RD 1, Pick 30: Greg Rousseau, Edge (Miami) Public Poll Added
Malazan replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills roster is at a point that there's not many picks who will instantly walk in and be a starter. I know people love to hate Edmunds and Wallace, but it's not like any rookie on the board at that point was going to walk in and just push them out. I'd have gone a different direction, but I don't think gambling on a boom or bust prospect who has a lot of talent and has been a solid worker is crazy. He may need a year to get there, but that's right on time to replace a couple of the older guys currently on the roster. -

I have this strange feeling...based on absolutely nothing with no good reason for it to be true... ..but I think the Bills trade back from 30 -

Some guys are better suited to mock drafts than real ones. -

Eh, I think 8 players in a draft is the absolute max of players that you can really draft and develop in a single year. Otherwise, every team would be punching as many lottery tickets as they can. There's a limit. -

It's pretty clear that Douglas collected more picks than he intended to use (ie he was going to move up at some point), but this feels like money burning a hole in his pocket -

Why would they ask "challenging questions" at the draft? -

I suspect that even if teams don't need it, the NFL tells them to take the full time. -

Zach Wilson seems like a major tool to me, but you never want to see a player's career end like that. -

I'd say drafting half a Jamal Adams is easily the craziest. -
Patriots making an "aggressive push" for, Jaylen Waddle???
Malazan replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Weren't they making an aggressive push for a QB like 5 minutes ago? -
I'd bet more on it being Shefter being disgruntled that there was that 49ers story and his name wasn't on it so...

He Hate Me?

I'll take that bet. Regardless of circumstances, Darnold was the worst QB in the NFL. I watched their games (and enjoyed it greatly) last season and when he had no pressure on him he seemed confused about who actually played for his team, took a long time to process the field, making sill mental errors like running out of bounds behind the line (multiple times) and was not in command of the offense at all. The *SAME* problems he had in college. I'm not sure why a guy who had problems in college, continued those problems in the pros is suddenly going to turn it around because he gets the 'good' coaching. On top of that, it's exceedingly rare that a clear top 10 bust (let's say 20th and below for 3 years running) leaves the team that drafted them and then goes on to success elsewhere. There's a reason for that. Most of his "he's gonna turn it around" hype seems to be from people who are carrying over that Darnold was a highly touted prospect in the draft and haven't watched him in the last two years. Gase is a control freak buffoon who only ever had success when he was getting Manning coffee, but Darnold was awful. Their offense performed better with the animated corpse of a disinterested Joe Flacco. Both gase and Darnold can be bad at the same time.

The Pats are apparently leaning heavily on Matt Patricia to run their draft. I'll just leave it at that.

McShay- Bills trying to move up above 23 for Etienne
Malazan replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
or Beane is calling around asking about a trade up to: 1. Gather intelligence on the cost of moving up 2. Throw up a smokescreen -
This had nothing to do with outsmarting "Math". This was a data problem. Garbage data in then garbage data out. The "Math" didn't have all the information which is really hard to do. Many people understood that Allen's situation was not going to 'look good' by the the standard data used for evaluation. The data collection method was flawed (and is impossible to get 'right).
