Man just give Josh one Amari Cooper level receiver

That's one I wish they would have gone for. -
A successful run game would do wonders for Allen
Magox replied to Ramza86's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I keep hearing the argument that Julio Jones is too old to be trading for. I disagree, rarely do you get an opportunity to have a "Superbowl window" and I think Julio has another 3-5 good years left in him. I happen to be in the camp that Allen will make a big 2nd year jump and that if you surround him with a decent offensive line and a couple really good weapons along with what we have that we will begin entering into our "Superbowl window". And Julio Jones is an elite level WR and if you can get him and he's able to perform at a good to high level for the next 3-5 years then you go for it. -
A Few Thoughts About the Jets Game, in no particular order
Magox replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That was a big miss, he should have played more to outside contain and seemed to misread it thinking he was going to power it in behind the linemen that was blocking him. If he had played it to the outside he would have made the stop. Unfortunate miss. In his rookie year! I'll take it! Next year he will be 45 home run guy with a .265 average -
What Was the Primary Reason the Bills Lost (NYJ)?
Magox replied to Gugny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Special teams and red zone defense. Over the past 2 weeks the number one culprit has been red zone defense. We don't give up many yards but the yards the other teams have put up the past 2 weeks have led to points. Last week Miami was 3 for 3 in the red zone and for that reason they won. This week Jets were 2-3 in the red zone and that heavily contributed. We are top 2 in the league in yards given up yet we are in the middle of the pack in points allowed. Last year it was the opposite. The makings are there to have a very good defense but until they straighten out their red zone defense we won't be elite. Currently Bills are 27th in the league in red zone defense. -
Ball Security Not all that Important to Josh Allen
Magox replied to RobH063's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can't remember who said it, I think Tony Romo but it was something along the lines that he'd like to see these young rookie QB's take more chances and if that means turning it over, so be it. With that said, that was a horrible decision by Allen on that one pick and I'm sure that he'll learn from it. The last pick at the end of the game, I think he had predetermined that he was going to throw to Zay and was surprised to see the DB drift back. Not a good play by Josh Allen and that play believe it or not to me is a little more difficult to learn from. The first was just a bad decision, the second was not reading the play correctly. Another area that Allen needs to work on is his touch. Although Clay dropped that pass in the first half (Which he should have caught) it wasn't so much that it was too low which it was, I think it was somewhere around knee to thigh high it was that Clay had a couple steps on his man and he needed to recognize that he didn't have to hurry the pass as much as that he did and that in some circumstances it is ok to take something off the ball. That could have been a huge gainer. He's done that quite a few times this year where the receiver is not being tightly covered where he still tries to zing it in there when it is not necessary. That is something else I believe he will make a huge leap in his second year. There is a lot to be optimistic about Allen. He is the offense and he's putting up good overall totals with a team that is devoid of playmakers and an offensive line. -
I believe Beane will get us the Olinemen, TE, RB and WR's for us to compete via FA and the draft. I believe that McD will continue to get good effort from his players and have this team playing more disciplined football and better red zone D. I believe that special teams will get better next year. I believe Josh Allen will have a significant 2nd year progression And I believe this team will compete for the division title next year. This is what I expect and believe will happen.

Week 14: Bills vs. Jets Postgame

Plenty of positives to build on. With that said the offensive line is terrible. Special teams is terrible. And the red zone defense over the past two weeks has been terrible. -
Bills have released Kelvin Benjamin and Andre Holmes
Magox replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No probably not, but you would have wanted to sign an often-injured player who averages 600 yard receiving to a $17 Million a year contract. -
I think you will see more blitzes against him, with that said on a couple of the nice runs he made this past week they were on blitzes. If they don't get to him and he's able to avoid the rush and either look down the field and go deep or take off running that could expose defenses. But I do think that is how defenses will adjust, with more blitz packages.
-
He's not top 3 but certainly top 10 and possibly top 8 which in today's league is a feat.
-
I honestly don't know who to go after. But my hopes are that we get a quality WR, TE and a couple higher end Offensive linemen via FA. And that we try to find our #1 WR ,Shady's eventual replacement, Olinemen, Lorax's replacement and more DB depth through the draft.

That article got me to thinking that is could be a long-term offensive strategy for Allen. He arguably has the best arm in the league and elite QB level mobility/speed. Just imagine Receiver routes for the most part running intermediate to deep routes down the field with the RB staying in to help chip block and then letting loose on delay freeing himself up with 1 on 1 coverage with LB's in the middle of the field with the threat of Allen running. I think this is the perfect approach for Allen at this stage because it opens up the field and allows him to make reads easier than a bunch of bunched up receiver routes within 20 yards of the LOS. I may be going overboard but if we can get some speed weapons to compliment this approach this could revolutionize the league in a way that only a select few QB's could pull off. Allen has what it takes to do this because he has the mobility to buy enough time to allow receivers to get open on those sort of routes and the arm to make the 30-40 yard throws on a rope so that the DB's can't make the plays they normally can when the ball has to be lofted with more airtime. That article was eye-popping for me and I certainly hope that is something they continue to try to develop.

That's one of the best breakdowns I have read yet.

You mean to tell me that Sammy will have YET another season where he is hobbled by injuries? Man, did our FO make yet another horrible decision trading away Watkins for 2 seasons of sub 600 yard receiving, plagued by injuries for a 2nd rounder that helped us land Josh Allen. Which is precisely the argument that I and some other posters here made, which is that although Sammy shows flashes of elite level receiving, he has never been able to put it together on a consistent basis. That and that he was a higher risk of being injured than what you'd like for a player that you'd have to pay top dollar. But noooooo. His defenders made up all these excuses of why he was inconsistent. " That it was Tyrod's fault. That he had no QB's to throw to him. That Goff wasn't a good fit for him. That he truly wasn't injury prone" and then went off to give these insane examples and statistics showing us that our lying eyes were just lying eyes. Well, these past 2 years is a personification of all the doubts that we said about him, which is that he's inconsistent and has too many injury risks. And that is precisely what we've seen.

It's becoming increasingly clear that trading away Dareus and Watkins were moves that made A WHOLE LOT OF SENSE for the Bills. Watkins is not worth $17 million a year let alone for the Bills. Dareus is one strike away from being suspended/expelled from the league and has shown that he will never be the player that he once was. Star was brought on to clog up running lanes and free up the LB's and that is precisely what he has done. Did we overpay to get him? Yes, probably by a couple million a year but the Bills desperately needed a CONSISTENT run plugger and without doubt he has brought stability to our interior Run D. Not to mention that Sammy and Dareus did not fit into the mental sort of makeup that they wanted and say what you will, McD/Beane have a clear vision of what they want and I'm completely onboard with what they are doing.

Baldy's Breakdown of Allen vs. Miami
Magox replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Allen will never be an elite level Passer from the pocket, I think at best he'll be ok. Which is fine with me. Where he will make a name for himself will be out of the pocket, similar to that of Rodgers, Russel Wilson and Big Ben. That's where he will become an elite QB, making plays from outside of the pocket. -
That was an amazing run. I can't remember a run that had so many stiff arms against 3 different players.

I am very optimistic that we have the GM, coach and QB that will lead us to many playoffs over the next decade.

Josh Allen has become the leader of this football team
Magox replied to Rufridr101's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He is the leader of the offense. He is the show. -
A big resounding yes for both Lorax and Kyle Williams. Until they show signs of obvious regression you extend them.

OK. I'll Say It-Allen will be best Bills QB ever
Magox replied to beacon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Prescient? You predicted 2-14 for last year after a loss and cited trading Watkins and the cutting of the backup rb legendary JAG Williams as a reason why that would be our record. We finished 9-7, went to the playoffs for the first time in well over a decade, Watkins went on to have a sub 600 yard receiving year and was 4th on the team in receptions and William's is....well where is Williams? Prescient ? -

Is it about as outrageous as coming on to the board after a loss last year to proclaim the Bill's sucked so bad and that the trade of Sammy Watkins would lead to a 2-14 record? Asking for a friend
