I just checked the site and the description (for others who may be interested) is: Channel 33 Hear the first wave of Alternative and New Wave from the late ‘70s through the ‘80s. From early U2 and the Police to Depeche Mode and R.E.M. That sounds great and I'll definitely check it out!

Back when it first came out, I had a CD player/alarm clock. I had In Utero in the CD player and that was my alarm. Let me tell you ... the beginning of Serve the Servants got my ass up QUICK!

Yeah, I think Nirvana and Pearl Jam are absolute locks ... I really can't see how it could argued. After that, it gets tough for me.

On SXM, I listen to the Beatles Channel and Lithium about 90% of the time. Classic Vinyl, The Blend and Deep Tracks get some play, too. That's just about it for me, but I do dabble with other stations once in a while.

I think all of the bands mentioned in this thread will hold up, but not necessarily achieve lifelong legend status like the Beatles, Beach Boys, Zep, etc. I think Nirvana and Pearl Jam will achieve that status to the masses. The other bands like AiC, Soundgarden, Sublime, STP will always be in demand, too. Jane's is probably my favorite band from that era. In 20 years, I think Jane's fans will still be listening, but I don't think they'll be at top of mind for most when this kind of discussion takes place.

Yeah, but my point was that I was a fan of each when they first came out. Back then, the premiere classic rock station used to have a weekly segment on Mondays that showcased new music. It's where I heard both of them. I've seen Melissa Etheridge three times in three different sized venues. First time was at Albany Palace Theatre, which seats ~3k. My sister and I had 2nd row seats. That was when she was touring on her second album. She is fantastic in concert. I never actually got into the Indigo Girls after their debut album. But I still think they're great.
