  1. Not sure I would have predicted 35-3 but I wouldn't have picked the Bills to win straight up, so save me a bite.
  2. Feet are tricky injuries. They can foretell the end of a career or the crippling of one. May be too early to write off Watkins but I'm sure there's more than a little concern over at One Bills Drive.
  3. Easley started out as a decent wide receiver but evolved into one of our best special teams players. Now his career is winding down as his body is breaking down. I have no qualms about him.
  4. Any NFL team should win when they give up just 13 points. Any NFL team should win if they score 31 points. Having dropped two big early season opportunities, I think many of us looked at the schedule at the beginning of the season and thought that 1-3 was a real possibility, and yet could calculate a way to 9 or 10 wins in spite of it. Five of the last six we play are very winable and if we can steal one or two more on the way like we did today, the playoff streak may mercifully end. Meanwhile, Belichek could start a skeleton at QB and win games. I hope A-Lynn pulls a rabbit out of his hat for New England like he did for Arizona. Rex's defense finally looks in order. The corners played inspired football after the humiliation they took from Fitz. He needs to keep them firing for several weeks in a row rather than just onesies. Tyrod didn't have a huge game with his arm, but he didn't need to either. That won't always be the case. He needs to demonstrate to the league that they can't just key on the running game and blitzing. Great to see him using his legs again. I thought Roman forgot he was issued two of them at birth. There may come a day when we build a statue of Taylor, but now isn't the time. Meanwhile, Rex is breathing a lot easier and is reportedly in his element mouthing off about the Patriots. He always wins the week before and loses Sunday, but a lot of Bills coaches didn't win either one, not that that's a consolation. I hope we kill them in Foxboro.
  5. I have heard several different explanations for this firing, from the head scratching to the hysterical. Rex's presser only brought more fog to a pitch black situation. First, it's sooooooo important to realize that Greg Roman is a great football coach. There's no doubt in my mind that he is a great football coach. Why did you make the move now? Well, it was more convenient than doing it on a Sunday. We usually play on Sunday, you know. What did Greg do wrong? Don't want to say. Was the decision to fire Greg yours alone? Yes, I solely casually make decisions about the careers of overpaid coordinators for breakfast. How will things improve under coach Lynn? Roman is such a great coach. What happened to the defense last night? We need to be better. How will the defense improve with coach Lynn at OC? We're going to make the Buffalo Bills great again. How does Lynn differ from Roman? I've been around Lynn for eight years now. I really know about Lynn and how great a coach he is. I knew about Roman tto, when I worked with him at Baltimore. Musta been a brain fart when I hired Roman, Roman sucks, but Roman's a great football coach, did I say that already? My favorite color is blue. Roman is a great, great coach. For a guy who solely made the decision to fire Roman, he seemed perfectly incapable of explaining why he did it and what would improve from doing it. Rex looked like a pawn in a chess game. Conjecture is that Tyrod wasn't getting Watkins the ball enough. Great, but firing Roman doesn't put the ball in Watkins' hands more often if Watkins is on IR. Tyrod does look like he's regressing through two games although it's not much of a sample size for a sophomore QB. Of all the reasons for a "PROFESSIONAL" football team to fire a coach in week 2 was because they're worried about the fan response. The fan response is whatever the fan response is, and I'm livid. But you want your team to have a foundation and a vision and a plan to execute pulling it off that can't be overthrown in one night's panic. Ryan is toast. The Bills are toast. Worse, the players have got to know. The good news is that the next coach will only need three more years to get his players in to play his style of football ro replace the ones that never even got to be Rex's players. Maybe 4-3 is the answer, 3-4 sucks. Nobody plays 3-4 anymore. We need to be better. It's hard to win in the NFL. Somewhere, Mario Williams is saying, "Told ya so."
  6. 5-11 to 6-10 seems most likely. If we start 0-5 or 0-6, the floor's the limit.
  7. You may as well be picking preseason games this early, although after the performance by the offense last week, toss in some mystery injury to Watkins, and I'm less than optimistic this week. I know, I'm the lowly, loser pessimist.
  8. It's one game five days before facing a team that lost to a very good Bengals team by one and who scored way more than thirteen points much less seven. Roman better pull his head out of his @ss by Thursday night or we could be looking at 0-4.
  9. The defense has gelled into the Rex and Rob plan, although some big pieces are missing from the original blueprint. Having former Ravens corner Ed Reed gives the Bills insight into how they might attack us. Tyrod is going up against one of the top defenses in the league, but they are very weak at cornerback. As much as everyone would like to see him start to exploit the middle of the field, this may not be the week for that. Watkins can eat them for lunch. Carpenter is healthy and seems to have the confiidence of Rex so hopefully his extra point issues are behind him. Rex is 6-1 as a head coach and Roman is 5-0 as an OC on opening day. Roman's offenses put up an average of 30 points in those 5 games, including hanging a 27 on the Colts last year In a dominant win. The only caveat being that Rex's one opening day loss was to the Ravens and he is 0-3 as a head coach against him. Never the less, the pieces are in place for an snd to that streak, even on the road.
  10. @Ravens W Jets W Cardinals L @Patriots L @Rams W 49ers W @Dolphins L Patriots L @Seahawks L @Bengals L Jaguars W @Raiders W Steelers L Browns W Dolphins W @Jets W 9-7 Barely miss playoffs
  11. The Bills are a 3 point underdog, 43.5 O/U on the road against the Ravens The Bills are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 opening days The Bills are 5-0-1 ATS in their last 6 on field turf The Bills are 0-3-1 ATS in their last 4 road games Bills vs. Ravens were UNDER the total 5 of their 6 meetings Rex is 6-1 on opening day as a head coach, his only loss occuring against the Ravens in 1990 Greg Roman is 5-0 as an OC on opening day with his teams averaging 30 points Rex is 0-3 against the Ravens as a head coach Prediction: Rex breaks the hex. The running game is largely stymied by the Baltimore defense, but Tyrod and Watkins have a big day (assuming Watkins really is healthy) against two of the worst corners in the league. WIN Bills 23, Ravens 19 Bills 1-0
  12. I'm sorry. Grow up NFL. For that matter, grow up New York and the federal government. The verdict is in on the whole "Refer Madness" bs. There's no one in Colorado or Washington state going on a manic bender from marijuana use. Incredulously, the feds continue to prosecute growers in those two states with potential 20+ year sentences. Synthetic marijuana can be a massive health hazard as one can't know what has been mixed into the hybrid and should be a banned substance, but ordinary stuff is pretty ordinary in the end. Take a mature stand, NFL, and end this stupidity once and for all.
  13. The Bills will get swept by New England but pull the upset against Arizona. They will be 5-1 in their final six games of the season and lose the tiebreaker to New England for the AFC East division due to their head-to-head games.
  14. The time of the professional football cheerleader has past. The profession only stands to demean women in modern society.
  15. Tony Hunter TE Notre Dame. Taken in the first round in 1983 before Jim Kelly. Two years later, the scouting report on him was he couldn't block Nancy Reagan.
  16. My belief is that, barring injuries, the defense will improve this year. The offense may stall a bit, but if the offensive line can hold together - no simple task, then it all comes down to the health of Tyrod Taylor who looks every bit the franchise quarterback. Healthy, we win games, not healthy, we're at the whim of EJ Manuel's arm, and well... Manuel in the game endangers Whaley. We could go 2-14 with Manuel under center, but I wouldn't put the blame at Rex's feet for that. We've had ample opportunity to draft or obtain a credible backup, and no offense to Cardale Jones, but he's just not ready for the role. Manuel will be the end of Whaley and he needs to reach that conclusion sooner than later if he wants to keep his job. Absent of an injury to Taylor is where Rex is vulnerable. We were 8-8 with a decimated team. We won't be as snake bit with injuries as last season because it just couldn't be worse than last season. A season with a healthy starting quarterback will be expected to exceed a .500 record given the expectations of the defense. If Tyrod can exploit the middle as he did the sideline last season, Rex need not worry.
  17. Either way, the nail was hammered in when the ref got bumped and a potential 50 yard FG got turned into a 35 yarder, assuming Ben didn't pick up any more yards. When the fumble occurred after the Big Ben interception, "Pisarchek" rolled out of my mouth.
