  1. I just read about the back surgery, i take that back LOL.. 8M a year for a TE that isn't top 10.. i woulda brought back Chandler and taken someone in the draft.
  2. Where does Charles Clay rank? I love the fact that our owners have directed management to do whatever it takes to makes the Bills a contender again, but when I look at the offer for Charles Clay (5yr 38M with 20M of that guaranteed). Just to put things in perspective, Julius Thomas signed a 5yr 46M (with 24M guaranteed). I appreciate the fact that Clay will be a good fit for the system that Rex wants to implement, but I scratch my head wondering if we might be mortgaging our future on a guy who probably isn't even a top 10 tight end in the league today. I get that he blocks, can line up a number of places, and has good hands etc...but he aint no 8M a year TE. I think a more conservative and better approach would have been to sign a guy like Jermain Gresham. He can probably do everything we need from Clay and comes in at a fraction of the cost. Is Clay even a top 10 TE, because he'll sure as hell be paid like one if the Phins don't match (God i hope they do) Where does he fit? Gronk Graham Julius Thomas Martellus Bennet Greg Olsen Vernon Davis Antonio Gates Jason Witten Kyle Rudolph Fleener Jordan Cameron Dwayne Allen Dennis Pitta Larry Donnel Zach Ertz Travis Kelce If Clay is on the list, he's definitely near the bottom end. He's not worth the money and we will pay for this in the long run. What are your thoughts on where he fits in that list?
  3. Hey guys, Looking to buy an authentic Bills jersey. I checked out NFLshop and I noticed for big market teams they offer an authetic game day jersey, but for smaller market teams like the bills, browns etc. best available to us is the nike elite. Just wanted to know if they sell authentic one's at the rich? Or where I can get my hands on one (spiller)
  4. Hey Guys. I haven't been active on this board for a while but trust that Ive been lurking around reading your opinions. My take on the bills is that its looking REALLY possible that the 1st overall pick is in our very near future (duh! lol). This is a bad team, and i think it starts top down from the GM to the scouts to the players/personnel. Now before all you Nix fans and Gailey fans start cutting me up, hear me out. First, i am of the opinion that you don't trade lynch and you don't draft spiller in the first round PERIOD. Not when your a team that has a legit starter in Lynch and a very serviceable Freddy Jackson coming off a 1000+ yard season. If we could agree on any position that the bills were set on, RB would be the consensus. From what I've seen of the bills leading up to this season, we needed help in a LOT of areas, and trading the 9th pick in the draft to land more early round selections would have made sense IMO. Anyways, that said.. i strongly believe (and will continue to unless recent evidence comes to prove otherwise) that we were offered more than a 4th for Lynch this past draft. So this trade was a loss! Secondly, the team drafted troup w/ our 2nd pick. One would expect that a 2nd round pick is definitely gonna be a starter for your squad, but i have barely seen the kid touch the field..this ALREADY tells me that Nix doesn't got a CLUE! Mike Mayock who i think is probably the most legit college analyst out there, had 3-4 other DT rated ahead of him and its clear to see he was right. Moving on to another bonehead move by nix, he chose to get into a bidding contest with himself for the service of Chris Kelsay. A serviceable defensive player for the bills, who probably would not start on the majority of NFL teams in this league. Paying him 24million is ludacris for his production. I watched the jets game closely last week, dude does not belong on an NFL field playing LB. Honestly, how can I take him serious after this move. Im going to give Gailey the benefit of the doubt. He really came out of left field when he was announced as the head coach. I was hoping the bills go for Marc Tresman of the Montreal Alouettes, he's been coaching them to championships year after year. But for now, Ill be patient with Gailey. I really thought the organization was going in the right direction when we drafted Wood and Levitre, I was like FINALLY the team is going to address this horrible line. Losing peters has hurt, but completing ignoring this line in the draft will hurt us more (i woulda loved to see bruce campbell in a bills uni). BTW it really erks me how we've had so many misses in the first few rounds of the draft. James Hardy, Roscoe Parrish, maybin etc Anyways, a lot of what I am saying has already happened and been touched on. I just hope we get locker, and draft OT maybe pick up another WR early in the draft as well.
  5. Talent in terms of WR is more than sufficient. We have gone through many a OC and different playbooks i assume.. But the one thing i've noticed in common between JP and TE for a while now in comparison to other above avg/elite QB's in the league is trust in their WR's. Watching the mannings, brees, rivers, even warner when he's got time...u'll notice they trust their WR. They throw the ball even before the WR makes their break in anticipation of where they are giong to be... basically they LET the WR make the play. I remember moss saying back in the day, just throw it up and i'll go get it...thats the vibe i get from these QB's and its clear in their play. They have built that rapport Watching JP and TE over the years, you'll notice that they dont trust their WR's. They ONLY throw the ball exact when the WR makes the hook...The ball arrives a few seconds late, and its a catch...but its rarely a play where the WR is shocked to get the ball if u get my drift? Iono speak on it
  6. I know we are deep at corner, but in this league u need atleast 3 that are capable to hold their own. Especially with the frequency of injuries and what not. I know we got youtoby, but i don't think he can hold greer's water. He was coming along sooo good tho, it totally sucks being a farm team in this league! Ps i would probably start him over mcgee, just because i like his size, and his speed is pretty good (since he used to be a track star at tenn i believe). aw well, no sense in cryin over spilt milk, i'm done lol
  7. experiment with players who have underachieved in their initial position with the team. The first name that comes to mind is.. Donte Whitner - He's a great locker room guy, has strong leadership qualities, and many of times I have seen the team huddle around him when he rallies the defense. - I'll give credit where its due, Whitner is solid against the run. On many occasions he has done an excellent job of blitzing and stopping the RB at or before the LOS, as well as showing a decent pass rushing skills. But the fact remains, dude is HORRIBLE against the pass, and this past week against the Jets magnified his weakness. Favre had a terrible game, but the only success he had was with the WR/TE that was being covered by Whitner. A few seasons ago we signed Jason Peters as a TE, he ballooned up over the off season while maintain his agility and solid footwork translating into a solid Tackle in the league, some would argue easily top 5 in the NFL. Why get the training staff to help Whitner put on some weight properly, and move him to OLB. His coverage skills are bad, but i think comparable to any OLB in the league. I know his height may be an issue, but at SS he's just not cutting it. What do you guys think?
  8. Why on God's green earth, with the offensive line FOR ONCE actually appearing to control the line of scrimmage and get a significant push, did we resort to not ONE but TWO pass plays just 2-3yards away from the endzone. I don't understand, i just don't. Marshawn had a fabolous game! Dockery and Peters had their best games of the season I thought (aside from the block in the back on Dockery) in terms of controlling the line and creating gaping holes. 4 trips to the endzone, not one attempt to carry the ball with Lynch and Co. I'm baffled...and yeaa... - This season, can be measured up by two games. Not who we beat, but who beat us.. San Fran and the Browns...maybe we're not there just yet. - Edwards had a horrible month stretch of football. When he's on, you gotta love him, but when he's off dude stays ice cool for a while...and that doesn't make you feel too optimistic about him or JP for that matter - Duke preston, aside from the fumble play appears to be playing better and getting comfortable in the center position. Yea he got blown up and beat up by Jenkins, but come to think of it, who hasn't gotten beat by Jenkins? - Lots of dinks and dunks this game, and lots of drop balls by Lynch, the FB (i don't even care what his name is), Jackson had that drop on that screen play with no one even in a 5 yr radius. - Our needs on D seem pretty clear, Ellison is just wack i'm sorry. We need a threat at OLB, a pash rusher/ good tackler. We also are in need of another formidable DT to play along side stroud. And ONE defensive end that can get decent pressure before we can start calling this defence a DEFENCE. Don't get me wrong, they didn't play half bad this week...but again it was the 49ers' they're suppose to get man handled. And Hill shouldn't be moving the ball so easy with Bruce (yea called him ageless, but he beat mckelvin BADDD lool) Thats pretty much it on my end
  9. in 2007 we picked up FA's to help bolster our O-line Langston Walker and Derrick Dockery This year, the Jets picked up Alan Faneca and Damien Woody If you had a choice between either of the two options...who would you prefer
  10. As far as Lee Evans being considered as good as Santana Moss, L. Coles or Steve Smith... Lets be real folks... Steve Smith is a Top 3 wideout, point blank PERIOD! So take him out of the equation As far as S. Moss, i think he brings a lot more to the table than Lee. I find he's a playermaker. He can return punts and take them all the way to the house. He can do the same with a reverse, he does a lot with screen plays. I just like the way the skins use him, he's a TOTAL threat. Whereas lee, beats you with the same play every week and you gotta give him credit for that. But the thing that separates Lee from these two wideouts, is their ability to consistently take a 5,10,15,20 yard pass to the house. How often have you seen lee do that?? Lee will beat you going deep, thats a given! But steve and moss can beat you deep just as well as Lee can, but they do those things that you gotta admire with slants and hitch routes and its fun to watch. Coles is just meh...doesn't really impress me. I'd take Lee over him anyday.. And moss of lee? lol is that even a serious question...obvious randy in a heartbeat
  11. Oline -In terms of pass protection this team done better than what expected initially. Sometimes it seems as if TE has all day back there to go through his progression. - Our run blocking is horrendous. And considering we got one of hte most beefiest Oline's in the league. Thats pretty wack, these guys should be bodying their opposition and having their way with them on the LOS. -Jason Peters appears like he is regressing. He went from almost never getting beat last season, sure fire probowler and elite LT to now..getting beat at once or twice a game whereby the passrusher goes right through him ala Joey Porter did for the safety. I think most of the blame goes to him missing training camp but yea... - Dockery...wow, I don't know what to say about this guy. If i remember correctly, he got a pretty decent contract 5-6million per year. Dude hasn't impressed me at all, his play is average at best. I really wish we could have signed Steinbach when he became a FA (now with the browns i think). - These two players are suppose to be our allpro's. What comes to mind is when we need that all important 1 yard to convert a 3rd or score...everyone should know who we are running behind. But i just don't feel as confident with them like I was season. - Folwer average. - Brad Butler= VALUE! But he should be a backup. - Walker, I have had no problems with his play. He has been a bright spot IMHO. TE- Wow, Robert Royal is a team captain folks! Just found that out recently watching Off the Record with Michael Landsberg. No comment. The man's play speaks for itself. DLine - Is it just me or is stroud appearing to have less of an impact? Or are teams just doubling/tripling him? Either way, his first couple of games he was a menace and now he's almost non existant. - The rest of the guys are pretty average aside from Schoebel. YOu can tell that we miss him. Anderson has been playing solid. Secondary - I think it would have been a wise move to have put mcgee in the nickel position for his firs week back to game action. He got BURNED. I have never seen the kidd get beat as badly as he was against the phins. I was feeling for him, really i was! - Gotta love whitner, dude is a straight STEAL! - Greer is becoming a lockdown corner, i think we need to sign the kidd long term.
  12. i guess the article i was reading was outdated. Because it stated that Larry was a free agent at the end of the season. my bad folks... but the question still stands...9mill for Lee evans considering the quality of other WR in the league..
  13. Im sorry, i love the guy. I think he's been a solid player for him, no off the field issues, he wants to win. He's got everything you want in a player. With that being said, he was seriously compensated for his services to a tune of 9million a season!!! Making him i believe the highest paid WR in the game right now... For a guy that is mainly known as a deep threat wideout, not yet thought of in the league as a complete threat. Teams pretty much strategize for him by taking away his deep ball threat. I consider him the poor man's steve smith..he's good but not Steve Smith GOOD! The question I ask you guys, is do you think Lee was worth 9million. Especially with a guy like Larry Fitzgerald becoming available for free agency at the end of the season?? Assuming of course he doesn't extend with Arizona.. I think we should have held off signing the kid and waited to see how the situation with larry panned out. If Larry signed before the end of the season, I think that would be a good time to sign Lee. again what do you guys think?
  14. with losing 17 players last season to injuries, you really start to appreciate depth and luck! (luck as in staying healthy). Last week we lose McGee, who has been playing amazing football for us. Jabari Greer has played at a level beyond anyone of us could have ever anticipated since being picked up by us and i`m sure the 32 other NFL teams wished they drafted the kid. Something has suddenly clicked for Ashton Y and he seems to `get it.` Both players are capable of starting and taking on top talent in this league, and luckily we got McKelvin to step up and gain some valuable experience and playtime in the nickel position. As good as Freddie Action Jackson played on punt returns, I would like to see McKelvin handling PR as well as KR duties for the bills. McKelvin is about to earn his 1st round draft pick slot! Stay tuned folks
