Picks 7 through 10 a crap shoot just look at 2006-2011
Billsrhody replied to shoretalk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Very nice read, thanks for putting the time in. While it does seem that there are a lot of busts in that group, there is also some really good talent to be had. Interesting to look at WR and OT, the two positions we're most likely to go for with that pick. WR Ginn: probably a bust for how high he was drafted, but still a good role player Heyward-Bay: looked like a bust after his first 2 seasons, but seemed to really come into his own last year Crabtree: solid production for a player without a good QB for his first 3 years Jones: seems to be a rising star and big time playmaker in the league OT Monroe: solid starter for the jags, seems consistant and durable Smith: Came right in and made a difference for the Cowboys I'm pretty optimistic after seeing the players drafted at our current positions of need. -
Michael Floyd - Sports Science

Fitz is 6-2, which is definitely on the shorter end of the scale. It sounds like one of the criteria for finding a franchise quarterback should be height.. try to find a guy between 6'2" - 6'5". Obviously there will be a few outliers (Brees, Vick) but it's probably a pretty good place to start. Luck is 6'4", RGIII is 6'2", Tannehill is 6'4".
-
Well the article is focused on QBs who are 6'6" and taller. Osweiler is 6'8". There are plenty of 6'5" QBs who have been successful (Peyton Manning, Pillip Rivers), thats probably right around the average height for an NFL QB.
-
Interesting article on NFL.com featured around Brock Osweiler: Osweiler hopes to outshine NFL's tallest QBs I know there are some who believe we should draft Osweiler in the 2nd or 3rd round... but this article provides some evidence against it.

Phil Sims comments about Tannehill
Billsrhody replied to KevinRome's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So lets assume Tannehill goes before the bills pick. That means the following 7 are definitely off the board before Buffalo: 3 Quarterbacks (Luck, RGIII, Tannehill) 1 Wide Receiver (Blackmon) 1 Running Back (Richardson 1 Left Tackle (Kalil) 1 Corner Back (Claiborne) That essentially leaves 2 wild card picks, with the most likely picks being (DE Ingram, DT Poe, DE Coples, WR Floyd, OT Reiff) Lets hope those 2 picks end up being pass rushers.. then we'll pretty much have our pick whether it be Kuechly, Floyd, or Reiff. -
Claiborne gets a 4 in the wonderlic
Billsrhody replied to richNjoisy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I just tried to find an interview with Claiborne so I could see how well he speaks and was surprised to find absolutely nothing on youtube or through google... This kid is a Top 5 pick and there are no interviews of him? I wonder if the "Claiborne Camp" is keeping all of that stuff under wraps because it could hurt his draft stock.. I remember watching an interview of Leodis McKelvin after the bills drafted him and being like -
Belichick hates losing to Buffalo because he knows his team should beat Buffalo.. I'm sure he would be just as mad if the Patriots lost to the Browns or the Jaguars.

Mario Williams: Officially a Buffalo Bill

Is this thread back from the grave?? -
Starting to look like Tannehill wont make it past 8 at the latest..

I dont know why people keep comparing him to Poz.. College stats: Kuechly Stats Poz Stats Combine Results: Kuechly Combine Poz Combine Kuechly is bigger and is a better athlete in every combine category. He has monster college statistics and produced at an extremely high level for 3 years. He has practically as many solo tackles as Poz does total tackles and he has much better numbers in defending the pass. If you watch tape on Kuechly he is fluid and moves very well. Kuechly is not Poz and to say that no one knew him before a week ago is foolish: 2009 ACC defensive rookie of the year 2010 All-American, butkis and nagurski awards finalist 2011 All-American, butkis award winner He's done nothing but produce.
-
After reading this thread I can't help but think that Kuechly should be the pick. He's as solid as it gets as a linebacker prospect and he'll instantly start and improve our linebacking corps. In Kuechly we'll get a linebacker for the next 10-12 years who will shore up our run defense and play solid pass coverage. We have a veteran (Barnett) who can show him the ropes and help him gain valuable experience before he moves on or retires. If we're thinking about the future then I think this would be a great pick. People seem to think that all our defensive problems are solved with the addition of Mario and Anderson, but it is still the weakness on our team. Time to plug some holes!

CJ or Fred? You can only keep one
Billsrhody replied to FrankReichComeback's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just because Freddy has only been in the NFL for 6 years does not mean he wasnt playing football before that. His legs arent any fresher.. they have just as much mileage as every running back in the NFL who is 31. -
Why cant it be September
-
Where are you guys getting your information to back up the theory that Kuechly is soft? I'd love to see it..

CJ or Fred? You can only keep one
Billsrhody replied to FrankReichComeback's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Love the idea and think this is a great thread... It presents a realistic scenario that the bills may have to address at the end of next season. I chose CJ and I think thats really the only way to go if you're thinking about the future at all. If it were just for this next season, I would definitely pick Freddy, but the fact that he just turned 31 and may only have a couple good years left makes it impractical to pick him over CJ (who turns 25 in August) who just had a breakout year and shows signs of having huge potential. -

I think its hard for fans to see us pass on talents like Ngata and Orakpo and instead end up with guys like Whitner and Maybin. I know that there are regrets in every draft.. but in these 2 cases almost everyone with an opinion thought that the Bills should draft Ngata and Orakpo. I know that was the old regime, but those draft mishaps are still fresh in every fan's mind. Its difficult to imagine anyone putting together a complete draft as an amateur because most fans have a job or family that takes up the majority of their time. NFL GM's can spend 10 hours a day watching tape and scouting players so of course they see more than the average fan. I also disagree with the notion that you can just "watch games" and come up with a good idea of the talented players in the draft. Even if you spent all your free time watching college football, you wouldnt be able to watch every game for every team. Did any of you fans have a beat on Stevie Johnson before the bills drafted him? How about Kyle Williams? The late rounds are what really transforms a teams draft. There are 1st round busts every year and thats not going to change. Dont be naive and think you can scout an entire draft pool from top to bottom as a fan. Its fine to have an opinion on the guys you do know. In fact thats what makes speculating about the draft so much fun. But lets not confuse round 1 with rounds 2-7. Thats a completely different animal.

Why Stephen Hill WILL be the pick at number 10.
Billsrhody replied to mob16151's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Man this is a tough one.. I reaally hate his production and the system he was in at GT. I reaally love his measurables and his ability to get up and make spectacular catches. With some of those 1 handed grabs I almost couldnt tell if it was Hill or Calvin Johnson in that GT uniform. I dont know much about it because I dont remember him standing out in any of the GT games I've watched in the past year.. but that highlight video is impressive to say the least. I would love him on the Bills.. but I dont think I would be willing to take a risk on him with the #10 pick. -
3 guys I want in the draft...
Billsrhody replied to FleaMoulds80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Didnt look like he was going up against any "top tier" corners in that video. He does look intriguing but I'm not sure you get a good idea of what he can do by watching him play against D3 opponents -
Do you remember the great interception that Chase Blackburn had over Gronkowski in the super bowl? He isn't exactly a household name and I doubt too many people know who he is... but it doesnt hurt to have talent at every position
-
Barnett is aging and injury prone, Sheppard is an unproven 2nd round pick from a year ago. If the front office thinks Kuechly is going to be a great player for 10 years, why wouldn't you draft him? Just because we have 2 starters penciled in to the starting lineup right now does not mean we cant improve on them. What has Sheppard shown you to make you think he's going to be a better NFL player than Luke Kuechly?

Who would you like to see the Bills get?
Billsrhody replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would want London Fletcher back.. but i just dont think its practical.
