  1. Like it must have to Carolina fans coming in to the Bills game, this looks like a W on our schedule before the game starts. Geno isn't playing inspired football, but they've managed to split their first two games in spite of it. New York allowed 250 total yards to Tampa Bay and then held New England to just 232 total yards. The good news is that the Jets are averaging only 311 total yards through two games, are -4 on turnover ratio, and are penalty happy too. The Bills hung 436 yards on the Panthers Sunday. The Bills are a 2.5 point road underdog. Carolina gets the Giants this week, we get Baltimore the week after the Jets. No way in hell the Panthers come out of that game anything but 0-3. We're 1-1, but our schedule is still darned difficult. If we lose to the Jets, we drop another winnable division game and will likely be 1-3 after the Ravens game. The Jets are as close to a trap game we'll see this season.
  2. No 100 yard rusher against Buffalo today. Last occurred in 1960.
  3. I was at Jim Kelly's first game at Rich Stadium against the Jets. I was sitting up in the nosebleed section and when he was introduced, the cheering was so loud it was like standing next to a jet engine. Jim got a concussion in the 3rd quarter (dark ages - played the whole game) and we lost. There was a huge sign near the end zone that read, KELLY IS GOD. It's a bright freaking new day in Bills Nation! MANUEL IS GOD
  4. Hopefully, the concussion isn't too bad although it appears from reports it might be. Jim McMahon is having real difficulty with his mind and only had three concussions, but this was one of the three: Linky The most recent of a series of special programs on NFL concussions is appearing on PBS Frontline, October 8 and 15. CTE continues to be a concern and the lawsuit between ex-NFL players and the league now has over 4200 plaintiffs. The subject is so controversial within the league offices that after a meeting between the commissioner and John Skipper from ESPN, the Worldwide Leader pulled its name off the documentary. Linky Linky
  5. Any defense is going to have a tough time being on the field for 81 plays, it's going to have a bad day. The offense just couldn't stay on the field and it shows just how good Manuel is in orchestrating Ben's offense. Kolb is a disappointment in the sense that he hasn't been able to keep up with Manuel, concussions happen to everyone in the game. If Manuel is on the field, more than likely we have the 81 plays and they're scrambling. It's going to be tougher judging some of these players if Tuel has to play the majority of the last pre-season game.
  6. Irsay's a maniac. He was an ass back when he moved the Colts from Baltimore to Indy, and then a genius when the Colts won the Super Bowl. Now he has a cash cow in Andrew Luck and he's pulling a Ralph Wilson by getting in things he shouldn't be into. If he's that upset, fire your head coach that would be hired by the other 31 teams in a flash. Jack ass.
  7. Can I state for the record that these are the all-time dumbest upgrades in the history of stadium upgrades. Not one substantially improves the fan experience. Are you telling me that an awning and new toilets for x million dollars is going to substantially improve the fan experience? They'd have been better off putting restaurants into the stadium and expanded concessions. Lambeau Field's amenities would have been a quality template to work from.
  8. The Jets are down about eleven quarterbacks. They'll probably sign TJ.
  9. I wonder how many Buffalo Way people were going to have to cut to get to the Steeler Way people.
  10. This is the result of at least a half decade of blackmail from Vikings ownership to either build or kiss the team goodbye. Better to build a modern facility first than be under the gun by new owners.
  11. Buffalo Billboard: FIRE CHAN GAILEY or any number of billboard material that has either appeared or needed to appear in the area.
  12. Manuel IS a night and day improvement from Fitz and company. Marrone looks like a fresh face and a real improvement over Gailey. Pettine IS an improvement. Ray Charles would be an improvement over Ralph. This time of year we forget that even great GMs swing and miss half the time. Who those ghastly busts from this year that will make us throw things at the tv are will identify themselves soon enough. A first year QB fresh from the draft who lights up the league is the exception, but I'd like to be optimistic too. Manuel doesn't strike me as "Buffalo billboard" material.
  13. It could be 85-90 degrees this summer. Tell EJ to pack a sweater.
  14. Hey, it worked in college. Hey, Nassib worked in college. The Buffalo Bills support billboard sales.
  15. The Bills will select Nassib at 8 if he's there. He's not worth selecting at 8, but they feel they got burned missing on Tim Tebow and won't make that mistake again, even if it did work out. Last year taught us that the trade floor is wide open, so it's hard to predict how things will fall out and who will be selecting where. If they get Nassib at 8, I wouldn't be surprised to see them trade out of 41 to get those extra picks. Whenever I want to know what the Bills want me to feel about what I already know, I read Chris Brown. I'd sooner believe Mort.
  16. I doubt that his base contract is for much more than $3Million per year. TJax could still win the starting position leaving Kolb to twist in the wind as a backup or even a third stringer behind a draft pick. Even that seems like a lot for an injury prone hurler. Under the circumstances, I could see Kelly the Dog's scenario where we take a 4th rounder and hold out for '14. At least TJax will get a chance to show his skills under a system that hopefully outruns Gailey's instead of watching from home. That was a joke, but of course Fitz was the second coming of Jim Kelly. *cough* *gak*
  17. With Nix's apparent enthusiasm (not) about the 2013 Draft QB class, it's worth speculating as to whether we'll all be throwing any unbolted object at our TVs watching this year's NFL draft. Between our endless needs list and Nix's obvious allergy to drafting QBs, it's not inconceivable that the Bills will pass on the position for an inexplicable fourth year. If Ryan Nassib, who would be an obvious Marrone play, slips through our fingers, the reat of the field pales in comparison to the top 6-8 QBs in 2014. If Nix truly decides to fill holes everywhere else first and give them a year's experience, it could be a long three days for Bills fans. Or will it? Any method to this madness?
  18. There is only one, maybe two 1st round quality QBs in this draft, and it seems even Nix agrees based on his bootlegged comments. Oakland is trolling for a QB and are running out of legit options. Despite the rest of their needs, it's hard to see how Smith gets past 3. E.J. Manuel or Matt Barkley (mistake, IMHO) could get vacuumed up at 9 by the Jets; Arizona could swipe Barkley at 7. Trade out of 8. Take Manuel, Glennon, Nassib further down where it's a considerably shorter reach and fill holes with the additional picks. It might be a busy and complicated round for the Bills since horsetrading is at an all time high on draft day nowadays. Every team knows we need a franchise QB and several will want to trade up in front of us to get the field general they want.
  19. Niagara Falls is the logical choice in my mind. The problem is and always has been that the local government couldn't find water if it fell out of a boat. The development in that city is inconceivably bad. Niagara Falls should be a shining city on a hill, but it's a dump. It's no wonder that people flock to the Canadian side. The outer harbor is another ideal location, but again the local and county government can't agree to move forward. With respect to domes or no domes, who cares? We love crappy weather football and at the same time we love enjoying our sports in comfort (FNC). Cities with domed facilities have no trouble whatsoever with the 12th man. Those places are hell to play in because it's downright impossible to hear the snap count or the audibles. This is a choice fraught with calamity. If they agree on a site and the whole thing grinds to a halt midway in the bureaucracy, it's sunk. Make a decision, any decision, and embrace it and move forward until the doors open. Delay and the whole thing goes to hell.
