  1. Did you read the article? Levitre was not a fit for the system & coming off a 2nd surgery in the off season. The Bills still wanted to keep him but NOT a $8M / year. He was labeled as underperforming with the Titan who in turn released him...the GM's job is to find the talent required for the HC style of play.
  2. That wasn't the case...the Bills were outbid and by a pretty good margin. http://www.espn.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/73799/bills-took-risk-and-lost-g-andy-levitre http://thesportsdaily.com/2013/06/03/buffalo-bills-avoided-taking-a-gamble-on-andy-levitre-2/
  3. Levitre signed one of the largest contracts for an interior lineman the year of his free agency, Bills were wise to move on...he was deemed not a fit for the new offense, which moved more to an inside zone type that required size over a mobile OG. Sometimes that is the case, please stop with trying to lay blame.
  4. Are you sure about this? IIRC, NP was named the starter & practiced the whole week with the 1st team offense, it was after TT disaster the week before...I think it was after the Saints game. I hate to interject your rant with some facts... http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000877668/article/bills-bench-qb-tyrod-taylor-nathan-peterman-to-start
  5. This sounds like NP was named the starter of the Chargers game, on game day. He had a weeks preparations but I digress... You can't have it both ways with this guy. You previously stated that he was an upgrade over TT (another late round draft pick), with an overall regular season winning record, and by your own admission NP is a typical (sic) limited rookie QB. How is he an upgrade? I have stated on the record that TT is very limited as a QB but each week he didn't hurt the team with turnovers and NP scares the life out of me because he is limited as well but adds the sacks & turnover effect to the equation which will equate to a very long season for this Bills fan. My hope is that I'm wrong and NP plays lights out but J. Allen is developing so well that he takes over after the bye week! ? Go Bills!
  6. You make it seem as if NP is only being judged by the Chargers game, he has thrown INT's or looked shaky in every game that he has played. Correction, he was injured early in the snow game against Indy. I don't think he threw an INT in that game...? I guess Greg is echoing the thoughts of every DB we will face this year...?
  7. I agree NP acknowledges WR's but he seems to NOT acknowledge the DB squatting on the route either... Your yelling each game may go from, " throw the (expletive) ball 20 times" to "DON"T throw that (expletive) ball/pass NP" 20 times a game. HILARIOUS !!!!
  8. Obviously hyperbole! Is this a new phenomenon? I think your view of EJ is based upon where he was drafted...It only takes one team to value a player with a first round grade. Nix's liked him as a prospect but it didn't workout. EJ's a very good guy and model teammate on & off the field. Teams miss on QB prospects every year, get over it. The QB position is always overvalued, IMO. Exhibit A- Mike Glennon (his signings borders on the criminal) Mark Sanchez Derek Anderson (how is he still in the league? mind boggling) Any McCown brother Jay Cutler Ryan Fitzpatrick (I love the guy) David Gerrard Josh Freeman
  9. Pump the breaks bud...Game 1 of preseason are basically a high tempo scrimmage with an official score for the books. Pre-season Defensive Schemes in a nutshell: Game 1- Base defense (unless you are Gregg Williams) with the intent of reinforcing the fundamentals of the scheme in live action, rarely any pressures or blitzes. Game 2- Base defensive scheme with situational pressure & Blitz packages Game 3- Warm up to regular season planning & a good defensive identity starts to take form. Game 4- Rest the players that will make the team.
  10. Guess Cam isn't on KB Christmas Card list this year, LOL! I give Cam credit for approaching KB like a man...I respectfully credit KB for standing up & not being phony while the cameras roll. I hope time will heal whatever their problems are...
  11. Building a new stadium is a very polarizing topic on a discussion board. We are all Bills fans and everyone has there likes & dislikes... My reasons for wanting a new stadium & location: 1- The current location is built in the snow belt and was a bad idea from the start. Just because we're use to it being there, doesn't change the fact, imo. 2- The fan experience is exclusively dependent upon tailgating which leads to overserved fanatics that impinge upon the ridiculous & make the environment unsafe pre & post game. Very much a major lawsuit in the waiting... 3- Due to the location being that it is, there is no flexibility in the use of the site. In this day & age a mid-sized metro area needs to get the bang for the buck and use the site for no more than 8-10 Sunday's per year. 4- A urban/downtown site is a better location if the surrounding area is tied to a larger development plan. Having a convention center connected to a facility would allow for larger conventions to come to the city in the off-season and spur local business opportunities with foot traffic for the service industry, shopping & restaurant. Go Bills!
  12. Yes he has...mostly in comedic supportive roles like in Friday After Next (very funny btw), First Sunday and Norbert. But I agree that stuck out to me as well, LOL. I really liked K. Robinson coming out his draft year from Texas. I think he's a good addition to play at the SLB position, hopefully he is healthy and can replace Alexander as the starter. Alexander is better served as a ST ace & situational pass rusher.
  13. Why? I just want the best 5 OL for the new system starting & playing? Names doesn't matter...
  14. I have tried to resist discussing all the rants by poster as to the who, how, where & why's of what may happen come draft night. But this position here really get the hairs to rise, LOL! 1) I really think B. Mayfield and a fan favorite of so many here on this board (not mine) will be there at 12. Beane needs a partner to dance with and that's NOT a given. He seems to be a very methodical & analytical mind...he has put parameters in place to limit chasing after a prospect (and I agree with him). So the sell the house to get the "stud" QB is more hype than substance, IMO. If the expectation for the 2018 season is so low, how will you feel about having to include a 2019 top 5 pick to get one of these guy's this year? 2) Overall, this years group of QB's are not great , by ranking. Obviously we don't see the teams value board but according to NFL.com, there is only one QB ranked in the top 5 (of the big 4), the other prospects fan out into the teens overall. I understand that QB prospects are overvalued due to position but drafting for need regardless of overall ability leads to the Joey Harrington, Akili Smith & Heath Shuler's and many others being overdrafted due to need...the number of QB's in this years draft is intriguing but they all need development . I don't see an instant starter with this group, that's a hard nut to swallow when you ship that much capital for someone who needs to sit & learn for a year or two. 3) The projected $100+ Mil in cap space for 2019 would be great but rarely does free spending on high value FA ever pan out for a team...It is more prudent to use these funds to re-sign our own FA . Then fill out the roster with lower tier ,dust settle type FA for depth & special teams.
  15. He's paid to watch and report on upcoming draftable prospects. I find it hard to believe that their evaluation is based upon limited film review...especially the top tier guys. There are shortcomings with the top to bottom general scouting of players because they are not slotted by specific scheme fit per team. All these scouting bureaus use the same BLESTO rating as a guide for which players are on the NFL radar but they don't see how each team has narrowed it down to which players fit their scheme and other factors used to ID the guy they value & why. Guy's on ESPN & NFL network get more credibility from followers because they are on the airwaves and fall in love with a player to which they crank up the hype machine. But it doesn't affect the individual teams rating that they have created by using far more in depth analyst on a prospect. Serious question, how many games have you reviewed (all 22) of each prospects?
  16. I agree that the film isn't the only factor but its weight is more a factor in determining a prospects value. The combine results, are a tool to see if the prospects measurable's match the field performance. IMO, the interviews are even a better judge of the football IQ & commitment by a prospect followed by the medical results. The combine testing (i.e. 40 times etc) & scripted pro days are more of a team specific feel to see if a prospect fits the scheme.
  17. So does the combine & pro day performance outweigh the prospects seasonal evaluation and game film review ?
  18. I am alluding to this being his first draft as a GM...I understand that he has been through the process before as an assistant. There is a difference when the focus is on you. I agree that with the draft capital that he has, this draft will be pivotal.
  19. Two great examples of what Beane was alluding to when he spoke about valuing a prospect. Put a value on a player through film work, interviews & medical info reports. Don't reach for a prospect after the post season olympics begins unless their measurable's are supported by what is seen on the field. The Bill's fell in love with Maybin's "quick twitch" off the line, the problem was, most of his sacks came against lower talent opponents. When I watch his games against better OL (Iowa & USC) you didn't even notice him on the field, as a matter of fact these team decided to run right at him until Paterno decided to take him out of the game. They also loss the fact that his seasonal playing weight was listed at 230 LBs (actual weight was closer to 220 LBs) , way to small for a DE that had questionable coverage ability to play OLB. But during the post season olympics Maybin merculistly gained 25-30 lbs (weighed in 250LBs) at the combine. The same can be said for McCargo, he was an interior penetrator (at best) when drafted but IIRC, the coaching staff changed from an even front to the 3-4. Essentially dooming any chance of him succeeding. I like that Beane has put control measures to address chasing after a potential need and start reaching for a player NOT rated as highly on their board. Or getting caught up in the gamesmanship of the draft. Hopefully, he follows the process and doesn't lose his way in his inaugural draft!
  20. This is the whole gamesmanship with the draft and the valuations each team puts on a prospect. The top half teams in the draft play poker by milking those desperate for a QB. If the prospect is overvalued (due to need) and flames out, that sets an organization back in a sense. Case in point, Miami at 11 all of a sudden positions itself to look as tho they want one of the QB prospects. Now causing a team like BUF or ARI to overpay to get ahead of them... MIA laughs as we weaken are ability to fill other positional needs reaching for a risky propspect...BUF did this in the Tebow draft, Ralph Wilson spoke about how DEN winked & drafted Tebow in the 1st rd when he wasn't slotted that high on BUF board. Interestingly, Bills at 12 (if they stay put) looks to be in a good position for a Mayfield for those that value his skill set. Trust the process, Beane. FYI- TT was a pro-bowler 2 yrs ago, just saying.
  21. The point I take from this is don't sell the farm for a position of need if said position may not be NFL starter quality. I think we all agree about the importance of the QB position and finding the "franchise QB"...all things being equal, if these top tier 4 or 5 (whatever your value) are indeed can't miss. You spend the capital needed to get one. The problem is, one maybe two fit the profile. History tell us that the majority of them in this years draft will flame out...
  22. If we are gonna give these picks away I would rather try to get in the top of the draft for the blue chip QB- Darnold or Rosen.
  23. This is exactly why Beane commented on sticking to the valuation their staff have on a prospect and NOT some "draft guru". Following the media hype of a prospect will have them unemployed ...
