  1. Garmin Fenix 5.
  2. Playing ice hockey. I did continue to play baseball, but the sudden starts, stops, change in direction, not moving for awhile, sprinting, etc was resulting in too many injuries. I stopped playing a couple years ago, but miss it. Believe it or not, ice hockey is way more gentle on the joints and such than baseball.
  3. I think nfl refs are outstanding. NFLPA can never hold firm. Too many members, guys who 'need' the paycheck, and a very short earning window. They will break every time
  4. The Sopranos final 4 seasons were awful. First 2 were amazing. The shows and plot threads did not have cohesion and weren't always resolved, and never really satisfactorily. More of "here is more from those Italian characters you know and love to imitate" Like AJ Soprano. Spend a lot of time with that character in development over the episodes.... why? what kind of arc was that? He was worthless and never went anywhere, like the show. The only reason I kept watching is: 1: to find out how everything would wind back together and see the show become great again (never happened) 2: see how it all ended with Tony in what would be an iconic finale would he get arrested by the Feds? Family member murders him? One of his crew murders him? Rival gang? "Happily ever after?) (never happened)
  5. I havent watched too many shows through a duration. I liked Breaking Bad and Seinfeld. The very end of Cheers sticks with me too "we're closed" Oz and Lost were OK Hated Sopranos
  6. Since Donahoe, Bills purposely muddied the management structure so accountability of the media and fans was always scatter-shot. When things got too hot, they would simply sacrifice someone, much of the blame for the bad moves would go out with that individual, and everyone remaining would take a half step to the left with a slightly different job title or promotion. Decisions were absolutely made by Brandon, Littman, Overdorf, Ralph, Whaley, Rex, Jauron, Modrak, Guy, Pegulas, Pegulas' dog, and god knows who else. They suffered for years from not having a centralized power structure, and if it was centralized, it was on Russ Brandon for years. Whaley would have probably done his NFL career some good if he resigned. Maybe he knew that this job was his only shot he would ever get at GM? We really do not know what we had with Whaley, as the team had such a collaborative philosophy and information about who made what decisions were so overlapped and foggy. I do know his public persona on camera and behind a mic was pretty poor, and listening to him, he doesn't seem like a leader of an organization, nor a guy who is detail oriented to a fault. You listen to Beane, McDermott, Botterill, etc and a number of other executives and even modern day NFL coaches and they come off so well put together. Whaley and Tim Murray are basically scouts upjumped to General Managers, they sounded like scouts publicly, and I do not see either of them holding an NFL or NHL GM job again.
  7. I think if a QB with a workable skill set is smart and motivated enough, Belichick stands a chance to turn him into another Brady. Rosen has the smart.... and skill base.... but would he capitulate to Belichick's way, and also put in the dedication/work? Also, maintain it/stay focused after success
  8. think of a Sabres game and multiply everything by 3
  9. Yeah, I saw those. They were planning on more, but they have so much going on. Those guys are brilliant. I always want more.
  10. Mr Show with Bob and David Oz Futurama Beavis and Butthead That was the worst, and most poorly done adaptation of any Stephen King book.
  11. We got them, from the mid-eightees when I started in youth sports. We would all get little trophies with our team/season. It made me happy. The "championship" team would get a set of larger trophies. We never felt like we "won it all" because we got the small plastic trophies". In like 20-25 years of baseball, I never was on a team who won a league championship. We knew who won. We all wanted to win, despite knowing we would get the trophies. Mainly thinking of baseball and hockey. I think they stopped when we were like 14, which is fine. My kid is 5 right now and plays instructional hockey and baseball. They don't keep score, and they get a trophies after every season and my kid carries it around like the stanley cup and they sit on his dresser. He also is competitive as hell and is obsessed about winning, scores, etc. I don't think the 2 are related. I also think keeping score at the ages of 4-7 would be somewhat destructive.
  12. Yes. Nothing wrong with it. Its just a talking point for miserable people. I got them 35 years ago and they were great, and we would always look forward to them, and i never turned into some helpless adult who wants to climb back into the womb.
  13. The writing on the wall was clear early in the season. Many realistic fans expected 4-7 wins, but the ravens and chargers games made it crystal clear that this was a transitional throw away season at best, nfl record breaking futility at the worst.
  14. I think mcdermott improves the desirability of the team. I think he treats the players very fairly and with respect. Pegulas are good owners too. Wont try to nickel and dime players unless its directly cap related, and also had the players' back vs Trump when poop hit the fan There is still a stigma of losing, and players' inability to put up big numbers for future paydays. Also the whole culture of buffalo vs the top cities in the usa hurts, but can be overcome if the motor gets primed and the team becomes a place where players can flourish
  15. For me, its someone who "needs" to smoke before normal things like social events and gatherings.
  16. Brandon and Whaley were under a lot of pressure. Both with middling results, despite long tenures/involvement, as well as "proving" themselves to new ownership. The Watkins trade and the other trade ups, Clay signing, etc were a direct results of flailing around trying to save their hides. I hope that Beane and McDermott feel comfortable right now (I think they do). They need to continue to do everything the right way with the long-view on the mind. Now if the team stays in neutral or takes a step back in 2019, GM and HC need to be re-evaluated in the offseason.... but I really believe they are locked in until halfway through 2020 at a minimum.
  17. My childhood is rapidly evaporating
  18. College athletes are 18-22/23 year olds who are a captive audience. The top tier are playing for what amounts to potential lottery winnings. The coach has complete control of the situation and are basically teflon. NFL you have adult players with piles of money and guaranteed/bonus money. They are all, to a degree jaded about management and much more difficult to motivate. Also, they know that when push comes to shove, its easy to get a coach fired. NCAA coaches also have the ability to heavily stack the deck in their favor on a talent level, where in the NFL, you have things like the salary cap and the draft. Recruiting is also a very important NCAA skill set not entirely transferable to NFL success.
  19. They exceeded my expectations by a win, and allen is further along than i could have hoped. They are on track imo, but will need to take a step up next season.
  20. I was going to do that after watching the clips last night
