Game of Thrones - And Now Our Watch Has Ended!
May Day 10 replied to SlimShady'sSpaceForce's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Yeah. That was a good build-up If i had to add anything reasonable, it would have been the Bloody Mummers with Vargo Hoat, and more Rorge and Biter. This, along with more desolation of the riverlands, which was a huge theme. Especially at the hand of clegane. Gregor Clegane was skimped on a bit imo. -
Buffalo politician: Why wouldn’t you renovate New Era Field

I completely agree. IMO, its hell in regards to the Detroit Lions. Every single home game is miscellaneous. Day, night, weather, etc. It looks the same like it is being played before a live studio audience. With the outdoor teams, especially in the N/NE, the weather and time of game is part of the story. If any Bills home game of the past 12 years or so that I have been a STH come up in conversation, I think of the weather that day. The 'open' roofed designs that allow natural light, as well as architecture quirks to make these things more dynamic than Ford Field is an improvement. I would still rather have outdoor, and I think Pegula recently said as much -

Typically, those stadiums are built with materials not designed to go through the elements so to speak and also the field would typically lack the drainage infrastructure to 'weather' a precipitation event. It would also be an unpopular choice among players, patrons, etc. Also, leave it to humans to not look before hand, and show up in minimal clothing, get frostbite, and sue the team/nfl -
Game of Thrones - And Now Our Watch Has Ended!

yeah, I understand that... and think they did a great job of streamlining several characters and plot points into one character at times. Some of the culling from the books I completely agree with. I think they even hit a grand slam with the Battle of Hardhome, and although the fighting was a bit goofy, the attack at the fighting pits was cool in the show. They couldn't do a full adaptation without making each season 40 episodes, with many episodes that would likely be boring to many people. -

Im in Season 6 as well. Read the books a bunch. Was always planning on watching the show down the line due after all the books are read (loL). I figure the ending will be spoiled and I would like to watch it with everyone else. Nobody else knows the last 2 books and what happens. From what I see, season 5 was unpopular.... I thought seasons 3-5 were scorching almost every episode and probably the best TV I have witnessed (even with longing for much material from the books). I feel the past 2 episodes I watched 6-3 and 6-4 have been the most "unfulfilling" since a few fillers early-mid season 2. -

IMO, the delta of dollars required between a 25-year major renovation of New Era Field and a new stadium on the same "campus" isnt much. With a new stadium, they are going to have a clean slate as far as layout. With N.E.F., they are somewhat bound by the underground footprint and the general engineering restrictions. Major structural overhaul will cost almost as much as a new stadium. I see the downtown idea coming with so much additional cost due to the infrastructure. -

Reminds me of peterson with boise state football. He was there quite awhile before heading to washington. -
New Stadium Talk as of owner’s meetings
May Day 10 replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In the 100 level, there are many seats where you need to watch half the game on the jumbotron. The 300 level corners are also awful. You feel like you are in a different area code. And the bubble roof and giant blue wall suck any ambiance and sound out of the place. Also, cheap building materials like seats. Probably was necessary for it to get built though. Most of the other arenas built at that time are much better. Washington may be the closest in kind of crappy. Things like padded seats in the 300 level, steep grading (bell centre violated the code i think, and the acc needs railings in front of the 300 level seats). -
I say give it a shot with a real coach like Quenneville. Take his personal assessment on the personalities at face value and begin to make changes as necessary Housley's pedigree as a head coach was/is severely lacking. He is in way over his head and I don't want the Sabres to make any rash moves conforming around him. He just isnt worth it. The average shelf life of an NHL head coach is very brief compared to (at least) the NFL and MLB,... then you move on.

New Stadium Talk as of owner’s meetings

This is a big decision. The awful-ness of the hockey arena speaks volumes today as we are stuck with it (seat grade way too gradual and many seats are a mile away, bad sight lines... bubble roof is awful, etc). Make good sight lines. Seats close to the field. Weaponize crowd noise. Good fan experience for watching football. Dont need too much attention paid to peripherals. Some would be nice, but game experience is #1 through #100 in importance -
The sabres have been spectacularly bad throughout housley's tenure, and right now they are finishing with one of the worst stretches in franchise history (the worst quarter season stretch in my 40 years for sure). Not 1 player has seemed to progress or over-perform in these 2 seasons. Its so bad, the sabres will look foolish if they attempt to justify another season with him. They will also hemorrhage season ticket holders unless they luck out with another lottery win again. Inexperienced and clearly in way over his head. Nhl is also different than the nfl. Changing coaches doesnt mean a team overhaul whatsoever. These guys are plug and play Mcdermott on the other hand is competent and well put together. A great spokesperson for the team (beane too). He has gotten water out of a stone at times, especially with the defense, and playoffs aside, 9-7 was a miracle in 2017. Last year the team also came around and fought after a real bad start. He seems like he has discipline, yet many players seem to want to fight for him. A rare combo At a minimum, mcdermott has 2 more seasons

A stadium with a roof (not enclosed) a little inland/off the lake downtown would be much easier than fully open in orchard park. -

I used to park there primarily, but now, for some reason, as of about 2 years ago, my entry downtown on the Seneca Street exit is gummed up and backed up to the 190, so I have to get to the Louisiana St exit to head up Perry St and too much traffic to get back to Pilot Field without risking being late. -

Im not so worried about the tailgating downtown as much as the traffic. A Sabres game with 15-19K people locks up traffic to a miserable degree. People leave Sabres games (no matter the score) between the 2nd intermission and 2/3 through the third period to avoid getting stuck. Its awful. -

I would say this team performed right where they were supposed to.... which is pretty lofty, especially considering the number of 1st round wins in the last 50 years of WNY basketball history. They crushed a team from a power 5 conference, and also sat down the coach who spurned them. Outstanding season record, won on the road at Syracuse and West Virginia (although that one isnt quite as impressive any more). Won the MAC. Were ranked in the top 25 for nearly the entire season. Pretty awesome. They were hoping to get to Sweet 16. Fell short, but they ran into a buzz saw team, Ranked 9th in the country (i think), playing close to home. More importantly, the team percolated into the consciousness of WNY sports fans. They started to show strong attendance, even when students were between semesters. A couple more good seasons and we could see this really take hold/root.
