  1. It might have been the eye in the sky making the call. It's the best explanation as to why the call was made so late.
  2. Rules analyst Terry McCaulay was too eager to back the call on the field. The rulebook language you quoted is necessary to making the call. It was not close to being met. I wonder if the booth guy buzzed in because it happened so late. No need to think about intent which is where Collingsworth went.
  3. He seems to have a bias against head coaches with a pedigree from the defensive side of the ball.
  4. I remember an OT game where a Lions head coach won the toss and deferred. It was a solid decision in that for the entire game neither team had moved the ball in a particular direction which was in to strong wind. That'd be a situation that makes for a strong call, imo. It didn't work out and the HC got ripped for it. It seemed almost universally ripped, btw. I thought very strong call given the situation. I'd have to research the particulars.
  5. weird to decline the penalty. offense doesn't get another play. Some wagers riding on those yards maybe.
  6. A Bengals loss is a tangible, beneficial thing for the Bills. Anything else is psycho babble that only has any meaning in hindsight.
  7. Sitting at Brennan's, NO French Quarter at a poorly timed company dinner and not in section 228. I learned the Bills Backer Bar here is at Redeyes just 4 blocks from the hotel I am at and not at Fat Harrys on St Charles 30 minute trolley ride away. Maybe make it there for the 2nd half.
  8. I really wanted to see that 1 endzone shot.
  9. Sucks for Dawson. That's the problem with injuries. Try to play with one to help your team but then have trouble performing up to standard and see where that gets you. As an aside, my biased recommendation is to pluck Stephen Carlson off the Bears practice squad. Princeton smart, good hands, special teams experience with the Browns and used often as an extra blocker with them prior to his preseason knee injury in 2021. Bears have Kmet, Tonyan and Lewis ahead of him on their active roster. Plus, he is from Jamestown and I watched him play often would like to see him get a shot to revive his NFL career.
  10. Used to be illegal touching to hit OL in the back with the thrpw.
  11. There is a certain level cringe worthy fan reaction to how ex players are received when visiting with a new team. Every player need not be booed as some collective knee jerk reaction to them having left, whatever the circumstances were. In Tyrod's case, he was traded for a Brown's 3rd round pick. He gave it his all and represented the team well while here. I think his two best games as a Bill were ones in 2016 which were given away by Rex Ryan's lack of attention to detail. Seahawks and home Dolphins.
  12. I too have noticed that the term has morphed into failed off-script plays. The successful, off-script, "I've never seen that done before Josh" plays have become so routine that they defy a moniker. It's just what Josh does. The new reality is Josh checks down more and runs less. Completing two passes in a 3 play sequence and not getting a first down seems so outside of his football character. The offense needed to create more first downs and they were slow to realize how badly they needed them.
  13. I was wondering if our TEs could run a pattern more than 6 ft from the sidelines.
  14. I think they will do a good job. Eisen, Warner and Erdahl might have interesting things to say.
  15. I suspect, either poorly written or poorly researched. It should read something like: "After Von Miller's Thanksgiving Day injury last year the Bills pass rush ranked...........according to PFF but this year they rank them _________ after 4 games. But I could be wrong if what Einstein has reported is accurate.
  16. I think it merits special attention because Holland was stiff armed and pushed to the turf but was still in Knox's path so he got run over as well as Dawson got the 1st down. That's 1 guy getting double barreled shots of angry run. I doubt he wanted to watch that play in the video review session.
  17. In a similar situation, I would quickly tell him that I am proud of the team he has assembled. They are good people and players with results worthy of my fandom. I do not think this is true of many teams around the league. Maybe that's the biggest professional compliment I could give him. At the time, I agreed with Bill Polian when he said in his closing press conference about the Bills teams he built, "They're a very special group of men. Cherish them, you will not see their like again." Brandon Beane has made us wrong.
  18. The nerd's alias is Bruce Nolan and he named it QB Stew.
  19. This is some of the best of what we can do to support our players. Maybe we'll raise enough to make a difference, put a smile on Tre's face and give him more strength to face a grueling rehab for a tough injury, again. It's clear his teammates have much love and respect for him. They might appreciate these efforts we make as well.
  20. This is the natural result of the home blackout rule being lifted in 2015. Less demand for tickets in the local market makes for more availability on the resale markets. My daughter's travel softball team scheduled Sunday games in PA that match the first 3 Bills home games, uhg! I am glad there is a venue and demand to resell my extra pair of seats and make back almost half of what I paid for the entire season. For that playoff game vs. NE in 0 degree weather I sold them at a loss. If you are traveling to a game, the cost of the ticket is likely a small portion of the total cost to see the game live. The airlines and hotels know what's up.
  21. Not from me. They didn't lose that game on that play, imo. If you have two backup players in the right place to make a play and the guy from the other team wins, that's just football. Being unable to finish at the end of multiple 10+ play drives in unrelenting 120 degree heat was my go to reason for the loss. Guys getting multiple IVs, puking on the field, cramping up and an OL playing on an injured knee because there was no one else left to put in. I wonder how close we might have been to a Corey Stringer incident.
  22. Dropping a DL into coverage is my idea as well. Tall guys underneath in-breaking routes sounds like a tipped ball or two to me. Why rush 4 if there is rarely time to get there even if they beat the block early. Maybe 8 in coverage will make Tua hold the ball a little longer and give the 3 guys rushing time to win and get to him. Could rush 3 at the snap and then send an underneath defender on a delayed rush when an OL looks for work elsewhere. Wrecking the timing, making Tua hold it longer and then move from his spot seem like the goals to me.
  23. Goedert basically bear hugs Hurts and drags him forward, Assisting the runner used to be a penalty.
