Yeah he kinda looks like a little kid out there. Maybe he'll turn into the next Darrell Green (though I doubt it).
