So we're moving on from Harbaugh right?
section122 replied to section122's topic in The Stadium Wall
To the bolded I think with so much luck involved you just have to make sure you have a good QB and a good coach. As long as you have those 2 things, you just keep taking cracks at it. There are some wild Super Bowl stats I pulled together a couple of years ago but the main one is this; there is only 1 active head coach with more than 1 super bowl win (Reid) and only McVay, Payton, Tomlin, Harbaugh, and McCarthy (if you count him) have any super bowl wins. So 5 or 6 active HCs have a super bowl win on their resume. It is a hard mountain to climb. -

Totally agree and it's an unfortunate side effect of the single elimination tournament. So much has to go right in each game to reach and win the super bowl. I'll admit I was full on "I don't want to face the Bengals" then the season ends and they fired Lou lol. Weirdly the Bengals get knocked less for missing the playoffs repeatedly than the Bills and Ravens do for losing in the playoffs. Different sport but similar to Jordan's 6-0 in the Finals vs LeBron having lost so many times. -
Personally, this Ravens matchup is my "McDermott Game."

This is so crazy. Yes teams would love to have him as their HC. Do you really think Dan Campbell and his 2 playoff wins in 4 years as a HC are above reproach and they wouldn't gladly take McD? Why because he has fun sound bites? Zac Taylor and his 3 last place finishes in HIS OWN DIVISION and missing playoffs 4 of his 6 years are so much better than McD? Why because he made a super bowl once? Harbaugh and his 4-7 playoff record with a 3 time MVP? Why because he won a super bowl 12 years ago? Step outside of your fan bubble. McD is one of the most successful coaches in the league. Since Allen has become Allen he has lost to Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid who nobody would say he is better than. Then the loss to the Bengals after a player on the team literally died on the field. How am I on a Bills fan message board defending the HC as they prepare for the AFC championship game?!?!? After just beating a team filled with All Pros and a coach on your "this team wouldn't take McDermott" list?!?!- 268 replies

The AFC is such a murderer's row of QBs. Between Allen, Jackson, Mahomes, and Burrow that is a lot of talent. It makes what the Chiefs have done so impressive. I really wish someone would poach Spags to be their HC lol. I actually would be fine if the same people that wanted McD fired also thought Harbaugh should be fired but he is consistently ranked higher than McD by many on this board and I don't understand why. If you use the same measuring stick, McD has had more success than him. -
What % of the plays will we play 3 LBs on Sunday?
section122 replied to NewEra's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think this is something they have to continue against the chiefs. Belichick always hit Kelce at the line and it disrupted their timing. I'm glad it seemed to work so well and they continue the strategy. -

Wondering if anyone's thoughts have changed? I started this thread as a sort of tongue in cheek thread to the McD haters last year but here we are again. Soon to be 3 time MVP, roster that had 6 All Pros, losses to the Raiders and Browns this season that cost them home field, ending with a loss to McD and the Bills. He also has a 4-7 playoff record since winning the super bowl 12 seasons ago. Some stats I happened across (in the last 10 years): https://www.barstoolsports.com/blog/3536495/its-time-to-admit-john-harbaugh-is-not-a-good-postseason-coach --He's been one & done in the playoffs three times. --He's made it to one conference title game, despite 4 seasons in the Top 10 in points, 5 seasons in the Top 10 in yards, 8 seasons in the Top 10 in points allowed, and 7 in the Top 10 in yards allowed. --He's had the No. 1 seed in the AFC twice, and is 1-2 in those playoffs. Now I don't believe he should be fired as I think he is a very good coach but he routinely is ranked higher than McD by many on this site. Just wondering about those who think McD should go and how they feel about Harbaugh. -
I have to call this out. DeAndre Hopkins had 0 catches on 1 target against Houston. He has not topped 90 yards yet since being traded to KC. His average stat line is 3.73 catches per game for 39.73 yards. His longest catch is 35 yards. So he is averaging less than 4 catches for 40 yards per game and that is exceptional?! I do agree that I think something is going on with him and he hasn't been the game changer we all wanted the Hopkins statement is patently false.

I hate how true both of these statements are. I didn't celebrate the missed 2 pointer. I dreaded the onside kick. Then they lined up to run a play and I was even more stressed. I celebrated hard when they got that first down though! To the thread I said immediately they left too much time on the clock for Josh. Don't forget Marlon Humphrey was injured and out of the game. That either opens the slot or forces Hamilton down into the slot and makes deep passing plays easier.

2 points: 1. The offense didn't get conservative, they were conservative all game long. What changed was the Ravens defense was effective stopping the run in the 2nd half. 1st td drive was 11 plays 9 of which were runs, 2nd td drive was 4 plays 3 of which were runs, 3rd td drive was 9 plays 7 of which were runs. So 3 td drives, 24 plays 19 runs. They didn't have to unleash Josh, narrative buster but the Bills won a huge game without Josh having to be super man. The game script allowed the Bills to control the clock and keep the defense rested. 2. To say the defense collapsed is also kind of silly. They let up 10 points in the first half and 15 in the 2nd. The Ravens before this game were talked about as an unstoppable juggernaut. Henry and Lamar were an unstoppable rushing combination and yet Henry had 84 yards rushing while Lamar added 39. To take it even further 25 points is the lowest the Ravens have scored in the last 6 weeks since they scored 19 against the Eagles. In fact the 25 points they scored was their 5th lowest output of the season and 2 of those games were week 1 and 2. So long story short in the last 16 games this was their 3rd lowest output. Yes it took 3 turnovers but that is football. -
The New McDermott - Great Buscaglia Article

Did you really call him a clown? Lol I had a multiple paragraph response typed and just decided it's not worth it. Have a great day. Go Bills. -

I think you would have a harder time naming 5 coaches that are better than him. If you list out your 5 I bet I can make a convincing argument he is better than most. I will even start you with McVay and Reid who I think are better than him. -
AP All-Pro Teams Announced. Josh 2nd Team Only Bill.
section122 replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is a sean mcdermott stat. The Bills as a team vastly outperform how they should. That points directly at coaching. This stat is wrong there are 5 teams most recently the 2019 Packers. Unfortunately none of the 5 have reached the super bowl. Time to break that streak! -
If the script writers have their way.... Does anyone really think the NFL doesn't have Lamar vs Josh in the Divisional round? Winner goes to Arrowhead to face the mighty chiefs? I think Denver COULD knock of the Bills but I really don't think it is likely. The Bills offense matches up very well with their defense, McD generally gives rookie QBs fits, the game is home where the Bills were undefeated. So the Bills SHOULD win this game. I think Pitt COULD knock off the Ravens but I really don't think it is likely. It took some fluky missed fgs in the first game for Pitt to win, the recent Pitt team has not played well, and Ravens at home are much better (4 of 5 losses on the road , all 3 times they scored less than 20 were on the road). So the Ravens SHOULD win this game.

Diva wide receiver shenanigans strike again!
section122 replied to Sharky7337's topic in The Stadium Wall
It is indeed interesting that WR has become such an important high paying position when you look at the relative success of the best WRs in the game. Justin Jefferson, Jamarr Chase, CeeDee Lamb, Randy Moss, Calvin Johnson, TO, Larry Fitzgerald don't have a super bowl. Looking at recent Super Bowl winners though does show the importance of having at least a very good/great receiving weapon. Chiefs last 2 years had traded away Hill and won back to back with MVS and JuJu. They did have Kelce though. Rams had Kupp on an absolute heater that year, Bucs had Evans, Godwin, and AB, Chiefs had Hill and Kelce, Patriots had Gronk and Edelman. You could maybe argue the Eagles but Alshon Jeffrey and Zach Ertz weren't nobodies. So it can be argued that you don't need a record breaking, best in the league receiver but I also think looking at recent history shows you need good/great weapons. -
I don't care about Josh winning MVP. It would be nice but ultimately has no bearing on the greatness we are lucky to witness week in and week out. That said the MVP voters really messed up last year. Jackson didn't deserve it, Josh did. His numbers were just better they were much better. This year Jackson actually has an argument for MVP but they disqualified Josh last year bc the team wasn't winning (ended up 2nd in the conference but by the then the vote had been decided). Now its the Ravens who are fighting for the division. If Josh had won MVP last year I would be perfectly ok with Lamar winning it this year. That's not how it happened and now I'll be annoyed if he doesn't win it this year lol.

Love em. There is a ranch version as well that imo is better than the original and I love the original.

No inside info just an educated guess. When they win, the Bills will celebrate like crazy that night in New Orleans. Fly back on Monday recover on Tuesday then Parade on either Wednesday or Thursday. Either way I'll be there!
-
Last week I took the Monday after the super bowl off so i can celebrate in full when the BIlls win and also took the Thursday off after the super bowl so I can attend the parade. This is the year. Book it!

We got up here right at 10 and already missed out on the lot! Parked down around the corner. Does anyone know what time the ketchup and mustard routine happens?

NFL officiating is broken. How do we fix it?
section122 replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall
The bolded is absolutely true. I agree with the rest of your post but wanted to highlight the very first line. People at home get multiple angles, slow motion, and the benefit of seeing a full view from the broadcast. Each official is looking at a certain spot from a certain vantage point. On field officials do not have a 360 degree view of the play. I'm thinking of the Darnold play a couple of weeks ago at the end of the game and people were made the ref couldn't see it but you could see bodies between him and the play. 7 officials, 22 players, 100 yards. It is an incredibly difficult if not impossible job. The easy solution is to give refs assistance with the things mentioned above. If we can all clearly see a penalty, why can't it be called retroactively. I get that it is a slippery slope but who cares. Call holding that happens on every play until it doesn't. It seems silly that fans accept that to be true but get upset when other penalties aren't called. Yes to all of this. Full Time officials won't make a difference imo as the issue isn't that they know the rules (I believe they do), the issue is that is impossible to see all the penalties that occur. As I mentioned above, there is no reason they can't get a little help especially in the extremely obvious cases. However I don't know that this is an issue the NFL cares to fix. People have been complaining about refs for as long as I can remember and I am sure before that even.
