I wonder if it's going to feel the same way the next time we beat the Patriots. I believe that this is the ONLY game in NFL history with no punts.
-
Well, it looks like Kyle Orton is going to have to carry the flag for me. I'd feel worse if it had Fitz though...

That's nice. He is my fantasy quarterback.

Can't argue with that. -

Barney Miller tried to kill somebody? I always thought that he was too preoccupied with trying to make sure that there was nothing going on between Jack and the girls. -
So much for the "flashes" that Pianalto showed. Sounds promising.

Overall view of the 53 Man Roster
vincec replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think that it's a step up but overall I don't think that it's that significant. The defense is definitely improved but I think the offense will regress slightly from last season. The overall end product will be slightly better. -
I would probably downgrade the TE position. Bills have a decent prospect in Chandler, but more importantly I just don't think that it's a high priority for Gailey to find one and definitely not on the same level as a franchise QB or OTs. I would also think about upgrading LT. I know some of this will depend on Bell's season, but really he looks like a journeyman type player and Gailey doesn't really seem that high on him.

Well, they're about to sign this one. http://espn.go.com/boston/nfl/story/_/id/6929918/new-england-patriots-sign-brian-waters-source-says

Not holding my breath, NGU

You say this, but I don't get the feeling that you really believe it. Most people only want to hear information that reinforces their pre-existing beliefs. All other information is called into question. Since there is no way for the common person to know what is true everything is treated as spin. That is the nature of the world we live in. -
Or just wait one more year for Tebow to be cut. He's steadily working his way down the depth chart and towards the door.
-
All it takes for younger players to get playing time is for the coach to tell them go go out on the field. McGee will not tie them to the bench. Are the future prospects of the #5 corner on the team more valuable than a veteran starter, even over a 3 or 4 year period? Unlikely. I mean who are they cutting McGee to make room for??? Then why not wait two years to cut him? I don't believe that the Bill are intentionally playing to lose so that they can improve their draft position. If this was really true, then I would never support this team again, but I don't believe it. Professional players and coaches want to perform well and be successful. Their jobs are on the line.
-
Now that's funny.
-
Unless McGee is not one of the best 5 cornerbacks on the team, cutting him is a cost saving move plain and simple. Since the Bills are well under the salary cap there is no reason to do this from a football perspective.

I wouldn't say a bust, but it doesn't look like there are any home runs. Carrington, Moats, Easley, Batten and Troup all look like possible starters/backups. Carrington, Easley or Batten may even be starting by year's end. That's not bad for their second year. I also think that Moats is being misused.
-
That's no surprise since the right side was manned by Howard. I was, however, surprised by how badly Rinehart did. Did Gailey really think that this was a starter a couple of weeks ago?
-
I wouldn't say that he's "horrible" but he definitely is not starting material right now.
-
I agree. Hairston got beat a couple of other times too, but he's definitely the best backup option at tackle as Howard was a turnstile tonight. I think that Coleman did enough to beat out Eddins. Tasker said that he thought the Bills would keep 5 RBs, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was only 4 which would mean that either White or Hall get cut. Probably no chance that it's White, so if that's the case Hall is gone despite a decent game. I would also throw in Brown as having played well. I know that it's with the 3rd stringers but the minute he came in the offense started to move after 3-1/2 quarters of stinking with Thigpen in there. As has been mentioned, Thigpen really should be cut based on his pre-season but Gailey has likely already made the decision to keep him based on practice (like he did with T Edwards). I also have to say that I thought Kellen Heard looked pretty solid again. He really should make the team with everybody's favorite (Jasper) getting cut, IMO.

I have actually wondered about this. While players like have been sitting out practices and games with reportedly very minor injuries, Dareus has been practicing and playing through his. Why? Is he trying to show his toughness to the team or does he feel so far behind as a rookie starter that he needs to be on the field? You'd think that he'd be one of the guys that the Bills would be eager to protect in anticipation of a long season.

Your 53 Man Roster and Practice Squad...
vincec replied to Astrobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nailed it. Just add Corto or Martin and you're done. -
Just watched the first half of that game on NFL.com. I'd say that the problem was primarily with Brady and not the OL. He just seemed to be so slow making a decision and releasing the ball plus he definitely had happy feet and many of this throws were way off. If that was Fitzpatrick back there it would've been a different story.
-
Carrington basically is playing as a 4-3 DE. He lines up in a down stance and I only saw him drop into coverage one time when he was out there (although I may have missed one), so he is basically playing like a 4-3 DE. At one of the after practice press conferences Gailey said that although Carrington is a good athlete he would be rushing the passer the vast majority of the times he lines up as OLB.
-
Carrington will get some snaps during games. If for no other reason than he is bigger than Kelsay. Gailey likes that. We will also see some of Batten because I am still skeptical that Merriman can make it through the entire season.
