  1. but, . . . but, . . . its FOOTball
  2. This. OJ was one of the best players ever. No matter what team. Sorry if you guys are too young to remember. I'm only in my 40s but OJ is in the conversation for best RB ever (after Jim Brown and maybe Barry Sanders). The feeling of wearing a 32 Bills Jersey back then was unlike the feeling of any other Buffalo sports player before or since. Tingly. Super prideful. Unmatched. done.
  3. Thank you for putting this thread out of its misery. /end thread. Go play with your kids or something. Please.
  4. One can hire a QB whisperer, like so many other QBs do. Or, one can work with "one WR" who has run Roman's system before. Or, one can organize a 7 on 7. Or, one can use some technology to train his eyes, or watch more film. Or, there's probably other ways that the FO can "suggest" to him without, or with, violating the rules.
  5. EJ's problem was never arm-strength. His problem is reading defenses, and trusting his reads. This video shows that he is working on his strengths. Not too helpful
  6. This is NOT cheating. Its in the rules. Just because you didnt know it was a rule, doesnt make it cheating. At worst its kinda unsportsmanlike, since BB knows the rest of you dont read the rules. But its not cheating in any way. Maybe we should just outlaw anything that most coaches and fans dont know about ----- That said, I understand why they "outlawed" it. It makes the game slower and less watchable for the fans.
  7. Funny, but correct (I suppose) that Namath is number 1 in New Jersey. But not in New York.
  8. It was extremely boring TV. It felt like half of the 1-hour show was the NFLN guys talking up the event, saying what a good idea it was, etc. Also, it wasnt a combine in the normal sense. There was no setup where guys at the same position ran the same drill back-to-back. Basically, they just showed whatever they wanted to talk about. Sad, boring TV.
  9. RG's problem is that he wants to do it his way. He doesnt want a coach to take the RGIII out of him. He has the problem that Vick had in the early years. I would only deal for RG if I were convinced that he had finally grown up and decided that he wanted to be a real NFL QB, and not just be RG III.
  10. This. Buddy always said "ya gotta draft a CB every year. At least one." Also, recently, Whaley said the same thing. "“That’s a possibility,” he said. “Until you hit on one (drafting) quarterbacks and cornerbacks (every year isn’t wrong) because it’s a passing league that’s an approach some subscribe to and I’m not opposed to it.” http://blogs.buffalobills.com/tag/doug-whaley/ ----------- We have one in Leodis. He may not be Deion Sanders, but he can play. If these guys have a CB who can play, they wont cut him just because he isnt "elite."
  11. In the real world, I think we all know what BPA means. Its not that every team knows exactly which player is best at every draft position in every round. Teams spend lots of time and money to rank players and create a "board." Then, when the excitement of the draft is underweigh, they stick to their boards and draft BPA according to their months of hard work to create the board. I also think it should be BPA regardless of Mel Kiper's rankings. If a guy "projects" to be a 4th rounder, but you think he is a true NFL player, then take him in the 2nd round, if he's the BPA.
  12. count me in. I think we're poised to go BPA. The fans want a QB or OG, but Dawson should surely be BPA at that point, and the one who wont last until the 3rd round. And Whaley (from his Stiller days) loves him some LBs. And I loves me some Whaley for loving him some LBs.
  13. I'd rather make the playoffs THIS year.
  14. Why? (I think it will be Cassel). New system to learn for all QBs. New coaching staff not beholden to EJ. I dont think EJ enters camp as the #1, with it being his job to lose. Cassel, OTOH, can probably learn a new offense faster, based on experience. Not just memorizing the plays, but learning to execute it properly (against certain defenses, the checks, the line-calls, the progressions). He carries a teeny bit more weight with the players, having been a starter a lot. or a couple steps, to come up and join the NFL.
  15. pretty average TE higlights. But I got 2 things from the video. 1) It sickens me to actually root for a dolphins player to actually do anything good. I had to stop watching around 2 minutes in. 2) If you watch all the passing routes (instead of just Clay) and Defense at every snap, you will see that Tannehill looks like he understands NFL Quarterbacking. He seems to make quick reads, AND, once he decides, the ball placement is really sweet. Just sayin.
  16. Maybe he knows (1) other teams wont offer much more money, (2) other teams dont want him as a 3-down LB either, and (3) he plans to sign the Bills' offer, but just take his time about it. Things come up, like the 49ers sudden desperate need for LBs.
  17. The FO nowadays seems to have such an excellent sense of the value of players. They sure do their homework.
  18. Nothing. We're good here. You cant have All-pros at every position,. I'm good here. Draft BPA. You've earned it, Doug. (With the understanding that you did the best you could at QB).
  19. Who cares? As long as we get who the FO wants, I dont care. In Doug I trust. In Pegula I trust. (and by the way, its "TEs" and not "TE's." There is no apostrophe in correct English to make something plural. Even the Oakland A's, when going for their trademark, debated heavily about registering something grammatically incorrect, but decided that "A's" had become their brand instead of "As," like it or not. Methinks it has something to do with the difference between American and English. Because the apostrophe can properly be used to take the place of missing letters, and "Athletics" does end in an "s," or something). https://thegrammarvandal.wordpress.com/2007/07/27/apostrophe-for-the-oakland-as/ Now that we have Clay, I think we're pretty much done here.
  20. Yeah. If he wont move 23 kids to Los Angeles, why on earth would he schlep them off to Buffalo? Cost of living maybe. The opportunity to fight Brady for the division, having just left Manning? Other than that, fuggedaboutit.
  21. I got the Bills for 50-1 right before we signed Orton, in early October, at MGM Grand. I bought it because I thought the line would drop after we signed Orton. But it didnt. But it should have. (it was the first time I ever made a sports bet in a casino, and I've been in casinos since the late 90s.)
  22. Yes. But then you have a potential domino effect. "oh, Chris Borland retired after only making about $600K. That's not bad money to have before your 25th birthday. Maybe I can do the same, then (go back to school, get on TV, go work for UPS, get into coaching, etc.)." And yes, you'll have "athletes" who will take the places of the good players. But will the NFL still be worth watching? Because now, we say we're watching "the best football players on the planet" but in a few years, maybe it wont be true anymore. Seriously. Not caring about my post count, but this is bothering me very seriously. I feel like somebody whose doctor just said "sorry, but its [x disease]. Its treatable, but not curable"
  23. would you rather have a QB who throws: 32 TDs and 32 Ints, or 12 TDs and 12 Ints Me? I'd rather have 32/32. Especially with this Defense. Because 32 is a guy who is going for it. Think Favre (properly pronounced "Favv-ruh" and not "far-vuh". Because Favre does not equal Far. Fav is not Far. The "v" is not silent, then suddenly comes to life in the second half of the word. But I digress). 32 is TUEL. 12/12 is EJ. 16/16 is Cassel. Chicken-ass game managers. The QB on this team has some excellent talent to deliver to. Give them a chance. Stop holding the ball. Give. Give.
  24. I think they tried to address it with the Extra Bonus (whatever its called) where players outperform their contracts. Like how Seantrel got an extra $377K or so. But still, maybe not enuf. The LARGER point is, will players no longer want to risk playing NFL football. Is this the death knell ?? Seriously, gentelmen. This is not Chicken Little. This is really about life / death for the NFL. Do they make it a pansy but safe game? Do they keep it a man's game, but deal with serious injuries? If you're Goodell today, and you have a committee to determine the long-term viability of the game, . .. what now?
  25. I love Tuel. I love his moxie. I love the fact that he knows his job and embraces it. His JOB is to get the ball to playmakers. Not to be a playmaker himself. Not to wait for perfection, but rather to give playmakers a chance to make a play.
