  1. A few years ago we had a stray cat hanging around our back porch. Very friendly and wanted a home and to belong somewhere. I started calling him Barkley after our BB QB2 at the time and current practice squad QB. It was right around the time of the Renegade Matt Barkley performance in Pittsburgh. Barkley is a way cooler name for a dog.
  2. It's not the block, which was excellent, but how he dipped his head at the end to make contact with the back of Taron's helmet. Intentionally went out of his way to make that contact, which is illegal whether they are on their feet or on the ground, I would think. It's much like hits on the QB that are legal but become a penalty when the defender tries to stuff the QB by landing on him with bull body weight which can separate a shoulder or crack ribs.
  3. Must be something that makes having a great sense of humor go well with being a journeyman QB. Case is right there with Fits with the self deprecating jokes. The "fan" at training camp wanting autographs, the Bills store employee trying to sell the Keenum jersey and now the "nothing but a jockstrap on at walkthrough." Great humor~superior intelligence~emotionally secure~lower ego = can play in the NFL for a long time.
  4. It is the culture of the game. The best ability is availability, right? Tua is giving everything he he has to prove he's worthy of a second contract and a franchise keeper. He has heard all the criticisms about his lack of physical tools and the stories of the owner trying to replace him. I think he is fighting an early end to his NFL career so he is not going to willingly succumb to any obstacle. The back injury loophole was his go to story to keep playing. He knows that he can't show any signs of weakness. These 3 concussions were not abnormal football plays. The hip fracture was not an abnormal play either. He is fighting the perception that he isn't physically suited to be an NFL QB. Often perception is reality.
  5. It was embarassing. Most of the rag arm throws from the upper deck landed short and on fans in lower deck. They hit camera operators, sideline viewers, security people and even Sal Capaccio. I was hoping that they would haul some of the guilty out after all the warnings.
  6. I took "big" in the sense of MVP narrative. If Minshew plays an effective game and the Eagles win comfortably over one of the toughest opponents on their schedule, one might assume that it might diminish the Hurts' MVP scenario. I am not sure I buy that reasoning but I could see some thinking that way.
  7. Mike Francesa. Looks like the OP from a merged thread stripped from it's title.
  8. I agree with you and do not like the red on red look, much like cartoon characters in red long johns. But with lake effect snow and 15-30 mph wind, it's less red on red and more red on white which does look much better, imo.
  9. I would hope the Bills/Lions do some sort of Giving of Thanks to RCW and his legacy before the game. Since SE Michigan and WNY are the primary beneficiaries of his foundation, it would be fitting. Also, it's in keeping with the spirit of the holiday.
  10. Started his throw, paused it and then pulled the trigger. Throw was late and somewhat under powered (compared to what Josh needed to have on it.) This allowed Peterson to undercut the route. A similar hitch was in the motion on the goal line throw to McKenzie that ended up skipping to him. If he needs to make a power throw, that hitch is a power sapper. If he's making a touch throw, that hitch/reload is not such a big deal. So, I say the decision was ok initially but the hitch in the motion (based on a LB flashing through the throwing window?) messed with the timing and made it a bad throw.
  11. Move to MNF and then the Thanksgiving Game moved to Black Friday, Saturday or regular Sunday. The NFL wants to get a game to that Friday for Amazon to stream starting in 2023 so it's not like they wouldn't want a trial.
  12. For more context for the younger members here: Rocketship_7 I was more of a Commander Tom kid. Mattie the Mod would be a good name for some.
  13. My first name is Jeff. Growing up my mom often called me Jesse. I had a favorite uncle who was a WWII vet that fought in Italy. He handled mules that carried ammunition packs to the frontlines. He died in 2009 with some shrapnel still in his body that surgeons decided not to remove. He was farmed out as a boy, spent time in the CCC during the Depression and spent most of his working career as carpenter. For some reason he took Jesse and started calling me Jessefeffer. I figured he earned the right to call me anything he wanted and every time that I see it, I think of him. Thanks OP for giving me a reason post about him!
  14. They should really be aggressive with that during the Bills bye week. Good weather, discounted prices and big MAC contest, they could boost attendance to rarely seen levels.
  15. I went to see them play Miami of Ohio a few weeks ago. I was surprised at the $32 ticket price given my past experience and taking my entire family would have been a no go. The stadium was only half filled in the lower level on the visitor's side and the upper decks and end zone were much less filled. On the other hand, the weather is supposed to be in the mid 60's and sunny which is near perfect.
  16. In recognition of the the good fortune we have that Josh Allen is the QB we get to watch for his entire career............... Ok. I think it's officially over. What's over? Deez Nuts over your head!!!
  17. He actually attempted a hurdle vs the Titans last year and was met in air by a defender who made a great play It was the play just before the 4th and 1 play where Jeffrey Simmons beat Dawkins and stuffed Josh on the sneak. Although that may have been more of an airborne dive.
  18. Direction of the shadows and high pitch says that Isaiah was looking into the direct sun.
  19. OK. I saw a Twitter video of Josh's folks leading a Karaoke version of "Sweet Caroline" at a pregame gathering. More confirmation that Joel can sing! Yes, moms and dads can be cool. Anyways the camera panned the crowd and I saw John Fina blending in to the scene. Thus, Taps on Main is/was the place yesterday and maybe today too depending on KC laws. Looks like a good time had by all.
  20. Looked him up. Lost his dad to COVID a year ago. Has Offers from Marshall, Virginia and Maryland as of February. Wants to study engineering and looks to aim higher with visits to ND, Penn State planned.
  21. It's a story within the context of how the game is played. Over it's history, Highmark/New Era/The Ralph/Rich Stadium must be one of the toughest places to kick/throw/catch the ball in the entire NFL. In the last game we saw 2 botched kick returns, a misplayed punt return, a blocked kick into the wind and two Chris Boswell missed FGs.
  22. Josh mentioned being hit in the chin. We (I?) never saw a camera angle from the other side of the play. So, that may be a difference. They will have to treat these calls like the NCAA treats targeting. They need the option to review them because they are often game changers.
  23. So much subjectivity to these things but throws that are made when one or more free pass rushers are bearing down on him deserve an extra bit of appreciation. Some QBs will turtle before the hit is made, some back pedal (it hurts less) but fail to put enough on the throw (ex. Lamar 8 days ago) or maybe the bravest will stand there and take the hit to make a play. Josh steps into the hit as he slides forward to deliver a good throw. Not many do that.
  24. Tom Brady Gets Call--Say It Isn't So Noteworthy to me is how important it was in the outcome, Jerome Bogar made the call and the technique used is perfect. In order to avoid the landing on the QB with full body weight, defenders are taught to "gator roll." Wrap the QB and roll so as to land to the side of the QB and not on top of him. This rolling maneuver does result in a spiraling to the ground effect as a natural result of the rotation. I guess Bogar wants the defender to rotate just enough so that the QB, or maybe just Brady, will land on top of the defender and thereby have a softer landing.
  25. Looked to me like AJ was hauled down by his facemask on an inside pass rush move. The OL proceeded to fall on top him. AJ was jawing with Hussey thereafter about the no call. The back and forth was such that AJ probably did not like the man putting his hands on him as he was leaving the scrum. You may be right about the ref getting after AJ with some intent to provoke a reaction.
