DaQuan is that big run stuffer that Star was supposed to be. -
NFLPA initiating investigation into Tua’s concussion protocol

I agree to an extent but if the team did anything to shy away from an evaluation by the independent neurologist then that warrants a fine and an adjustment of the policy possibly. -
NFLPA initiating investigation into Tua’s concussion protocol
billsfan89 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Fins will get a big fine and internal practices will be adjusted but I can't see much more than that sadly. -
The Bills running back trio is averaging 4.4 yards per carry which is pretty respectable at face value. I think however the running game lacks consistency. Rushing stats by the combo of Moss, Singletary and Cook are kind of inflated by various factors. Moss had that big run against Miami which has inflated his total he hasn't done too much outside of that. Cook got a lot or all of his best yards in garbage time against the Titans backups and Singletary had a good rushing game against the Rams but has not done much on the ground since. That's not a lot of consistent production. Now I will grant this that the Bills O-line was massively banged up against the Dolphins which put the running game DOA however if the Bills can get back their starting five and get more chemistry in the new scheme I think there is a chance the ground game can be better. As far as Josh's component I think as fans there is very little you can tell about what the play call is and how a QB should adjust against a given front/defense. Hopefully if there is a component that Josh can be better on we all know Josh will work on it and get things in gear by the time the playoffs roll around. My main concern is getting the O-line healthy and playing cohesively.

Was Jaquan Johnson really that bad in his first career start?
billsfan89 replied to Wayne Arnold's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Bills defense forced Miami to punt 5 times out of 8 drives and gave up two long TD drives and another TD on a turnover inside the 10. Considering that the Bills were out 5-6 starters on defense along with additional role/depth players I consider that to be a decent day. If you exclude the drive that started inside the 10 on an offensive turnover the Bills held Miami to 5 punts on 7 drives or about a 29% TD give-up rate by the defense. The league average of drives that end in TD's is about 26% however the percentage of drives that end in a score (field goal or TD) is 41%. So you can parse it out any which way but I would say the defense delivered an average outcome against an offense that is most likely an above-average NFL offense. Add in the circumstances and it is much more impressive. You can lawyer the numbers any way you want but to the eye test, the defense played well enough to win. Had the offense not turned the ball over deep in their own territory the game could have easily been a 17 or less point affair by the defense. As far as Johnson I think he was subpar but he is being integrated into the defense with players he never played with consistently before. I think if you get Poyer next to him and settle him down with more snaps things will be fine for him long term even if there are some sort term growing pains. -
Has 20 starts under his belt. Graded out best in 2019 when he played 844 snaps and only allowed 4 sacks and 3 penalties. Had a solid start to the 2020 season not allowing a sack on 602 snaps and only 1 penalty. But got hurt to end the 2020 season and got hurt again in 2021. PFF (which is not the best metric) graded him as follows. 2019- 62.9 2020- 56.7 2021- 60.8 Considering that we are at week 4 getting a player that was somewhat effective with 20 starts under his belt is about as good as you will be able to do. The reason he is available despite decent play and experience is due to injuries. He got hurt to end the 2020 season and again early in 2021. Hopefully with a few extra weeks rest his body is ready to go.

Elam is a stud he will be a star in the secondary for years to come.

Time for Beane to "break glass in case of emergency"?
billsfan89 replied to zow2's topic in The Stadium Wall
No need to panic just yet but I certainly think if the injury concerns mount then McBeane might come in and bring in some help via trade. But I just don’t see that point yet. -
Poor coaching by McDermott is becoming a theme
billsfan89 replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
At some point you will reach an Andy Reid (in Philadelphia) tipping point where you have a coach getting a team to the playoffs consistently and making runs but never getting over the hump and there comes a point where the team has to move on from a successful coach. That being said I don’t think McD is anywhere near that point. Maybe if the Bills take losses in the playoffs in 2022 and 2023 you can start that question but it is far too soon. It’s a week 3 loss away with a banged up team nothing to panic over. -
I don’t think there will be any major outside moves made I think given Johnson has been in the system for 4 years and was drafted by this team and has played well in spot duty I think they will be fine with him there. Now that’s not to say that I can’t see McBeane bringing in defensive reinforcements via trade down the line but I think they like what they have in Johnson.

All-22 Grades for Bills/Titans (The Athletic)
billsfan89 replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
To my eye it didn’t seem like Saffold was bad. I thought he was OK, Van Rotten was pretty bad in my opinion so shocked to see a more detailed analysis showing Van Rotten graded out better. No shock on Shakir, Keenum and Brewer in the bottom 5 though. -
Micah Hyde seeking 2nd opinion on neck injury
billsfan89 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
Most likely not playing against the Fins bummer but this is a marathon not a sprint and Hyde missing a week or two is better than him having a long term injury. -
How in the world do you stop this offense?
billsfan89 replied to JerseyBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
Pray you can get pressure with your front 4 while doing a two high safety zone look. Force Josh to beat you with shorter throws and running the ball. That’s about all you can do is hope your front 4 are good enough. The Bills WR corps entered that game with everyone but Diggs hurt and then Diggs got hurt early in the game. Not really a fair assessment of the Bills offense give the mass injuries to the WR position. -
The Bills are getting Tre White as their major acquisition and I think maybe there is an outside chance they sign OBJ. But as far as major trade acquisitions I just don’t see any happening unless there is a major injury that is causing major issues. For example if Dawkins or a key Oline player got hurt I could see the Bills trading a 1st replace him. The Bills are in a good position where they don’t have that one need they have to address via in season trade which gives them the ability to patch over a key injury or two if that happens.
-
Not a great effort from him tonight. A good learning experience while Davis gets a week to rest his injury. But Shakir is not a good run blocker and needs to make more of an impact as a receiver. I think he has to put on a little more weight and practice his blocking so that he can be a more complete WR.
-
Too many punts... Seriously though they did a much better job trying to protect Josh and not have him take too many hits.
-
Defense is banged up a bit. Dane is likely going on IR, Hyde hopefully just had a stinger and Phillips hopefully just had a cramp. Better news is that Oliver and Settle will hopefully be back along with Davis on the offensive side of the ball. Getting Settle and Oliver back is big for the D-line which if Phillips is out should compensate. Dane being gone is a loss for sure but if Hyde just has a stinger and is fine I think the defense will be fine going forward.

NFL Week #2 - 9/19/22 Titans at Bills 1st half thread Gameday
billsfan89 replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
Bills need to punch this in have to have that killer instinct and not let up. -
I think Settle and Jackson play, just a feeling but I think the Bills being extra cautious with injuries is a good thing. It's only week two and this is a marathon not a sprint.
-
He still practiced, seems more than likely a sprained ankle.

Week 2 — Titans vs. 🦬 Bills - Predict the score.
billsfan89 replied to SlimShady'sSpaceForce's topic in The Stadium Wall
Bills 35 Titans 17 -
Chargers coming out good against KC but they don’t as a team have much playoff experience that might be the difference for them in the playoffs. Then again Burrow didn’t have any playoff starts and won 3 playoff games so stranger things have happened

D-line looked big and quick up the middle and quick and nasty off the edge. The secondary and linebacking core looked like it picked up from last season but with a bit more athleticism from the corners (which with Tre out is impressive). Looking forward to seeing how the Bills can dominate a Titans team that has had their number the past two seasons.
