You could cut Murphy to make up the difference cap wise. I then would assume you could get a comp pick back for Yannick which should ease the pick you gave up for him. If you think this team is one piece away and Yannick could be that piece then a 2nd isn't too bad a price in my opinion

The Raiders scored a TD with less than a minute left and depleted of timeouts. The Fins and Jets had similar scores. Even the Titans piled on a TD late. My point is that these late scores are deflating point differential.

I would love to see the Bills offer up a 2nd round pick for Yannick. Yannick is on a one year deal on a bad Vikings team. Overall I would rather try and get him to help out the pass rush and bring in Snacks to help with the run defense.

The defense just looked like they got dominated despite the 26 points not being tragic. Honestly I think the defense can get it in gear if they add a big run stuffing DT and get Milano and Levi back. I think they also need a big time DE but that's unlikely to happen. -
Defensive problems-just my opinion

I think a scheme adjustment is possible to help with some of the issues and Milano and Levi coming back will help. But the D-line needs a big run stuffer up the middle (which I think would allow Oliver and Jefferson to play as gap penetrators) which I hope they can find off the street and the defense needs a big time edge rusher. The latter will be hard to find but I would love to see McBeane get on the phone to Minny and offer a pick for Yannick. -
Jordan Phillips was not a run stuffer. We are missing Star in that department. I honestly think the team should sign Snacks Harrison off Seattle's practice squad. I don't think the team needs to make a trade for a big DT. I think they can cut Butler and find someone better off the street. BUT the pass rush is where I think they need to make a big trade. Levi and Milano could help out the back end of the defense and Mongo can help the run blocking. But they need some help on the edge. If I were Beane I would call Minny and offer a 2nd rounder for Yannick. Minny is in the toilet and Yannick is leaving after this season. You might as well get back that second round pick you sunk into him. The Bills get a fairly cheap anchor to the D-line and pass rush and will likely be in line for a comp pick for him to help alleviate the 2nd rounder they sunk into him.

1- The defense for all the abuse it took did within an inch of an RB's leg being down almost put this team with the ball down 6 deep in KC territory and held KC to 26 points down from their 30 point average. The defense however really let the game down when they couldn't get KC off the field on 3rd and long when it was a 6 point game late. The defensive strategy wasn't the best but it could have worked. 2- This loss is more on the offense. To beat KC you need to score points. 17 points isn't going to cut it. 3- This was a bad game from Josh. KC implemented the blitz blitz blitz strategy that Baltimore did and the team needs to better prepare for that. 4- Bojo and the ST unit was very good in this game. Despite Bass's miss (which was 52 yards out in bad weather) the ST unit did its part. Overall it sucks but the combined record of the two teams the Bills lost to is 9-1. There is a big time need for concern but no need to panic.

I could have sworn there were two punts. So odd my memory is that there were two punts in Q3. -

The defense followed the gameplan they just couldn't execute on several third down attempts in particular that one on the late drive. McD basically was willing to give up time of possession in order to limit the overall possessions of the game and bet on the idea that his offense can put up enough points in limited possessions to win. Back to back punts in Q3 and Bass's miss to end the first half were the killers along with the final KC field goal drive. McD is right that they just didn't execute when the defense needed a big play. But in the end 17 points is not going to beat KC. As much as the defense got run over let's be honest if Josh can get a score in Q3 that game is different. -
The Bills gave up a lot of garbage time TD's this year (to the Raiders, Jets and Fins in particular and the Titans piled up a late score too) I don't think the point diff is bad in that context.

I fully agree the defense in particular needed to at the very least get KC off the field on that third and long on the last drive they scored a field goal on. That would have at the very least given the Bills the ball down 6 with a few minutes left to play and all the timeouts. Hell the defense nearly forced a fumble then which might have won the team the game. But if you know the gameplan is bend don't break and that possessions will be limited you can't go punts back to back. You just can't. This loss showcased the need for internal and external improvements on the D-line. As well as what Josh will need to do in inclement weather and against the blitz. -

I put this on the offense more than the defense. If Josh can get a field goal on one of those third quarter drives that game is a bit different as it is a one possession game going into the 4th. The offense put up two measley punts in the third quarter. -

He showed faith in the offense to score and was hoping that Josh and the offense could stand toe to toe with the KC offense. Jauron would do that strategy with no reason to have faith in the offense to win a shoot out. It was a calculated risk by McD. One that looked like it might work in the first half but the offense just couldn't consistently work. -
A better defensive line in my opinion would have been able to at least get them off the field on that last drive where they scored a field goal to officially put the game away. I think a better defensive line could have cut down on the success of the run game (although it would have resulted in a successful ground game if your game plan is designed to give some up on the run) and gotten some sacks or pressures on at least some of those third downs. I do think that some teams will try to replicate this strategy with KC. Thinking that their defensive lines can handle KC better and thus limit their ground success and limit their third down success.

You are basically conceding that KC is going to score 25-28 points and just hoping your offense can match them. It's no better a strategy than blitzing the ***** out of them and hoping for sacks and turnovers but willing to take the hit on big plays. Maybe a team with a better D-line can take advantage of the strategy but I honestly think Mahomes is also disciplined enough to dink and dunk on you.
-
In the first half it worked. The team was a Bass miss from being tied or down 1 (if KC makes their Extra point.) Hell the defense even stopped KC when they got the ball to start the half. It was the two punts in Q3 that killed the team's chances. Hell if that fumble stood the team would have had the ball deep in KC territory down 6 with about 5 minutes left in the game.
-
Yes and No, basically by playing a let them run bend don't break game you basically limit yourself to 7-8 possessions which might deflate KC's scoring but it also puts immense pressure on your offense. McD gambled that Josh and the running game could score at least 3 on about every drive. Given that KC probably given 7-8 possessions can still score well into the 20's you basically need 3 points on average every time out from your offense just to keep it close. I think you are better off trying to play aggressive on defense and force sack/turnovers as opposed to hoping they eat away at the clock and you can hold them to field goals?

The last thing a championship team needs to do is learn how to beat elite teams consistently. It's the final step of any team building process. The Bills right now are battling defensive issues and teams adjusting to Josh defensively, they need to overcome that before they can beat good teams with any sort of consistency. Honestly I think this Bills team is still good and can still win 10-12 games. I think McD is a good coach and Beane a good GM. I feel that the defense needs to adjust scheme wise, get Milano back and bring in a big run stuffing DT. Ideally I would add in trading for a big time pass rusher but that might be easier said than done. McD has to be more dynamic as a coach and learn to handle the illness of more as Pat Riley coined it. Basically it is a concept that once a team starts to win the players start to look out for their interests more. Role players want to start and get paid, starters want the ball more and a contract extension and the stars want the ball more and a bigger contract extension. I think the relative success of the past three years (10 wins last season and playoffs in 2017) has been a hamper on the defense. Tre got a huge extension, Poyer got his deal, Hughes got his new deal, Addision was brought in on a big contract, Milano and others are about a year away from new deals. Overall I think the defense needs some one field additions. Getting Milano and Levi back from injury will help. But they need to find a big body for up the middle. Butler is not cutting it, Zimmer gives effort but he is raw and I think Henry hasn't recovered from his injury. They need a Snacks Harrison type space eater. Signing him or another similar type of player could help the run defense. I also think the defense needs to cut a player or two. I would personally start with Butler to send a message. I think benching Murphy and Henry was a good idea but you need bigger consequences. I also think firing Frazier might send that type of message. Finally I think this team's season is likely to end at the divisional round unless they get a big addition to the defense like Yannick. They need a big time pass rusher. I think Yannick for a 2nd and a late round pick is something that could interest Minny. Adding that big time pass rusher and a run stuffer (which I think can be found off the street) are two key additions that might help the front 7. -

I hope Mongo can come back and bring some nasty play back to the oline. The lack of a push in the ground game is disturbing. But the pass rush is a huge concern. They might need to trade for a big pass rusher. I would call up Minny and see if they would take a 2nd for Yannick -

They took what we gave them but couldn't get that turnover or that third down stop late to give the offense the chance to win late. -

And yet it was a one possession game late. Bottomline is the gameplan in theory worked but if you don't have a good DL to put the pressure on third and long you are going to lose against even an OK QB let alone Mahomes. -

I love Diggs, I think he likes it here. But that walking back to the line even in garbage time was crap. Got to rebound and put up a big angry win against the Jets. -

I think the defense needs a shock to the system. Cut a starting player like Butler and fire Frazier, got to get these guys more motivated.
