There is a difference between realism and pessimism. The "you're all stupid, the world sucks, I just stepped in dog****" attitude you bring is not realistic, it's pessimistic. Does getting bent over something that hasn't happened yet make you feel better this moment? I'm guessing it doesn't, and if it doesn't then what's the point?

Here is my entrant into this blind man's coloring contest. There is nothing in this statement that proclaims it is fact. There is, however, the assertion that if the person who is being responded to doesn't see things in the same way as the poster, because in the opinion of the poster the point is so clear as to be self evident, then the person being responded to is delusional. I'm suggesting that you try to limit the actions that really do hurt the team (setting a poor example and taking stupid showboating penalties) and ignore the ones that constitute nothing more than a leopard showing off his spots. Fight the battles that are worth fighting. Do you really think over the next however many seasons that Johnson is in a Bills uniform that he isn't going to tweet something stupid again. I'm saying he doesn't deserve a spanking from the coach for every mindless offseason tweet. That will only lead to frustration for both the coach and player.

I would further sub-divide his behavior. If I were Coach Marrone, this tweet would not thrill me, and would put talking with him about behavior detrimental to the team higher on my "to do" list BUT I would not necessarily consider this specific instance as behavior detrimental to the team. The "I don't work out in the offseason" bit is not becoming of a leader, and the unsportsmanlike conduct penalties for celebrations I wouldn't tolerate, and both of those things are things I would specifically address with him and lay my expectations out in black and white. This tweet, meh, it's Stevie being Stevie. For the record, I don't really view him as a team leader, and maybe that's why this really doesn't bother me on any level. I think he's probably a good guy, but I don't envision a team falling in line to follow him, regardless of whether his tweets consist of mindless BS or astrophysics.

Sorry, poorly worded. I didn't actually mean for that to be "you" in the directive sense, more of a general sense of if someone is reading his tweet and got offended "you". Your post wasn't yet posted when I started mine. Regarding inviting scrutiny, you say that as though you think he is unaware of the repercussions of his actions. I get the sense that he does think before he goes through with these antics, and forges ahead anyway. I think he does it fully aware of the potential backlash, knowing that most will take it for what it is, and some will make more of it than they should. I think he does these things for the sole purpose of messing with the people who overreact to things. "Why so serious?" Doesn't make him any less immature, may even make him less mature than your take on him...

IMO, anything other than a reaction to this tweet that falls somewhere on the spectrum between mildy amused and mildly annoyed is an indication that you are exactly the person who's feathers Stevie was trying to ruffle when he hit send. How much more blatant does he need to be? He even qualified the statement before sending it. It would be different if he was an American diplomat. He's a football player. If anything, we should be impressed by the fact that he has a working knowledge of current events.
