Stephon Gilmore Signed by the Bills
starrymessenger replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Roger Maris was the same way. Used to say "I was born surely". Actually I'm like that too. -
Skip Bayless Says .....
starrymessenger replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hear ya but for a long time Vick was not a good QB either. I'm intrigued to see if he has matured and what, if anything, Gailey and Lee can do with him. -
Buddy's Success in San Diego
starrymessenger replied to Forward Progress's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Buddy is putting a powerhouse team together in Buffalo. There are a few (not many) pieces missing. If they can be found the AFC East passes thru Buffalo in a couple of years. Buddy has just had a great run what with FA and the draft. But he is not doing it all by himself. Something has happened to the organization. We have better coaches. Better scouts. We have Whaley backing up Buddy. We are spending money and taking risks. We are doing things the right way for a change. It is pretty much a complete overhaul. After so many years of sucking I'm not sure I understand why or where the impetus is coming from. Nor do I understand why it took so long. I guess it must be Ralph. -
Gilmore & Glenn High Bust Potential?
starrymessenger replied to 3putt's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nawrocki is the guy who said Cam was garbage and going to bust. He thought Maybin was a sure fire HOFamer. Enuf said about him. Nothing to worry about Gilmore. He is a phenomenal athlete. His ball skills might not be on par with Mo Claiborne but he is faster, a better tackler and more dangerous coming off the edge. He is also extremely serious about his profession and has an outstanding worth ethic. He was a good student and is of impeccable character. For those who have'nt noticed yet he is also extremely confident. He is a very low risk pick with great upside. I think he will shine. Glenn's upside is probowl left tackle. His downside is probowl RT or guard. Also a first rate person. Actually, the Bills had an absolutely fantastic draft. Talent, value & need. Check. -
RD 3, Pick #69: WR TJ Graham - NC State

When it comes to picking wideouts in Big Blue I trust. -

ACC...ok right I got it. -
RD 3, Pick #69: WR TJ Graham - NC State

So he was "worried"? Talk about a panic overreaction. If you are going to move up for a WR why not a real one like Randle. -
RD 3, Pick #69: WR TJ Graham - NC State
starrymessenger replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Rest assured there is none. There is only the homer police. Would like you to believe anything. -
RD 3, Pick #69: WR TJ Graham - NC State
starrymessenger replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Doubt it, but I look forward to hearing the explanation. Like maybe the draft is too long anyway. -
RD 3, Pick #69: WR TJ Graham - NC State

Agree. Makes no sense. -
RD 3, Pick #69: WR TJ Graham - NC State

But they would have gotten him two spots later. -

No. So why? -
RD 1, Pick #10: DB Stephon Gilmore - South Carolina
starrymessenger replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would guess that both Kuch and Barron were rated higher on the Bill's board. Thats the rub. He's a solid pick, we got a very good player. Mayock had him rated #8 overall. -
Nawrocki's "Fit-Based Mock"
starrymessenger replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If we are drafting a guard, it should be DeCastro. Glenn is said to be best in pass pro. I don't question that if people who have seen him a lot are all saying it. What I thought I noticed tho was he has a bob or hop in his kick step that makes me think he could have problems with maintaining his balance in dealing with a good bull rush or other DE pass rush moves. On the other hand I've also heard some say that he is heavy footed, even some of his supporters. From what little I saw of him at the combine his feet seemed very agile and quick for a man that size. Rightly or wrongly I somehow don't see him as a JPeters clone physically and in his movements especially. For better or worse I think there is only one JP. -
Interesting article on WR's in the SunSentinel
starrymessenger replied to DefenseWins's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And G-Tech is terrific at recruiting truly great receivers - and hardly ever using them LOL -
You are right about Wilson IMO. Play action is not only very good, but important in his case because he then leverages off of that to roll left or right with the ability to throw with strength and accuracy to either side. Also his mobility lets him find the lanes so his height (or lack thereof) is much less important, you know, exactly the way Drew does it. he could wind up being very difficult to defend.

If Fitz doesn't improve
starrymessenger replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I guess the hate never ends. Now Mallet is a meth head (oh, I know, it was "reported"). Comical. If he was on meth he wouldn't be on an NFL roster. He would be on the street or in a hospital ward. -
Stevie Johnson Contract SIGNED
starrymessenger replied to iommi's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know it sounds crazy, but I actually feel sorry for Steve Johnson. I like him as a player and a person. I don't think his agent will be getting many calls from new clients in the coming months. -
My friend is a long time Giants fan in NY who knows his football (much better than me) and certainly knows the Giants roster. When I asked him about Manningham he said "He seems to make the difficult catches but not nearly consistent and I don’t think he's a number one go to receiver…but with stevie johnson he could be a nice complement." Another guy, a Rams fanatic ( he has suffered like us in recent years) who also really knows his stuff said "Manningham is a perfect fit for them (meaning the Bills). Offer him the same deal that Johnson got." So some knowledgeable fans seem to think he'd be a nice complement to Stevie anyway. For myself, I always like Manningham when at Mich. Is and always was a playmaker. I think he would upgrade our receiving corps on the outside. I can also see why Meachem was their first choice amongst FAs. Glad at least they are not doing anything stupid like signing someone like Robinson to a big contract.

Agree but if he continues to suck, badly, that will say something about Mayock. He was an incredibly asserive supporter of the Gabbert camp. If he just made a mistake-no big deal. Everybody makes mistakes. But his support was sooooo egregious and unqualified. I have no doubt that with the tens of millions at stake, the politics of the draft maybe get pretty dirty. Maybe Mayock isn't the sacred oracle that many give him credit for being.
-
Good point.
-
I'm mulling Mayock over. Not ready to give him all the kudos. As an announcer, his live action "insights" are pretty much what any observer paying attention should know. As a draft analyst sorry but I just cannot accept his unabashed and vigorous support of Gabbert. If he made a mistake I could easily not hold that against him. Talent evaluation is an arcane science. Everybody seems to make mistakes. What is not clear however is whether he was "bought" by Gabbert's agent, Tom Condon. Lots of money on the table every April. So IMO the jury is still out on Mayock.

Dont Be Surprised To See Stevie Sign With...
starrymessenger replied to BuffaloWest's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I look at Steve and see: 1) A guy that is a much better athlete than I will ever be; 2)a guy who has a much more flamboyant and attractive personality than I have; 3)a guy who has a much better sense of humour than I do; 3)a guy (unlike me) who does not have a mean bone in his body 4) a guy who probably had to work harder than me to develop his skillset; 5)a guy who is a good family man (the fact that I may not have the same qualities/values does not prevent me from admiring them in others) Sometimes I get the impression that some people hate on the guy just because they are resentful & jealous. Well I'm far from perfect, some would say a loser maybe, but at least I'm not part of that MOFSOB crowd. -
Rams badly need to draft that Mr Blackmon person. If Atlanta can trade its entire draft for Julio Jones, it would take as much to get that #2 pick.

Florence "drilling" Brady into the ground...
starrymessenger replied to miserable_fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I saw Bill laughing and doing high fives with Tom on the sideline after that call on Levitre. After reading your post I closed my eyes and tried to conjure up an image of Tom Brady making a tackle. Could'nt do it. Saw him in a pink uniform wearing a tutu and trying to have relations with Giselle instead.
