Yeah, I don't think anyone would argue that it was time. I just feel like it should/could have been handled with a lot more grace. But I don't know anything about the relationship with JB and the university. For all I know, he could have been handling it like a dick behind closed doors.

I’m reading about this in the paper right now. At the post-game presser, JB said, “It’s up to the university. They have to make their decision and it’s up to them.” That was before his departure was announced. That sounds like he was fired, to me. Either way, this unceremonious ending to a career that spanned more than half of this man’s life seems like a real kick in the nuts. He deserved to leave on his terms and to control how it was communicated.

MLB has been manipulating the game for decades in an effort to keep/draw attention. At one time, they favored pitchers. At many others, they've favored batters. Chicks aren't the only ones who dig the long ball. Baseball has made it happen, whether it's changing how balls are made or it's turning a blind eye to rampant steroid abuse.

This is why the combine sucks. All of the physical stuff is totally unnecessary. The only real benefit is the interviews. You can't wreck your knee in an interview. Very sad. Very avoidable.
