  1. I too have noticed that the term has morphed into failed off-script plays. The successful, off-script, "I've never seen that done before Josh" plays have become so routine that they defy a moniker. It's just what Josh does. The new reality is Josh checks down more and runs less. Completing two passes in a 3 play sequence and not getting a first down seems so outside of his football character. The offense needed to create more first downs and they were slow to realize how badly they needed them.
  2. I was wondering if our TEs could run a pattern more than 6 ft from the sidelines.
  3. I think they will do a good job. Eisen, Warner and Erdahl might have interesting things to say.
  4. I suspect, either poorly written or poorly researched. It should read something like: "After Von Miller's Thanksgiving Day injury last year the Bills pass rush ranked...........according to PFF but this year they rank them _________ after 4 games. But I could be wrong if what Einstein has reported is accurate.
  5. I think it merits special attention because Holland was stiff armed and pushed to the turf but was still in Knox's path so he got run over as well as Dawson got the 1st down. That's 1 guy getting double barreled shots of angry run. I doubt he wanted to watch that play in the video review session.
  6. In a similar situation, I would quickly tell him that I am proud of the team he has assembled. They are good people and players with results worthy of my fandom. I do not think this is true of many teams around the league. Maybe that's the biggest professional compliment I could give him. At the time, I agreed with Bill Polian when he said in his closing press conference about the Bills teams he built, "They're a very special group of men. Cherish them, you will not see their like again." Brandon Beane has made us wrong.
  7. The nerd's alias is Bruce Nolan and he named it QB Stew.
  8. This is some of the best of what we can do to support our players. Maybe we'll raise enough to make a difference, put a smile on Tre's face and give him more strength to face a grueling rehab for a tough injury, again. It's clear his teammates have much love and respect for him. They might appreciate these efforts we make as well.
  9. This is the natural result of the home blackout rule being lifted in 2015. Less demand for tickets in the local market makes for more availability on the resale markets. My daughter's travel softball team scheduled Sunday games in PA that match the first 3 Bills home games, uhg! I am glad there is a venue and demand to resell my extra pair of seats and make back almost half of what I paid for the entire season. For that playoff game vs. NE in 0 degree weather I sold them at a loss. If you are traveling to a game, the cost of the ticket is likely a small portion of the total cost to see the game live. The airlines and hotels know what's up.
  10. Not from me. They didn't lose that game on that play, imo. If you have two backup players in the right place to make a play and the guy from the other team wins, that's just football. Being unable to finish at the end of multiple 10+ play drives in unrelenting 120 degree heat was my go to reason for the loss. Guys getting multiple IVs, puking on the field, cramping up and an OL playing on an injured knee because there was no one else left to put in. I wonder how close we might have been to a Corey Stringer incident.
  11. Dropping a DL into coverage is my idea as well. Tall guys underneath in-breaking routes sounds like a tipped ball or two to me. Why rush 4 if there is rarely time to get there even if they beat the block early. Maybe 8 in coverage will make Tua hold the ball a little longer and give the 3 guys rushing time to win and get to him. Could rush 3 at the snap and then send an underneath defender on a delayed rush when an OL looks for work elsewhere. Wrecking the timing, making Tua hold it longer and then move from his spot seem like the goals to me.
  12. Goedert basically bear hugs Hurts and drags him forward, Assisting the runner used to be a penalty.
  13. These are so over! What're over? Deez Nuts over the D's end zone!
  14. Defender spun receiver after ball had passed by them, imo. Good coverage.
  15. Whenever I listen to a recording of my voice I am forced to see how much differently I hear it when I speak with it. Just as there are faces made for radio, there are voices made for print media.
  16. Has the identity of the person who recorded the conversation been made public? Just want to know because I would like to know the name of the person that took that less than ethical action and has thus earned my disrespect. In general, I find the Bills professional media to be very chummy. They play golf, share Fantasy Football Leagues, attend each others weddings, appear on each others' podcasts, etc. This is not a very cut throat group in the way I would imagine the media to be in other markets. Most of these people are not breaking stories on the team or players that amount to much, whether they work for the team or not. I am ok with that.
  17. Interesting. What would you call that route that Gabe ran? I am not sure what it was. It just sort of bent to the sideline, allowed Whitehead to get an early jump maybe even got Gabe through the catchpoint too early. Normally we see more of a direct line to the DB and then a break and we might call it a "crisp" pattern. Maybe that's the way he is supposed to run it or maybe it was a lazy rounded break that gave the DB a chance to jump it. I don't think we'll know other than by looking for video of other times he's run that route because coaches and players don't share that information often. The fumble was odd too. The snap almost hit the man in motion and Josh was looking to the right. Did it come too early? I have not relooked at either play other than the broadcast replay on Monday so these were just my initial impressions. After a game like that, I tend to want to decompress and move on. I'd rather not play coroner and try to figure out how/why the victim died, so I could be wrong about both.
  18. OK. That's 5 season openers as the starter. Jets, Jets, Steelers, Rams, Jets. In those games, I counted 7 INTs, 8 fumbles and 6 of them lost. His career totals are 51, 46 and 19 for those categories over those 66 regular season games. So, season openers represent 7.6% of his starts and he has thrown 13.7% of his picks, made 17.4% of his fumbles and had 31.6% of his lost fumbles. Given his style of play, it seems like every year he has to recalibrate his time/space decision making and ball security. Training camp and preseason games do not seem to do the job to get him ready.
  19. One of my measures for an offense that is functioning well in a road game is how much of the play clock is left when they get lined up and ready to snap. If they are constantly doing so with near zero left, it's advantage D. The wrist band does save some time and gives the QB less chance to mess up the call.
  20. Chiefs might soon be in the "let them have a TD" to get the ball with time and down 8." Lions should go for 2 if that happens and try to go up 9.
