  1. This is an inaccurate account of my original post...I clearly stated that overall I agree with Polian ( not all comments) in regards to using in game analytics & metrics as a tool for making game day decisions. Rather than the notions of using league statistics & trends overall for situational football... I further agree with BP assessment that this information gather league wide are based upon the team overall game plan and favorable match ups identified through film study. The fact that certain offensive formations and Team X's counter formations reveals either a favorable or non favorable match up to exploit, not just statistical trends and percentages.
  2. I'll agree to disagree... For clarification, are you saying that regardless of the match up being, not favorable in this case. The decision making process should be based upon current overall league analytics & metrics as opposed to actual in game metrics ?
  3. Bill Polian talks the relevance of analytics Overall, I agree with him in regards as how to use the stats as a base in decision making. The stats don't take into account the moment in time or if a perceived advantage in a game, actually goes according to plan. So to say that going for it on 4th & 2 against team X's Defense, works x% of the time and therefore increase the chances of being successful? The statistics IMO, don't take into account that these situations (short yardage) may have taken place in the current game on prior downs and the offense has not executed the plays or controlled the LOS as well against team X defense. Does these in game facts play against the overall statistics league wide and drive the coaches decision making? I would think they should... Stats should play a factor in decision making, if a perceive offensive advantage goes according to the teams overall game plan.
  4. Classic case of the unknown is always better than the reality... Nassib has yet to even beat out camp competition to start for a team but there still you guy's that believe there a case for him. LOL There an argument that if the Bills and Jets would have let EJ & Geno sit for a year or 2 to develop, that they could have been serviceable starters in the league. How much nurturing does Nassib need to show promise? 5 more years? Until then you're comparing apples to oranges but flame on...
  5. THANK YOU! Some posters are so NARROW-MIND that they let their basis cloud the facts! It was well know and talked about on this site that regardless of the free agent signings, as long as 3 of them were not on the roster by week 10 the comp picks were in effect...Even Beane acknowledged awareness of the rule. But the blame Whaley chant continues from some...smh!
  6. Of the choices posed, Choice A - would be one helluva off season, IMO.
  7. When you say serviceable NFL Starter, Tannehill is not what comes to my mind...Serviceable is Dalton, Flacco or A. Smith. Imo, Tannehill is a fringe player paid top 10 QB salary... I totally agree with your assessment of Darnold, he's going to need some development.
  8. That would be some haul for a guy not yet vetted in the league...re: Brock Oswelter(sp?)2015
  9. Its like the old adage; " those who can't do , become teachers or coaches".
  10. Don't forget the carryover money from year's past that is still at McBean's disposal currently ...they have flexibility this year if they want and the right FA is there for the taken.
  11. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/eagles-player-says-team-ran-fake-walkthrough-to-throw-off-patriots/ar-BBITwC6?li=BBnb7Kz “I believe our whole walk-through was just a complete fake walk-through,” Lovato told “The Ron and JP Show“. “We did it at the stadium. There were certain people walking around. . . . I believe I overheard someone say a lot of the plays we were running weren’t even in the playbook for the Super Bowl.”
  12. My wish list...it doesn't have to make sense to them, LOL. I am hoping Cleveland wants to draft one of the falling OT's in the draft and want to beef up the OL for their new QB & RB...
  13. My top 5 (6 after the trade) college draft shopping list would include (before FA's): 1st- DT-Vita Vea or Hurst 1st- trade for 2nd & 3rd w/ Cleve 2nd- ILB-Malik Jefferson 2nd- OLB- U. Nwosu 2nd- QB- M. Rudolph 3rd- CB- McFadden 3rd- TE- M. Andrews
  14. I would like to see Austin with this new OC using him with the jet- sweep potential(& threat) and wheel routes out of the slot. Quinn would fill an obvious need as well...DB Ammerman (Raiders) was also released and is a potential pickup w/o compensation.
  15. Wins (percentage) trumps all...his GWD is one away from Fitz in 11 less games & tied with Drew and also a better completion pct., as well... Yeah, I have him as the best of those three listed during the drought.
  16. 17. TT is a model player & representative of the Bills organization, I really don't get the "hate" that he receives from some fans. I understand that you don't like his style of QB'ing but overall his record is better than .500 and off the field he is a great representative of this team, organization and City. I really wish the best for him, he is a class act. Some here could only wish they had the class to deal with blowhard's on a daily basis with style & grace. He really doesn't deserve it, imo.
  18. If we are going coaches the most obvious selection for me would be none other than, drum roll please...Mike Malarkey and the heart wrenching loss to the Steelers backups for what could have ended the drought years ago!
  19. I like this approach...I agree Miller is back in business with the new scheme. I'll add the OL drafted in 2 or 3 rds will be Richie's replacement after a year because Richie had a lot of holding calls this year that stalled many promising drives, imo.
  20. 1) As a fair(er) comparison why not look at total TD's? Its well know that TT also score TD with his legs... Also, let's get a better overall total QB comparison: KC- 27 TD passes, 13 INT's W/L 7-9 (overall record 26-30-1)- existing offensive system 2017 TT - 14 TD passes, 4 INT's, W/L 8-6 (overall record 22-20)- new offensive system 2017 KC is a far better passer indeed but what does that get you? He needs a supporting case around him to succeed, see his total overall W/L record. But how do you surround him with the necessary talent when his contract will account for a large portion of the cap? Is the cost to sign KC worth eating up 25+ Mil of the payroll? That's franchise QB money and KC is a slightly above average QB who has a TD/INT ratio of 2:1 and a below .500 career winning percentage. 2) Since we're going hypothetical's , If KC was on this team hypothetically speaking we would be 7-9 and we would NOT have even played Jax in the playoffs, ijs.
  21. Just to clear things up...Whaley ran the draft process as per usual, he did in a collaborative fashion ( as he has done with the prior coaches during his tenure) as stated in this article. I stand by my initial stance that DW is a good evaluator of talent, with Rex & co the only request for DW & staff was to acquire good football players and his coaches would teach them how to fit the scheme. https://www.democratandchronicle.com/story/sports/2018/01/19/tredavious-white-dion-dawkins-matt-milano-zay-jones-led-buffalo-bills-rookie-class/1047316001/
  22. That's a stretch...two entirely different QB styles. Bridgewater started his first 2 yrs right out of college at the position and was trending upward ( Coach Zimmer loves the kids work ethic). Your comparison to TT, after being in the league 5-6 years w/ 4 yrs preparation prior to taking the starting helm is not a fair comparison ( especially stats wise) , imo. A better comparison would be Bridgewater to Dalton, Flacco or Tennyhill after their first 2 season. These are basically all the same type pocket passers thrown in the fire their first 2 yrs in the league.
  23. So how is he a younger, less mobile TT? Bridgewater is a pocket passer more inline with the traditional NFL QB. That's NOT TT, at all.
  24. What about the other range of times recorded, 4.65 and 4.67? If being a track star is a prerequisite for your LB's that's fine...Most NFL LB's sprint forward something like 10-20 yds (unless they are on ST coverage units), loose hips, stacking, shedding and tackling are better characteristics of a NFL LB, imo. In a zone defensive scheme ala McD defense the LB are asked to drop into passing lanes the majority of the time, where a LB's instincts and game prep are major variables to success. BTW, I am not a proponent of this guy. I just don't value straight line 40 times as a gauge for judging LB success in the NFL.
