  1. I agree. If things like that affect either his play or the play of his teammates (or draws a unsportsman penalty maybe?) then yes he needs to "grow up". Otherwise, I have seen people talking crap as they run off the field or back to the huddle for years. This was just that, only non-verbal
  2. I was watching when he did that. I figured someone said something about the dropped pass he had just thrown on 4th down and that was his response. Immature for sure, but is it really that big of a deal? If Manuel had done that there would be post after post here about showing confidence, or having an edge that people liked along with others condemning it. Non-issue in my mind.
  3. They interviewed Brandon during the last game and I think he said about 5000 left at that time. I just looked on ticketmaster and there appears to be quite a few left.
  4. Nah they just signed Grossman as their "veteran backup".
  5. He made at least one really nice pass over 10 yards where he didn't have a lot of room and hit the receiver in stride. Receiver dropped it after he was hit. All in all I didn't think JF looked particularly good or bad from what I saw. Hoyer though, was decidedly bad. And as someone else mentioned, I was watching on ESPN and Gruden was doing some serious JF ball washing. Probably because his kid is involved, and he was so high on JF draft day and was shocked when he didn't go in the first few picks.
  6. Me either. As I said earlier, I imagine his pricetag would be too high for a backup.
  7. I think you miss the main point. The thought is not to bring Sanchise in as a starter, but rather as a backup for Manuel. The thought of Tuel or Lewis seeing the field during the regular season is terrifying to some. The main reason I don't see it happening is because even though he was being brought in as a backup, Sanchise would still be a challenge to Manuel for the starting position and I do not believe the Bills front office wants to push Manuel for whatever reason.
  8. Patience often comes with age and experience.
  9. None of what you said (which was well stated BTW), makes me think that he could not challenge for the starting position this season, and at the very least make a much better backup than what the Bills have now. But as I said, I do not believe the Bills want competition for Manuel. And I'm not sure what the price-tag would be for Sanchise, but it might be a bit steep for a backup.
  10. If people really believe in the "iron clad lease" and the Trust demanding an oath in blood that the Bills will stay in WNY, I'm not sure why they would fear Gundlach as an owner. He is very smart, logical, and from what I hear very no nonsense. He would not put up with any incompetence in the front office, that is for sure. And he is very likely to leave the football decisions to the football people. Not to mention he did not make his money by poisoning people, but that's just my bias talking. I get that Pegula has more than demonstrated he wants to be the Buffalo NY white knight, and is certainly putting his money where his mouth is. But if the trust, for whatever reason, does not want Pegula, the Bills could do a whole lot worse than Jeffrey Gundlach as an owner in my opinion.
  11. I agree, I have seen some improvement as well. Enough to warrant being optimistic about his future? Not yet, for me anyway. But at the very least he has seemingly not regressed. As I said in another thread, a good barometer for him as well as the team in general, will be the opener against the Bears. The "dress rehearsal" game Saturday should tell us a lot as well. Although it is unlikely Watkins will dress for that game so that "tell" will be tainted a bit.
  12. There is at least some logic to Sanchise
  13. For gods sake people. Since no one here knows the exact diagnosis what makes you think a doctor or anyone else is going to be able to give you a meaningful prognosis? What we know is Watkins has "bruised ribs". In general, these things heal when they heal. I'm sure Watkins is getting the best care possible so just let it go and I'm sure when he is able to play he will play.
  14. Whaley/Marrone will not bring anyone to camp that could challenge Manuel for the starting position.
  15. If that is true my respect level for her just shot way up.
  16. You should not have overlap in the number of wins. 0-3 4-8 for example.
  17. The same was said about the stache too But I feel much more confident that it is true in this case.
  18. You might find it hard to believe but there is a middle ground, not an either/or situation. Also, some don't think he should be "our guy" and are very worried given the Bills seemingly have no viable backup at the moment. If/When Manuel plays well you will see 80% of the posts here singing his praises.
  19. Skip those last 10-12 beers and you shouldn't puke on yourself
  20. Some can't stand anything but "_____ player is great!" when it comes to the Bills (or whatever team they follow). This is particularly true of a player that is going to have to be very good if the team is going to be able to compete. And that is how they express themselves. Nothing new and generally not worth worrying about. Sounds pretty combative to me.
  21. The stillers dropped 7 into coverage almost every play. Checkdowns are appropriate in that situation. Not saying I'm thrilled with his play so far this preseason, but faulting him for checking down last night is unfair.
  22. That is what it looked like, but at the same time is inconsistent with Marrone's "win now" philosophy that he has been talking about of late. Also inconsistent with him kicking the field goal to tie the game late to setup overtime. I am in agreement with some posts above that Manuel and the 1st offense in general had at best a mediocre game (missing Watkins didn't help) and the 1st D got abused badly by the stiller 1st O. The Bills starters are going to have to be much better than they showed last night a few short weeks from now.
  23. I think he is just trying to make **** up to keep it upbeat is all and it isn't easy.
  24. And that last drive was against the stiller backups, right?
  25. Rib injury, not returning. Hopefully just precautionary.
