  1. Medical advice, like legal advice, is worth exactly what you pay for it.
  2. I like it when the entire student section starts jingling keys. Start the bus! Start the bus!
  3. Division III national champions, that is. I've been to a lot of games myself but it's hard to get worked up about Cortland, Oswego, Elmira, Babson and the like. Playing all these ECAC teams should be a LOT of fun. It won't be pretty for awhile though. I shudder to think what the final score's going to be in the Cornell game at Lynah.
  4. Check it out. I'm getting me some season tickets! RPI, St. Lawrence, Clarkson, Cornell, Union and Q-Pac -- six ECAC schools on the schedule. Not bad!
  5. I think it speaks volumes about Buffalo that the quarterback of the football team CAN go out and have a good time among the locals without being (1) photographed, (2) pestered, or (3) provoked. I can think of a lot of cities in the NFL where it would be front-page news and cameras would be following the guy around.
  6. They'll find a secret memo somewhere. You know, from the same place the NHL found theirs in June of '99.
  7. Yeah, like by asking unscripted questions. For this president, that's overly disruptive.
  8. I must have slept through the ratification of the constitutional amendment that said everyone had to be obedient lapdogs in the presence of the president.
  9. There won't be a single one in attendance, probably. Anyone who thinks this event is "open to the public" is in for a rather rude surprise. Make sure you've got a copy of your loyalty oath before you go.
  10. I am going to watch the originals first and then the prequels on the advice of many who say that the first three are more poignant and revealing if you already know what is to come. Jack Garner of the D&C compared it to how effective the flashbacks were in Godfather Part II -- the story of young Vito is much more compelling when you've already seen Don Corleone. Also, Lucas had the entire story in his head and on paper (pretty much) by the time he started filming Episode IV, and you've got to think there was a reason he started in the middle.
  11. Bits and pieces of most of them on cable somewhere. Never seen any of them all the way through. Now that it's complete, I may just go on a binge soon and watch the original trilogy, then the first two, then go see Sith in the theater.
  12. Yeah, they must have realized God doesn't give a stojan about the Cowboys anymore.
  13. The irony is palpable, is it not?
  14. The July '90 show... I keep talking about that. Rico was good enough to send me the CDs of that show so I can relive it forever! And they DID play Truckin' at the '90 show!
  15. I went to the one with Sting, that was June '93. Spent the Sting set up near the stage and it was annoying because everybody thinks they can sing like him (it was like that SNL skit with him where people break out into "Roxanne" in the elevator). The highlight was that from where I was standing we could see Jerry sitting at a table off to the side of the curtain behind the stage with his long, flowing white hair and shades, smoking a cigarette (well, smoking something) and looking mystically out into the crowd like an apparition of God Himself. "Jerry's looking at me, man!" "No, man, he's looking at ME!" "No, dude. He's looking at ALLLL of us." "Whoaaaa." Crosby, Stills & Nash opened the one in July '90. Awesome. I still kick myself for missing the 4th of July show in '86 with Dylan and Tom Petty, though.
  16. Without the SB hardware and the tv gig, Lynn Swann doesn't even make the top 15 finalists, let alone get in!
  17. He also said "Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana." Oh. Wrong Marx.
  18. Yep. There's a reason we went out and got Sam a couple years after Ted left. Pat wasn't getting it done with whoever it was next to him in the interim.
  19. How could they have been playing Philly on July 4th when they were in Buffalo that day?
  20. Was that one of the October '89 shows? One of those was my very first Dead show. October 13 I think. When I Paint My Masterpiece, Dear Mr. Fantasy, the Hey Jude refrain... thinking about that show puts a smile on my face.
  21. I thought it ALWAYS rains during Looks Like Rain. It seems like it's a cosmic happening when you're there, of course, but why would they play that if it wasn't raining or didn't look like it was going to?
  22. Jerry wore a red shirt? Did he even own a red shirt? We used to discuss whether Jerry had a houseful of blue shirts or whether he wore the same one every night.
  23. I missed that RFK run but I did see the Who there that summer (for free, in the days before Congressional staffers and interns were prohibited from accepting gifts from lobbyists ). I think they played RFK only a few days apart. Last Friday I was in DC on bidness and saw the Cubs-Nats game at RFK. It was the first time I'd been there since seeing the Who. Place hasn't changed at ALL.
