Tre White - Best in the League?
billsfan89 replied to Houston's #1 Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Arguably, Who is better than him? Gilmore and Ramsey are the only ones in the conversation really, maybe there is one other more unsung guy in there but Tre has been at a Pro-Bowl level since his rookie year and took a massive leap last year to being one of the top corners in the league. I can't think of a zone corner that is better than him for sure (Gilmore and Ramsey are man to man corners.) I think Tre is going to be worth every penny we pay him. -
Report - Browns in discussion with Vikings on OBJ trade
billsfan89 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Last year’s Browns were among the worst situations for Odell to be in. Yes they had his good friend Landry and other good skill position talent around him. But the team had an immature QB who needed to be humbled before he could lead a great team, they had offensive line issues that hampered the offense, and they had a head coach who was incapable of managing the personalities on the team. There was also issues on the defensive side even if they did field a respectable unit. Odell was also expected to be the big piece that put them into the playoffs and so that also added a lot of pressure on him and made the whole situation toxic if and when they began to lose. It would be one thing if the Browns were coming off of that 1-15 season and they brought in Odell, then the expectations would be super low and the pressure less. But they had expectations in Cleveland and that made the situation that much more of a pressure cooker. That's not to excuse Odell as he is very immature and needs to get it together. But putting a volatile player in a volatile situation wasn't a recipe for success. As far as their 2020 prospects (if there is a season) they did add Conklin and I expect they add another tackle with their first round pick, that should help their O-line issues and they probably could add a piece or two to the defense via the draft as they have an extra 3rd round pick to work with. Conklin and Hooper improve the talent but their issues go beyond talent. -

It doesn't match up with the rumors that he was upset after the 2018 season in which Kirk fed him 149 targets. I think there has to be more to the story because despite only 94 targets in 2019 Diggs had the better season. I think the targets might have been the last straw but something wasn't right there. -

To be fair to the Vikings were right in their philosophy with Cook as they improved a lot form 2018 to 2019. In 2018 Diggs got 149 targets and Thielin got 153, yet they were unable to consistently move the ball due to O-line issues and lack of a rushing attack. In 2019 Diggs only got 94 targets but had a much better season and the team went from 8-7-1 to 10-6 and a playoff victory. I think Diggs got frustrated with Cousins as a QB on a personal level not just a football one. There were rumblings about Diggs wanting out of Minny last off-season when he had 149 targets. So I don't think the issue was just targets as he was fed plenty in 2018 and still had issues. I don't think of Diggs as a big diva but certainly a strong personality that Josh and the coaching staff will have to manage. -
Justin Herbert is being predicted to Miami over Tua

This is why I am not concerned about the Fins long term. Yes they made some quality free agent additions (but this isn't the last time they went on a free agency binge) and they have a lot of draft capital both in 2020 and 2021 BUT they don't have a quality QB. Without a QB you are limited to just how far you can go (and it isn't like their roster even with their draft additions is super stacked.) That is why Josh Allen is ultimately responsible for the Bills long term fate the next 2-3 seasons. -
Any Position the Bills wouldn't take the BPA in Round 2?
billsfan89 replied to BisonMan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
QB is really the only position I don't think they wouldn't sink a pick into. Yes Matt Barkley isn't the best backup but he is serviceable and a positive locker room guy (definitely deserving of the Alex Moran position) but given the depth needs of the roster they can't throw away a 2nd round pick at the position. Maybe DT is another position where the depth and youth is there to where tossing a 2nd round pick would be stupid. I can't see any other position where they would pass up a draft steal in favor of a need. QB- Yes they would pass. RB- Need a player behind Singletary they would use a 2nd rounder on great value. WR- They need depth short term and a long term replacement for Brown and Beasley who just turned 30 and 31 respectively. TE- Not much at this position group, lots of raw players and a often injured vet in Kroft. OL- Unlike some I love the O-line group but I don't think they pass on any O-line position if the value is super good. They have shown the desire to field a good deep O-line group. The value would have to be insane for them not to pass but it could exist. DT- This is one group where I could see them passing on great value. DE- One of the bigger needs on the team is to get a young player behind the older group there of course they pick a good DE if one is available. LB- Klein is older and on a short term deal, Milano could be a cap casualty, I could see them future proofing the position long term but the value would have to be good. CB- There might be a need here as outside of Tre the group has some questions, I think they aren't afraid to take a CB early. S- Value would have to be insane here but if there was good value I could see them taking on a player for short term depth and longer term security. -

I guess the Vikings like the safeties they feel will be available at pick 22 and not the WR's. The Browns fill a need in their secondary and get draft capital in a deep WR class. I like this trade more for the Browns than the Vikings. -

I think if there is a season it will be played with no fans in the stands at least for most of it. Things change so rapidly in this situation we have no clue what is information and what is misinformation or anecdotal. I am hoping for the best but preparing for the worst (no season in this specific context.) Right now the NFL can wait 8 weeks to see what exactly the progression of this thing is. -
There will be some decent vet options available after the draft. I think McBeane is savvy enough to see how the draft shakes out and then dip into the vet RB market once they know what exactly they have at RB post draft. Out of all the options available, I do like Hyde the most but I think drafting a bigger RB around round 4 is the team's best option.

Jay Glazer: I will break big, national news tomorrow
billsfan89 replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it is that the NFL owners are going to play the season without fans in the stands (if this is Covid 19 related) or it is just a resolution to the Pats/Bengals Spygate 5000 situation. I bet on the more bland news story as I think the NFL will wait until June before making any major decisions. The NFL unlike other leagues is in its most dead time now which means that they are going to have the luxury of waiting until mid-June (where in 2 months things could rapidly change.) -
Decent marginal signing, former 4th round pick bounced around a lot but still has 21 starts in his career. Not much more than a bubble roster player who started some games as a rookie then later in his career got some starts due to injuries. Must not have been better than replacement level as he got cut several times and traded. But I like adding more offensive line competition in camp, value added that he is by all reports a good locker room guy. Odds are that he is just brought in to push Bates and Long in camp but you need depth and you need competition, this signing does just that.

There were a lot of other teams that were in on Diggs who unlike Cooks isn't coming off of a major injury and dip in production. Cooks was valued at a 1st round pick level just 2 years ago.

Levi White I can forgive as he probably just mixed up some names (he even said Tredaevious after showing he knew he messed it up) but he really couldn't even do basic due diligence to know that Shaq Lawson and Jordan Phillips were their big free agency losses? It is sad that even when ESPN gives the Bills some love they still manage to bungle it.

billsfan89 replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That is true but they have the luxury to wait 2 more months before having to make these decisions and 2 months is an eternity in this process. So much can change in that time, I agree that at least a month or two delay in the start of the season is likely at this point mainly to get rapid testing and wait out states easing restrictions. -
Kiper Mock 4.0 - Bills take Okwara at 54

Would love this pick, more investment along the trenches and getting younger at a position group that has 3 players above 30 in it. -

They model based on the worst case scenario and no action taken. They then project forward based on action taken, the models have been pretty accurate as they get adjusted to the actions the nation/states have taken. -

The NFL has the luxury of time, they can wait 8 weeks until mid-June to make a final decision on the season. Unlike the other 3 major sports leagues which are losing time in their seasons now. However the NFL might have to make some difficult decisions then but there are just far too many variables for them to wait through. -
McCaffrey Signs 4 Years 64 Million

I don't know why they would sign this extension now but it seems fair value for the dual threat dynamic back he is, he also doesn't have the knee history of Gurley. -
Beane Draft Day Aggression - Trade up for Delpit
billsfan89 replied to Mark80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree value is a concern you can't reach for need. However that is my hierarchy of needs where I think they should have their needs highest on their radar. I hope the draft shakes out that way. -
Beane Draft Day Aggression - Trade up for Delpit
billsfan89 replied to Mark80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I could see a minor trade up a few spots in round 3 or 4 but overall I think McBeane just lets the draft come to them before they make a trade up. Get me a DE, WR and RB (in that order) and add another depth piece to the secondary or LB corps in round 5 and I think this team is set up nicely. -
Beane Draft Day Aggression - Trade up for Delpit
billsfan89 replied to Mark80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I do feel like Beane might trade an O-line player for a 2021 mid-round pick if there is a camp or late round pick that performs better than one of the vets. A Spencer Long or Ty type might fetch a 4thor 5thround pick from an O-line thirsty team. -
Beane Draft Day Aggression - Trade up for Delpit
billsfan89 replied to Mark80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This team is fairly set at all or most starting positions. What this team needs is youth and depth at certain positions (Secondary, DE, WR, RB, and LB) the team has the ability to address a good chunk of these needs with their existing picks. If you trade up to add a more premium talent you are losing the ability to build depth and get younger on your roster. Given that the team only has 6 picks and needs to get younger at several positions it is better that they stand pat and just target quantity over a big eggs in one basket trade up. -

A good WR or a good DE will be there at pick 54. Let the draft come to you. -
Interesting Mock Drafts, love the work put into this. I would love to see the Bills go DE and WR in rounds 2 and 3. Going into free agency I thought DE and WR were the biggest most glaring needs on the roster. Diggs is a nice frontline addition but depth and youth is still needed there. I would like to see DE ideally in round 2 so that the team could have a young player behind the rather old Murphy, Hughes, Addision trio. WR is more so a depth need as Beasely and Brown are older.

The risk is just far too unknown at this point. I would imagine that we are talking 3-5 months from now what is going on with this public health issue will be a completely different set of circumstances than what is happening now. Personally for me I am in wait and see mode. If the spread of Covid can be contained enough to where the risks are much more minimal than I would strongly consider going. However if the risks are higher than well I would have reservations about going.
