  1. At least he spends his own money. A few years ago a few Barclay's bankers spent 48,000 pounds sterling for lunch. Stuff hit the fan when they tried to expense it. They were fired. By the way, a couple of 100 k is not the big deal the reporter is making it out to be. If you are D. Jackson its really only pocket change. Still, no doubt thses guys need to manage their money, and its something they cannot do for themselves.
  2. Spiller will be just fine IMO. He is perhaps slow to develop but I believe he will. But he was drafted into a difficult situation with Lynch and Jackson on the team and he was also placed in a difficult position by Gailey looking to put him ahead of Jackson earlier this year. Jackson was already an established player when that happened. Multiple 1000 yard seasons with a jersey hanging in Canton. Don't know whether Gailey was just trying to motivate Jackson (hardly seems necessary since he is the world's greatest self starter) or, more likely Spiller, who seemed at the end of last year to have lost confidence. Unfortunately whatever the intention, it angered Jackson, who is a 30 year old RB who has been stuffed by the system and just looking to be paid what he is worth, which is a lot more than he is earning. CJ is a nice young man who respects his elders, which means he pretty much had to step back from the role Chan was envisioning for him (even if Chan was not really serious about it)rather than assert himself and appear ridiculous. I like what I've seen of Spiller this year. He is aclimating to the pro game. IMO in two years people will not be thinking bust. Quite the contrary. He could very well be tearing it up. As for Maybin, well thats a very different story.
  3. Exactly right IMO. Every effort should be made to retain Steve Johnson. He deserves a lucrative contract. You would be paying for one of the very best #2 wideouts in the game. Given that the Bills are a team needing talent, and you are trying to build something here, you maybe even pay him something more than the going rate. But he is clearly not a premier, #1 receiver.
  4. A curse on both their houses! Schazammm!!! There its done.
  5. Fitz has said that he will not shut down DRs side of the field, and I believe him and I think that is probably the right thing to do. I expect the "quick release gunslinger who always knows where he's going" vs the best cover corner in football to be an interesting matchup of two good football minds. As for Cromartie, yeah he's dangerous but he can also be beaten.
  6. Yeah I never heard anything about a rape at USC. Linky? Sanchez is a better player than people around here give him credit for IMO, and looks to me like he is only getting better in spite of the Jests so-so season thus far. Having said that I hope the marcellosaurus smothers him on Sunday.
  7. All I know is the guys the centre of attention on MNF and the current package is the best they have had since Dandy Don and Howard.
  8. Agree there is a good chance the atmosphere will be decidedly unfriendly down on the field.
  9. Exactly. I was waiting for someone to make the point. Signing him diminished an important Division rival and subtracted a player on their roster who had big days against us. As to whether he is being used properly, like others have said I would like to see him run more options. I also do not like Chan's rule that if the kickoff is anywhere in the endzone our guys are instructed to take a knee. We have some of the best return specialists in the game and other teams are getting big plays on kickoffs despite the rule change. Maybe he is not confident in our special teams play, but then, you know, he should work on doing something about it.
  10. JP Lossman. Its JPs stupid fault.
  11. Stop it! He says he did not have sex with that player!
  12. Chargers/Rivers/Turner suck and deserve to lose. However, no question but that those New Jersey teams, both of them, get the calls at MetLife. Two crucial PI calls on Jammer that Namce and Simms agreed were actually great defensive plays, comical ball (re)placement to force a first down in SD redzone on Jets last drive, numerous blatant holding penalties not called on the Jets etc...the reffing has been just aweful this year.
  13. So not so good against the run?
  14. Now that he is healthy I wonder why we are not seeing more of Kirk Morrison? Supposed to be good against the run.
  15. Well, being from out of state I'm not familiar with your local rivalries. The fans were cool.
  16. I agree the Rams intend to seriously consider signing Lloyd to a new deal. I sort of think we might have done the same. What interests me is our FO's thinking. To put a positive, and possibly accurate spin on it, I think their reluctance to bring in FAs at the expense of draft choices (especially during the season) is part of the Bill's personnel policy under this FO. They fully commit to the team concept. Player's grow up in the system. The team commits to the players in that their development will be prioritized. What would it do to Jones head if after a promising start to the season the team parachuted Brandon Lloyd because Jones was out for 4-6 weeks. Physchologically this management approach is designed to bond the players to the organization and produce the best results for the long term, to get the most out of the players on you team, in the best interests of the team and of the players. Maybe Lloyd would have been lucky to be traded to the Bills.
  17. I too was at the game and funny thing is we were probably just a few feet apart. I was in the box right next to the broadcast booth. On the inside the partition was glass so I could see Simms and Nance by just turning to my right. MetLife is not much to look at from the outside. My Giants fan friend told me it cost 1.5Bn to build, more than Dallas which is state of the art. Says its because of the mob still controlling construction in NYC. On the inside though, as you will have noticed, the sightlines are terrific. Not a bad seat in the house. I tailgated a couple of hours before the game. Section K. I agree Giants fans are cool. They are full of their team for sure, but thats just criticizing them for being fans.
  18. Darelle Reevis is the best cover corner in the NFL and its not even close. I wish he was a Bill.
  19. Dont understand not going after Lloyd. Character issues phobia? Me first kind of guy/ Or maybe just a dumb FO non move.
  20. O-Line is definitely better than expected. Fred has had some gaping holes, especially on the left side of the line. Left guard is playing at a high level, left tackle is more than holding his own. Line remains a work in progress but it should at least be clear that barring injury i.e. not much depth, it is nowhere near the liability many of us feared. How good can it be? Don't know, but I have seen enuf to say that it can be good.
  21. That stupid song was the only thing I didn't like about MNF. Good riddance & get thee back to the trailerpark while you're at it.
  22. True. It was more of an ad hoc type of thing. Screw as you go.
  23. Fitz has been "off" in every game this year. He has also been "on" in three of them. Thats the point. He is extremely inconsistent, sort of hot and cold in the same game, and he appears besides to be very slow off the mark. There have been a few drops, but receivers (like D. Jones BTW) have also been victimized by terrible throws, some of them not of a high degree of difficulty as types go. To say that JP and Trent were aweful hardly addresses the point.
  24. Didn't say he was the worst QB in the league either. Hes pretty good. Main problem - in terms of accuracy he is the model of inconsistency. The Bills FO know it. They would have rolled the dice on Cam had he been there at #3 (and would have won) and they would likely have taken Gabbert had Dareus not been there. IMO Fitz will not be getting the long term dream "franchise QB" contract this year some think he deserves. He may still sign with the Bills, because he would still have a good pay raise and a starting job and because he won't be getting that contract anywhere else.
