  1. I agree. And if that Bills team had managed to eke out a couple of championships, with Bruce's numbers otherwise staying the same, I doubt we would even be having the discussion.
  2. Right. Earnie Shavers. It's wrong to go on like this on the Bills board, but I can't help it. He's one of my all time favs. With regard to his punching power Ali said "Earnie hit me so hard, he shook my kinfolk back in Africa". The great Larry Holmes " Earnie hit me harder than any other fighter, including Mike Tyson. He hit me and I was face down on the canvass hearing saxophonist Jimmy Tillis." Ron Lyle "hardest I've ever been hit: Earnie Shavers. The ground came up and met me. That's all I remember". James Tillis " Shavers hit so hard he turned horse pi$$ into gasoline. He hit me so hard he brought back tomorrow. When he hit me I was seeing pink rats and cats and animals smoking cigarettes.I was in the land of make believe." Now if only Kiko can hit like that!
  3. I'll keep it short because not Bills related, but you're right. Short time line is likely the problem. Tyson may be the most devastating puncher in recent memory, but there were many others before him - Ernie Shavers, who was not a champion, Sonny Liston who was, George Foreman in his prime, etc...Mike also had quick hands, good footwork and technique, but he was a thug who could not fight from behind. Like most bullies he lost a lot of steam if his opponent got over his fear of him. He was a psychological front runner. Football, like boxing has an element of intimidation, but the best players are not thugs, even if some thugs are decent players, like Romanowski. Best heavyweight boxer ever? JMO, Joe Louis- M. Ali. Flip a coin.
  4. Or because he stuck to Womack like an old fly on fly paper and when he finally got off the block Lacy hit him like a truck. That's Warmack. Fat fingers vs Ipad.
  5. Yes. That has been said many times. Not what I was thinking though.
  6. You're probably right of course. Somehow I still think of him as a great player without a position. Maybe that makes no sense.
  7. Just think for a moment about the kind of offence NE runs with TB and then try to imagine Tim Tebow under centre, Hilarious, right? In Denver they completely overhauled their system to accommodate Tebow's skill set. They are not going to do that in NE. So if Tebow is going to play QB in NE it will likely be in short yardage situations, in effect a third down back with whatever scheme diversity might be added by a possible read option capability. Tebow is a pretty fascinating guy. Not only is he a great athlete, but he's a great football player too. Unfortunately for him their is no regular in line starting position for him to play at the level the game is played in the NFL. But I guess that Josh and Bill have the best shot at finding something useful for him to do.
  8. I actually think this might be the outcome. Quite a turnaround for this franchise if it happens. EJs physical skills are extremely impressive. As are his intangibles. His ceiling is very high. But don't sleep on Kolb. He will be as good as the protection he will be afforded. Something more than the 2.3 seconds he got per sack in Zona.
  9. Agree with all of this. Fun to discuss but hard if not impossible to draw meaningful conclusions comparing the greats of different eras. With respect to Ali/Tyson, nothing against Mike but anyone who fails to realize that Ali in his prime would have dropped him like a sack of potatoes knows nothing about the sport of pro boxing.
  10. If he is signed and sticks Choice is probably out of a job, tho MO is a fullback and Choice has been pretty decent as a reserve running back.
  11. Wouldn't mind MO at all. 5'10 225 ran a 4.48 40. Did a good job filling in for MJD last year. One of the best ST players in the league and a pro through and through.
  12. Unfortunately, the kid is a lunatic. Nuff said.
  13. Yeah and same for Jerome Simpson who may well be cut loose by Minny. Will be interesting to see how the Finns make out this year.
  14. That team is a mess. Ivory has the potential to be a playmaker but he's very injury prone. Now this. And Sanchez needs a running attack in order to have a chance of being effective. They are headed for a five win season. Only downside - here comes Clowney!
  15. When it comes to FA WRs history suggests that you are better off growing your own. That guy Meachum that everyone was slobbering over last year will probably wind up getting cut in San Diego.
  16. I also think this means Geno starts sooner than later, maybe day 1. They probably made a mistake rushing Sanchez but Geno has played more than 16 games or whatever it was in college. On the other hand Geno seems emotionally fragile and he is playing in a shark infested snake pit, if such a thing exists. Should be fun to watch. I see the Jets winning no more than 5 games this year and drafting another q b in 2014.
  17. Yeah I sort of got that sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach. Sent me reaching for rubber underwear. Oh well I'm sure MD is man enuf.
  18. Except Randy is 6/4 and ran a 4.25 in school and a 4.27 at the combine. Also Randy was never a physical player. DR can punish DBs. Should make for lots of fun seeing if he makes it this spring/summer. Without the baggage he would have prolly gone in that run that began late in the first with Hopkins and continued into the early second. Not bad for an UDFA.
  19. That is what I think you will see.
  20. Possible. Make the Rams and Vikes think you're going to pick Austin and scoop two first round picks for #8. Browns might beat us to that trade however, especially if we blow this Austin smoke.
  21. I love great guard play as much as the next guy but to pick Warmack ahead of a guy who is a legit threat to make big plays with every touch makes no sense to me.
  22. Any QB selection is bound to be controversial this year. This is a better and more sensible draft than many others I have seen, including those produced by the so called expert talking heads. Good job. PS I love Thomas too and would like for the Bills to draft him, but I also agree that he is a later third rounder than where we will be picking. I don't think he will be there in the fourth when our number is up. If the Bearcat TE is there I think he may be our third round pick.
  23. I don't think we could afford to chance it before the 4th ( assuming no extra picks as a result of trading down) and I expect him to be long gone by then.
  24. Rams are most likely trading partners assuming current draft order and that Browns don't take Austin. 16 and 46 makes the most sense. I'd rather just pick Austin. Now if 16 and 22 were in play...
