  1. No. This is a spectacular decision by an inspired front office. Following the trade of Stevie Johnson to SF, it will be interesting to see if they take Jace Amaro or Austin Seferian-Jenkins in round 2 and double down on offensive threat. They were ready to pull the trigger on Eric Ebron at 9 if the trade for Watkins fell through. Instead, the Lions, who probably were the other bidder for the Cleveland spot, get Ebron as the consolation prize. The other live option out there is the best LG in the draft, Xavier Su'a-Filo, who is still floating around out there. If he is still available at 41, we could finally have a replacement for Levitre and have drafted the best wide receiver (of the decade) and guard in the draft in exchange for next year's 1st round pick.
  2. They've got a high profile location in the same city where the NFL offices are. It's unlikely you'll see any change soon unless it's to MSG.
  3. I went to the University of Iowa, so I catch a lot of their games on TV. Fiedorowicz isn't worthy of a third round draft pick. His hands aren't very good and he looks clumsy and slow to the ball. He's going to be a better college player than pro.
  4. Williams was a fourth round find for Tampa in 2010. He played every game from the time he was drafted until a hamstring tear last season. He's had a history of off-the-field incidents and was stabbed in the thigh by his brother last month following an argument (a fairly small laceration). He has pending misdemeanor charges of aggravated battery and trespassing and is out of pocket some $43,000 in damages for destructive house parties. He was fined by the Bucs more than $200,000 for skipping or being late to rehab sessions for his hamstring injury so we have some attitude issues. Marrone coached Williams at Syracuse but left the team after he was suspended for "academic impropriety." I wonder if the Bucs contributed any money to the deal that we haven't been told yet.
  5. The most likely candidates are a local group made up of Kelly, Pagula, Galisano, or a consolidation of these. However, if Mary Wilson has been presented with a premium deal, for example in the $1.2 - 1.5Billion range from Toronto, LA, or another city, she may leap at such an offer regardless of the ultimate destination of the team. Speculation about Donald Trump taking an ownership stake is far fetched. There are no guarantees but hopefully Mrs. Wilson is as dedicated to keeping the team in Buffalo as her late husband.
  6. There are exactly 32 of these entities in the known universe and the opportunity to purchase a franchise is exceedingly rare. There's going to be a lot of interested parties. Ralph's daughters hold all the cards and they've held them close to the chest up to now and I expect they'll continue to do so until an announcement is made. RIP Ralph. Prayers for JK.
  7. With all the freaking panic I see on this board daily looking to throw EJ Manuel over the side, I thought I'd run an analysis of how quarterbacks who won Super Bowls did their first year starting in the pros. Many quarterbacks had a few starts or no starts at all their rookie season, so I tossed out all of the years prior to the one where they started at least half of all the games on the schedule. Len Dawson (KC) and Jeff Hostetler (NYG) started in earnest in their sixth year, Theismann (WAS) in his fifth. There are now just 31 Super Bowl winning QBs with Russell Wilson's addition this year, out of the hundreds that have been drafted over that period. Based on QB rating, Manuel would slide just above Jim McMahon (15th out of 31: 77.6 rating in 1983). The average SB winning QB started 12.77 games, and was 205.9-359.3 (56.36% comp.) 2485yds 16.1 TDs 13.7 INTs 77.0 QB Rating. Manuel started 10 games, was 180-306 (58.82% comp.) 1972yds 11 TDs 9 INTs 77.7 QB Rating More interestingly, of the top 13 QB rated, only 2 started the majority of their games during their rookie season (Roethlisberger 98.1, Wilson 100.0). Among the 13 Super Bowl winning quarterbacks who took the reins of the team right out of college, Manuel would finish between Joe Flacco (3rd of 13: 80.3 rating in 2008) and Johnny Unitas (4th of 13: 74.0 rating in 1956). If you adjust Manuel's numbers to 16 games from 10, he throws for 3155 yards. Adjusting the other rookie starting QBs, only Peyton Manning throws for more (3739yds). The bottom line is that a great majority of the quarterbacks who went on the win one or more Super Bowls stood on the sideline for at least half a season, frequently longer, holding a clipboard. Among those that didn't, the results were often horrible. Among them: Troy Aikman 1989 11 starts 155-293 (52.9% comp.) 1749yds 9 TDs 18 INTs - won Super Bowl 27, 28, 30 John Elway 1983 10 starts 123-259 (47.49% comp.) 1663yds 7 TDs 14 INTs - won Super Bowl 32, 33 Terry Bradshaw 1970 8 starts 83-218 (38.07% comp.) 1410yds 6 TDs 24 INTs - won Super Bowl 9, 10, 13, 14 For the record, in 1986 after two years with the Houston Gamblers, Jim Kelly started 16 games, was 285-480 3593yds 22 TDs 17 INTs 83.3 QB Rating. The Bills went 4-12 that year. Manuel may be a hit or a bomb but there's no real way to know yet. Just sayin'.
  8. We constantly go to the Steelers coaching well and get burned time after time after time after time. When do we steal a Jacksonville coach and win the Super Bowl?
  9. I'd take Ebron if Watkins isn't available, which I expect he won't be. Take a LT in the 2d round and move Glenn inside to LG. There should still be a quality 3-4 OLB left in round 3 for the taking.
  10. Lost 10 games. Didn't go to the playoffs again. That's all the analysis I need. Should be for them too.
  11. If we can get a quality LT, we can move Glenn inside to LG which is his natural position. That leaves us short a RT. OLB is huge this offseason as is ILB IMHO, but I'd rather see them address it in free agency. Draft for a great TE and a difference making WR. Cut Graham, he was useless this year.
  12. If you cut Byrd, you have to draft Clinton-Dix from Alabama at 9 or overpay a free-agent. Pay Byrd, at least you know what you're getting. Cutting Jackson is senseless - he's our best 1st and 3rd down runner and with injuries, you need Spiller or Jackson on the field. I'd like to see them draft a quality tight end this year, but it'll take him a season to get his sea legs in the NFL. Sign Chandler to a 1-yr contract with an option for a second year. Dareus is being held accountable which is terrific. He's learning that even if you're the 3rd pick overall, you have to play by the same rules as everyone else. It's a good lesson for the whole team. Trading for Vick is like trading for Bledsoe. We'd be getting a retread QB on the downside of his career - even more so with Vick. If you think Manuel is a piece of china, think twice about Vick. Letting SJ go would be welcome as would cutting Crossman loose. SJ looks more and more like a poor man's Terrell Owens every time I watch him.
  13. It's inconceivable to me that we're discussing this. It should be an automatic that Crossman gets his pink slip tomorrow. This is a head coach that has preached results over everything and he serves nothing by keeping him.
  14. If Kolb isn't done, he should be. How many suicides can we withstand? How many ex-players with early onset dementia can we create?
  15. November 7, 1993 - NBC Meet The Press at the end of a Tim Russert and Tom Brokaw sit down interview with President Bill Clinton live from the Oval Office. Tim Russert: Thank you for letting us join you in the Oval Office today. I take it this is the room where you'll invite the Buffalo Bills after they win the Super Bowl. President Clinton: That's right. The Buffalo Bills will be here if they win the Super Bowl this year. Tim Russert: Mr. President, thank you very much. Tom Brokaw: You'll be in office a long time if that's the case. (Laughter) Of course, the Buffalo Bills went on to lose Super Bowl XXVIII, their fourth straight, to Dallas, 30-13. Russert died suddenly on June 13, 2008 after collapsing at the NBC offices in Washington, having never seen the Bills win a Super Bowl. At least he never had to watch these imbeciles play now. 16. Break out the time machine. Convince Art Rooney to take the Buffalo franchise.
  17. When he bombs there, I hear there's some openings in the USFL he could look into.
  18. As soon as we have a new starting QB, Kelly anoints him as the next Jim Kelly that will bring Buffalo back to the Super Bowl. In two years we're going to really miss Buddy Nix. Our secondary is still suspect even with Byrd, Aaron Williams, McKelvin, and Gilmore playing. Marrone is supposed to be an offensive line genius but our left guards couldn't block Emma Watson.
