  1. Information has been so limited coming out of the Bills camp that you'd think that Whaley or Brandon are the sources of the leaks popularly given on anonymity since no formal announcement has been made. One of the more recent leaks is that the Bills are looking to second interview other candidates and possibly first interview some that aren't presently available due to playoff games. That would include Indianapolis' Pep Hamilton and New England's Josh McDaniels. Among the candidates already interviewed who could be on the second interview playoff waiting list are Seattle's Dan Quinn and Darrell Bavell and Denver's Adam Gase. If they're really excited about Rex, however, I wouldn't wait long to conduct contract negotiations. The Falcons will get their head out of their ass eventually.
  2. No respect, I tell ya. No respect at all.
  3. The site bookmaker.net is carrying odds on who will be the new head coaches of the various teams with vacancies except the Bills, possibly because there is so little white or black smoke emanating from the stovepipe at One Bills Drive. Some of these lines will leave you scratching your head. Atlanta Falcons Rex Ryan -300 Dan Quinn +240 Josh McDaniels +300 Todd Bowles +300 Teryl Austin +300 Adam Gase +400 Chicago Bears Todd Bowles -117 Adam Gase +194 Rex Ryan +222 (in spite of the fact the Bears have repeatedly said they weren't interested in Ryan) Gary Kubiak +281 Pep Hamilton +402 Kyle Shanahan +530 Mike Shanahan +530 New York Jets Dan Quinn -200 Pep Hamilton +260 Todd Bowles +275 Jim Mora +330 Darrell Bevell +500 Hue Jackson +500 Adam Gase +550 (Doug Marrone not even posted) Oakland Raiders Rex Ryan +175 Jack Del Rio +200 Pep Hamilton +200 Tony Sparano +250 Kyle Shanahan +350 Adam Gase +450 Todd Bowles +450 San Francisco 49ers Mike Shanahan +100 Adam Gase +265 Jim Tomsula +265 Vic Fangio +350 Dan Quinn +430 Josh McDaniels +430 Jim Mora +485 Todd Bowles +600 (subject to change)
  4. Buffalo - Frank Reich San Francisco - Mike Shanahan Oakland - Jack Del Rio Atlanta - Josh McDaniels New York Jets - Dan Quinn Chicago - Todd Bowles

  6. Brandon is a great marketer and skillfully guided the Bills through the painful ownership transition which is great but he's no "football man" in any sense of the word. The point behind bringing in an experienced President of Football Operations (czar or whatever) is to repartition the business side from the football side. Brandon may be enjoying life on the football side but shouldn't be offended by being dispatched back to the business side where his strengths lie. Still, egos are easily bruised in this industry.
  7. We'll even throw in Aaron Rodgers but remember EJ Manuel is Jim Kelly so you'd better make him win.
  8. I like Petty too over several other draft prospects. I've seen him down as far as the fifth round in DraftTek.
  9. If Weis were the HC, who would he bring in as a "figurehead" OC?
  10. The Pegula jet set a flight plan to Lawrence, KS this morning leading to the conjecture that the braintrust is interviewing Charlie Weis. Weis, of course, reached his career pinnacle as the offensive coordinator for New England earning three Super Bowl rings. He was rewarded with the head coaching position at his alma-mater Notre Dame. Leaning on previous head coach Ty Willingham's recruiting, ND had consecutive seasons of 9-3 and 10-3 in 2005 and 2006. Then Weis's recruiting became evident with records of 3-9, 7-6, and 6-6 thereafter before the alumni chased him out of South Bend with torches and pitchforks. Weis spent 2010 as OC FOR KC where he had the league's best running offense and he raised Matt Cassell to a career year with 27 TDS AND 5 INTs. The Chiefs went from 4-12 the prior year to 10-6 and a playoff appearance. Inexplicably, he left KC for the University of Florida Oc job where he was unspectacular. His most recent job was as head coach of the Kansas Jayhawks, a recruiting program abyss, where he compiled a 6-22 record over 2+ seasons. Assuming this is true, it would bring the number of Bills candidates to 12. Clearly better suited for the pro game, can he resurrect an anemic Bills offense?
  11. If the Rams owner thinks that LA is going to magically warm to his continually mediocre team, he's nuts.
  12. What kind of a Mickey Mouse team are we looking at here? Stop looking for a coach and get your president of football operations in place and hacking away at the organization. There will be plenty of quality people to choose later, including Schwartz, regardless of who has already been plucked. Fire Overdorf, fire Berchtold, reassign Brandon, fire Whaley.
  13. More importantly, it's time for Lou Saban to go on the wall.
  14. I love that they say he spent all that time with the offensive line. What were they doing? Playing battleship?
  15. It will be interesting to see how coaches respond to Pegula. It's definitely going to be a different experience from the Wilson years. The more radical the changes are that they make, the better the coaches are going to be interested.
  16. With Polian we might have stood a chance. Without him it's hard to see how.
  17. Well, this once again allows the Pegulas to overhaul the organization from top to bottom. I don't feel like they should be in a particular hurry to hire a head coach since anyone worth their salt won't be coming from the in-demand coordinator spots. Based on what I've read on here, I wouldn't be feeling very secure about my job if I were Whaley. If they decide to lean toward Schwartz or Reich, Whaley could be safe. Trying to bring someone like Cowher in, he's going to want the keys to the GM office as well.
  18. Tony Dungy is my best guess. Wouldn't be surprised to see Marty Schottenheimer.
  19. Should be a 4th. It was the entire reason Brown was inactive for so long was to keep him under the performance benchmark.
  20. Aside from the games played and snaps taken mantras, the list looks a bit weak.
  21. Greg Roman would be my first choice if he comes available after the season.
