  1. I hear he was always quick to press the reset button and grab a few Warsteiners for the boys in the tub.... a loss indeed!
  2. Just saw this and didn't see anything on the board about it. Why would NE do this? Just dumb.... http://www.realgmfootball.com/src_wiretap_archives/18724/20101005/vikings_close_to_acquiring_randy_moss/ Sorry guys and gals, just saw other thread. Delete away....
  3. A fine sentiment indeed, but we are dealing with a sports franchise that all of us on here hold close to our heart. The threat of losing them to OKC or Vegas or LA or Virginia irks us and deservedly so. If Ralph did the appropriate thing and gave carte blanch to a verifiable FO, we wouldn't be in this situation. "At least he's not Al Davis" is the best thing I can say about our owner in regards to the way he runs the Bills.
  4. How about just voting for you to leave? Either you are a troll, a moron or giving your best shot, and miserably failing, at sarcasm. I'm hoping for the first or third alternative because I'd hate to call a Bills fan a moron.
  5. The Seahawks. They are my closest team in proximity and they seem to be another bunch of lovable losers. Went to Qwest Field last week for the game against the Chargers and loved the atmosphere there. Great stadium, incredibly loud and a good group of fans. That being said, they will never be the Bills for me. It's a tough call to ever switch allegiance.
  6. Although we are dealing with a moot point, the history cannot be ignored. That being said, the debate occurs most every year in the draft. This year is no different. As a Pacific Northwesterner, I have been able to see Jake Locker in action a number of times and can tell you that he looked to be a prototype. His last two games have shown that he may be a prototypical bust. All I have been able to see of Luck or Mallet are highlight reels. They are both very, very impressive looking and worthy of top 5 picks based on their highlights. Whether or not that translates is anyones guess. All this means is that QB is a crapshoot in the draft in many instances. We can see things that they do and ways they react in the college game, but that doesn't mean that the stronger, faster NFL game won't change it all. They described Leaf as having pocket presence and strength, and they were both gone in his first series on an NFL field.
  7. Any talk of DeMarcus Love, OT from Arkansas? Ryan Mallett would be a nice pick if Luck stays planted in college another year, but Love is a bona-fide stud at LT and has handled Mallett's blind-side this season with a high degree of success. He was a G, but made the move to LT because of his excellent strength and speed. It would enable us to use him at LT w/ Bell moving to the right, a position better suited for him as he has had issues with power rushers so far in his career. At least whoever starts at QB next year would see the man coming instead of getting Clay Matthews-ed 3 times a game w/o warning. Just noticed yer post. I like your train of thought, but know where you come from w/ the low expectations of our FO. A franchise QB doesn't come around too often and it looks like their might be two in this draft (Luck, Mallett) with a 3rd (Locker) with high potential (boom/bust potential). That being said, if we take one of them, what is to stop them from getting dropped 6 times a game. We need OL help more than anyone in the league. Wood and Levitre (maybe?!) are the only two starters that I could see starting for another team. Bell is a back-up with potential and Hangartner is bench fodder. Green is, simply put, not worth the salary or space on the roster at this point. Is Jamon Meredith that bad that we have to continue to watch a Raiders (!!!!) cast-off start for us at RT?
  8. Even if he is a top 20, he is better than Greggo or Dick. Maybe I overstated that, but he was the best Offensive mind who made himself available for the position. Maybe I should take back my comments about Ralph the cheapskate as his cheapness on the coaching search made me contradict myself.
  9. Originality prevails again. So, Ralph and his "cheapskate ways" have caused us to fail the last 4 drafts, keep a horrible QB as our starter with two less-than-capable back-ups and hire, reputedly, one of the best offensive minds in the game to coach a team whose major weakness was offense? Maybe the coaching situation comes into play, but the QB came down to Nix and Gailey, both of whom had their praises sung by many here on this forum prior to the season. The ineptitude may come all the way down from the top, but there is so much more than Ralphie to blame. We can win with Ralphie upstairs if the people he hires to judge talent and coach can do their jobs to a more than satisfactory level.
  10. Well put. You really can't go in with a better attitude. That being said, at this point I will be watching every second of every game expecting the Bills to lose. That way when they win I will be elated and surprised and if they lose, I won't get as low as I did in week 1. I really expected a better on-field product on the offensive end with Gailey's "offensive mastermind' reputation. I would rather enjoy the rest of my Sunday, as I did this past week, than deal with a Bills loss "hangover". I love the Bills, but there are always three other games to watch every week (Sunday pm, night and Monday night) that I will enjoy a lot more if I'm not brought down by this Bills team.
  11. All decent suggestions, but the trades are so much easier said then done. However, handing over the offensive reins is not in the cards. It's the reason Gailey did not hire an experienced off. coordinator. He is the offensive coordinator at every level.
  12. I know that our players are making errors, but at what point do we not say "hey, who's coaching these guys to play like this?" I think Chan has been far too permissive with Trent and he is simply an enabler; allowing TE to be the passive, scared QB we all know he is. Coaching needs to answer for the way the last two games have gone as much as the players. Check-downs and ball-less play calling go hand-in-hand.
  13. The situation we deal with isn't all about dollars and cents, it's about ballers and sense. Like anyone with the choice, pro football players prefer to play in a comfortable environment, i.e. a warm climate, booming metropolis or a team with a recent winning tradition and/or owner that can see this out and is willing to put his money down to do so. We have none of those. We have a snowy, cold winter/fall (football season), dwindling population, and a 10 year playoff drought in addition to Ralph. We don't attract the true elite FA's because of these reasons and the general lack of elite FA movement in the NFL. It's not MLB, the NBA or the NHL. Elite players rarely move and if they do it is often due to their own indiscretions and behavioural issues. We have had a combination of consecutively poor front offices, poor coaches and poor drafting that have led us to this level of inadequacy. Frugality plays its part, but it is not the biggest part of the equation.
  14. That is truly only two games with valid opportunities to win. That, my friends, is a frightening proposition. This is the team the pundits generally predicted at this point. Let's just pray that Sunday was an aberration and Chan is the offensive mastermind we hoped for.
  15. Good thought, but I'd almost rather see Meredith there, Burgess Meredith that is....
  16. We should be concerned, but less about Kawika's injury and more about the overall state of the defense. They have not looked good and having Torbor and Mitchell on the sidelines isn't gonna help. Let's cross our fingers that there actually are blitz packages that they didn't show in the pre-season, cause Henne needs to get Turf burn in a big way.
  17. I get your point, but I still don't see Cutler riding that pine unless Collins becomes the second coming of Kurt Warner, the ageless wonder.
  18. As little as I enjoy watching Jay Cutler, I doubt Lovie Smith is gonna gamble his job by playing Todd Collins as his starter. Chicago needs Cutler to be the QB we have seen flashes of over his time in DEN and last season in Chicago. Maybe putting him into game one as the back-up would be enough to ignite the intensity he sorely lacks, but Cutler riding the pine through the whole season is a no-go.
  19. The Red Zone has good games, but I'd rather be in WNY next Sunday. Thank gawd for Sunday Ticket!
  20. If anything Al Davis does surprises someone, they live under a rock. That man is a moron who will never see the error of his ways. Mitchell is the beneficiary of stupidity.
  21. There is no way that, after reading this article, you cannot feel for Tony Washington. None of us, hopefully, can truly put ourselves in his shoes or condemn his actions as a 16 year-old, but I think we can all reason that he has paid his debt and that, if he is truly the man portrayed in this article, he deserves an opportunity to play more than Arena football. As noted by a number of posters, with our current OL situation, he may be an ideal candidate to bring in and see what he's got. As for those making "humorous" comments, maybe read the article again (or for the first time) and tell me how you found humor in such a disturbing situation.
  22. Major improvements on offense. I don't think Indy played their best game and their starters were held back signifigantly more than the Bills', but it feels good to get a win under our belt and like the points put on the board. Joique Bell is, as stated a number of times, possessed. I like the way he operates. Spiller is as advertised. If you could bottle his abilities, they would make you millions. That TD run was damn impressive! Evans came up nicely for a big one and Chad Jackson looks to be more than capable. Nobody will mistake us for "The Greatest Show on Turf", but the Bills are actually looking exciting at more times than they have in recent memory.
  23. As someone who posts regularly on two other boards, I can attest to the fact that the TBD forum stands out as a far better group, generally speaking, than most other forums offer. Lori brought a great deal to the table with her analysis and classy work as a mod. Seeing TG leaving TBD obviously effected her. Tim was answering questions to the best of his knowledge and ability. Some members of the board took it upon themselves to be over-critical of his responses and lack thereof. For those calling out TG and Lori for "thin skin"; why do you think that someone who takes time from their day to answer our questions and someone who takes time from their day to moderate and provide pre-game analysis require thick skin? They are volunteering! Lori will be missed, as will Tim. Thanks to the minority for costing the majority the pleasure of their membership on this board. Way to go geniuses!
  24. AS may have been an effective player in the new scheme, but it looks like the Bills are looking for players that are commited to being part of what they are doing from the get-go. Schobel was obviously not giving them what they wanted and they did the right thing. Good for Buddy and Chan for sticking to their guns and setting the tone for their expectations. You don't want to show up and be ready like everyone else? Stay home and retire then...
  25. Thanks Mike! Us out-of-towners immensely appreciate your work!
