Just like deflategate. Kraft could have admitted some "guilt", paid a fine or maybe some community service, and this thing would have been dead and buried a month ago. And i dont really care, i think prostitution should be legal snd regulated... although i think its strange a billionaire would resort to this avenue. I guess maybe it is his jam and makes him happy. Whatever.

Ugh. Huge downgrade from a pretty classic set.

Let's have a way too early Win Projection
May Day 10 replied to foreboding's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would say 8 wins, but in a good way, and not the format of starting out 1-5 and padding the record by winning mid-and late season vs the Giants and Dolphins..... nor starting out 5-1 and setting the season on fire to finish with 1 win in the final 8 games or so. An even-keel 8-wins that shows progress with some young players, legitimately in the playoff race for awhile maybe.... and perhaps up-end the Patriots in a meaningful game 1 time. -
looking good in a game is not a validation for anything. Ottawa smoked the Leafs the other day, Detroit beat Pittsburgh last night. The league is designed to get most teams at or near .500. That is what makes losing 15 of 16 games such a feat. And, in this position, a coach crying to the media about how the refs "screwed" them is a really bad and petty look. They failed to win a game in regulation in March, and have won 6 games in regulation out of 43 since Christmas. The referees "screwing" the Sabres isn't what is happening.

IMO, a 2nd Pro Football league will only be viable if/when the NFL deems it as something they want. The NFL can get the viewers. They have the infrastructure, coffers, and brands people have tribal associations with that go back a century in some cases. In the current climate (with the NFL being such a behemoth), I don't think that any secondary pro league will ever be able to get enough traction to remain solvent (Arena League aside, but that is in its death throes). There is nothing compelling about watching C-level amateurs playing for teams that nobody has any attachment to during an offseason part of the cycle. I thought McMahon's "REAL FOOTBALL" idea was interesting, but those games were awful and you cant do that in this day of CTE and litigation, and finding players. Trying to put these teams in NFL size venues is silly. If the NFL decided that a developmental league is something they desire, they would create a league in locations of their choosing, and if it would have a nearly unlimited financial safety net to get through a few seasons before roots were took hold in the cities/towns chosen to host teams. They already have broadcasting partners and the means to produce games for a viewing audience. I think if a game had some connection with the Bills and there were some practice squad guys, or maybe that CFL receiver they brought in... or maybe a flyer QB they are trying to develop, I would watch some, and at the very least, follow progress and box scores.

I think he would. The player situation isnt bad at all with a controlled Eichel and Dahlen. Good cap situation ahead and an owner who is willing to provide resources. What it comes down to is management structure. How much control are they going to allow him? Will he have to talk to the owner 1-3 times a day? How does he feel about Botterill?

Housley was one of the most under-qualified coached I can remember getting a job in the NHL. He had zero games of professional head coaching experience, and hasnt even run the gauntlet of major juniors or a collegiate season. He coached high school and later a World Championship IIHF tournament. He was an assistant on a loaded Nashville team for 4 years. That is his experience.

Game of Thrones - And Now Our Watch Has Ended!
May Day 10 replied to SlimShady'sSpaceForce's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Yeah. That was a good build-up If i had to add anything reasonable, it would have been the Bloody Mummers with Vargo Hoat, and more Rorge and Biter. This, along with more desolation of the riverlands, which was a huge theme. Especially at the hand of clegane. Gregor Clegane was skimped on a bit imo. -
Buffalo politician: Why wouldn’t you renovate New Era Field
May Day 10 replied to wppete's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I completely agree. IMO, its hell in regards to the Detroit Lions. Every single home game is miscellaneous. Day, night, weather, etc. It looks the same like it is being played before a live studio audience. With the outdoor teams, especially in the N/NE, the weather and time of game is part of the story. If any Bills home game of the past 12 years or so that I have been a STH come up in conversation, I think of the weather that day. The 'open' roofed designs that allow natural light, as well as architecture quirks to make these things more dynamic than Ford Field is an improvement. I would still rather have outdoor, and I think Pegula recently said as much -

Typically, those stadiums are built with materials not designed to go through the elements so to speak and also the field would typically lack the drainage infrastructure to 'weather' a precipitation event. It would also be an unpopular choice among players, patrons, etc. Also, leave it to humans to not look before hand, and show up in minimal clothing, get frostbite, and sue the team/nfl -
Game of Thrones - And Now Our Watch Has Ended!
May Day 10 replied to SlimShady'sSpaceForce's topic in Off the Wall Archives
yeah, I understand that... and think they did a great job of streamlining several characters and plot points into one character at times. Some of the culling from the books I completely agree with. I think they even hit a grand slam with the Battle of Hardhome, and although the fighting was a bit goofy, the attack at the fighting pits was cool in the show. They couldn't do a full adaptation without making each season 40 episodes, with many episodes that would likely be boring to many people. -
Game of Thrones - And Now Our Watch Has Ended!

Im in Season 6 as well. Read the books a bunch. Was always planning on watching the show down the line due after all the books are read (loL). I figure the ending will be spoiled and I would like to watch it with everyone else. Nobody else knows the last 2 books and what happens. From what I see, season 5 was unpopular.... I thought seasons 3-5 were scorching almost every episode and probably the best TV I have witnessed (even with longing for much material from the books). I feel the past 2 episodes I watched 6-3 and 6-4 have been the most "unfulfilling" since a few fillers early-mid season 2. -

May Day 10 replied to wppete's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
IMO, the delta of dollars required between a 25-year major renovation of New Era Field and a new stadium on the same "campus" isnt much. With a new stadium, they are going to have a clean slate as far as layout. With N.E.F., they are somewhat bound by the underground footprint and the general engineering restrictions. Major structural overhaul will cost almost as much as a new stadium. I see the downtown idea coming with so much additional cost due to the infrastructure. -

New Stadium Talk as of owner’s meetings
May Day 10 replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In the 100 level, there are many seats where you need to watch half the game on the jumbotron. The 300 level corners are also awful. You feel like you are in a different area code. And the bubble roof and giant blue wall suck any ambiance and sound out of the place. Also, cheap building materials like seats. Probably was necessary for it to get built though. Most of the other arenas built at that time are much better. Washington may be the closest in kind of crappy. Things like padded seats in the 300 level, steep grading (bell centre violated the code i think, and the acc needs railings in front of the 300 level seats). -
I say give it a shot with a real coach like Quenneville. Take his personal assessment on the personalities at face value and begin to make changes as necessary Housley's pedigree as a head coach was/is severely lacking. He is in way over his head and I don't want the Sabres to make any rash moves conforming around him. He just isnt worth it. The average shelf life of an NHL head coach is very brief compared to (at least) the NFL and MLB,... then you move on.

New Stadium Talk as of owner’s meetings
May Day 10 replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is a big decision. The awful-ness of the hockey arena speaks volumes today as we are stuck with it (seat grade way too gradual and many seats are a mile away, bad sight lines... bubble roof is awful, etc). Make good sight lines. Seats close to the field. Weaponize crowd noise. Good fan experience for watching football. Dont need too much attention paid to peripherals. Some would be nice, but game experience is #1 through #100 in importance -
The sabres have been spectacularly bad throughout housley's tenure, and right now they are finishing with one of the worst stretches in franchise history (the worst quarter season stretch in my 40 years for sure). Not 1 player has seemed to progress or over-perform in these 2 seasons. Its so bad, the sabres will look foolish if they attempt to justify another season with him. They will also hemorrhage season ticket holders unless they luck out with another lottery win again. Inexperienced and clearly in way over his head. Nhl is also different than the nfl. Changing coaches doesnt mean a team overhaul whatsoever. These guys are plug and play Mcdermott on the other hand is competent and well put together. A great spokesperson for the team (beane too). He has gotten water out of a stone at times, especially with the defense, and playoffs aside, 9-7 was a miracle in 2017. Last year the team also came around and fought after a real bad start. He seems like he has discipline, yet many players seem to want to fight for him. A rare combo At a minimum, mcdermott has 2 more seasons
