  1. Sad but also true. Hard to understand what happened to him (outside of getting fat, getting lazy and getting most of his money upfront in the form of bonuses and guarantees). Should be a young Steven Jackson. Is miles away from being that kind of back, even if we exclude the passing game (Jackson has great hands, Lynch does not). He is already at a crossroads in his career. Is it really possible that he was in it only for the one contract quick bucks and just doesn't care? Buddy Nix and Chan Gailey will have no patience with this guy if he does not do a 180 degree turn around in attitude and performance and does it fast.
  2. If CG and BN can work some change in attitude and performance fine. If not I hope they kick his ass so hard he flies back to California without a plane.
  3. Chris Chambers NO. Malcolm Floyd ABSOLUTELY. However I also agree with the posters who would like to give our young wideouts and tight end a chance to play.
  4. Ralph Wilson owns the Buffalo Bills. They are his personal property, as most have said. We do not know whether the franchise is seen by him as just another business asset, or as something special. The latter is a possibility, given that his legacy as a great builder/organizer would be better cemented if the team stayed in the place where it originated and his life as owner of this team is after all prominently woven into the fabric of football history. On the other hand, I don't know that you can make a team stay in the same venue permanently anyway, absent community ownership (which only GB seems able to do) so why would Mr. Wilson forego a premium price when his purchaser could realize it? He is a shrewed businessman after all.
  5. Easy to link them. Two storied franchises fallen on hard times led by formerly great men who are now regarded by many as old, mad, blind, despised and dying.
  6. ...except maybe Oakland apparently...forget I said that. Hilarious. Given current events and recent (10 year) history I don't think its illogical to say in the same breath that all NFL coaching jobs are highly coveted, but that Buffalo (and other loser franchises) would likely not be the first choice of anyone with the ability to pick his spot. Someone like that would probably pick the Vikings these days. What happened to your great avatar DC? What was that thing anyway?
  7. I agree. The reporter is just generating copy and probably catering to a widely held, but likely inaccurate view. Buddy Nix is a pretty vibrant 70 year old. Looks to me that he has lots left in the tank. He is 21 years younger than Ralph. He is a seasoned football professional. Chan G is 58 years old. So what?. If age was the only criterion I would rather have that than a 35 year old coach. This HC/GM duo strikes me as a no nonsense back to business combo. Really just an impression but at least its a favourable first impression. Frankly I also like what CG said about finding and developing players and modifying schemes to best suit their abilities (and limitations). Makes perfect sense to me. Don't understand the CG and DJ comparison some guys are posting. Lets be sensible shall we? I doubt very much that anyone could be as bad as DJ was (in so many ways). I am looking forward to seeing what BN and CG can do. I suspect these were both probably good moves that will pay off, maybe even playoff (in the next year or two).
  8. Fair enough. Since he is a good poster best to say nothing I guess and hope he keeps posting.
  9. Agreed. I meant someone like Steve Tasker. Player background, not necessarily active roster.
  10. To me Pittsburgh source makes perfect sense. Is'nt that where Bill would go looking for assistants (Dick Lebeau?).
  11. During the half time show yesterday, and as Cowher was starting the first half summary for the Bills-Indy, Marino started ribbing Cowher about the weather in Buffalo. Cowher said it was great football weather and he loved it etc...James Brown told Marino to behave himself (which I took to mean it had been agreed the subject was not to be discussed publicly, presumably because of ongoing negotiations/discussions. To me, something is definitely up with Cowher and unless he was talking to the Bills just to leverage Houston or Carolina (which likely have fallen through) Cowher may very well be the next coach of the Bills.
  12. Would love to see Kevin Kolb - but we won't. Eagles are sitting pretty at the QB position with DM and KK backing him up. He's under contract next year and I would be amazed if Eagles would entertain any trade offers for him from the Bills.
  13. One the right team (i.e. one gamebreaking WR away from a championship) he can be a major asset. He still beats most (though not the very best) single NFL coverage handily. If you hit him in stride he will drop some but also take many to the house. Does not however fight for balls (like A. Boldin) nor has he the athleticism to achieve optimal position relative to the trajectory of the ball and the location of the DBs in space (this I doubt he ever had in quantity - his athleticism, which is of course considerable, is more "directional" being based almost entirely on power rather than agility). He is a great player on the wrong team. Good marketing move, poor football decision.
  14. IMO he was ok, even good all things considered. Liked his poise with defenders in his face as well as his touch on short passes (inexplicably a problem for Bills QBs). Would have liked to have seen him air it out more just to get a fix on his arm strength for the long ball (intermediate throws to the flats appeared to have enough zip). Look forward to seeing him again next week. If it turns out he is a legit prospect, he still needs to sit and learn for a year or two behind a vet. Bills could have gotten something for nothing here.
  15. You are exactly right. I remember Mike Mayock waving an admonishing finger warning teams not to be sucked into drafting a project DE, in the particular case Michael Johnson (who by the way has as much or more upside than Maybin) with a high pick.
  16. Thanks Bill, I really needed that. I have had many bad dreams about this only to awake to the realization that the nightmare is real.
  17. I see now that Papazoid did get back to you. Re Pro Day - sometimes a better indicator than the combine - Beanie Wells, and sometimes not - Aaron Maybin.
  18. I can't swear that it was true but I certainly recall it being reported. I believe it was on his proday in Miss.
  19. Yes, a good situation. Makes you wonder why Rams FO didn't just sit him down. Don't they need draft picks?
  20. Your call on his fouls in the Titans game is exactly right. The second was marginal/undeserved but the problem is that he is a marked man as far as the officials are concerned. Richie is a good person. Note we are not talking about off-field issues, of which there are none. He is also not unintelligent. A lot of players score well below his 32 wonderlic. His problem is anger management on the field. Contrary to what Ramsfan has said, you are also 100% right about the talent - it is there in significant quantity. If this guy can learn to play under control he is a pro-bowl talent at guard. If he cannot he will probably wind up out of football. The difference to him will be much greater than the difference to Billsfans. Will he be able to control himself - unfortunately the presumption is against him being able to do that but of course it could happen. I can remember an interview with Anthony Hargrove (another ex-Ram basket case) after his next to last suspension. It was apparent he understood perfectly well what the problem was, whose fault it was, and what the consequences might be. AH is an intelligent person too, just like Ritchie. Unfortunately behavioral problems are insidious to correct even when the person is perfectly cognizant of the p[roblem.
  21. Next time we play Arizona I want to see what Rich Incognito does to Adrian Wilson.
