  1. Chip Kelly does what Chip Kelly wants. Seriously, I am very happy with Shady. I remember an exchange that was caught on mic that sums up things nicely. Chip: "Hit the damn hole Shady!" Shady: "There was no damn hole!" Chip: "Shut up!" Shady: *goes and aquires a picture of the play* "Do you see the hole?" Chip: ...
  2. Good stuff. Mostly minor quibbles. 1) Due to CK's length, I really have him pegged as a tackle. It changes how you get leverage, but he might make the transition. 2) I honestly think good G is underrated so I have no problem using a 2nd. And the Cowboys are pretty happy with Zack Martin.
  3. I hope it works. I love his camp reports. But I agree that AJ Cann is an excellent fit for a power running system. Also Laken Tomlinson, who was ranked my NFL network as one of the 10 slam dunk safest prospects. If either is there at 50, I'd take them in a heartbeat.
  4. In response to the question in the thread title alone: "I begin scouting local bridges to jump off." Seriously. Please. Don't. When your comparisons start with "Well he doesn't have Andy Dalton talent level but..." you know you have gone horribly wrong somewhere.
  5. Yes, I've been able to surmise that by now. Thank you. I'm just commenting on what I've learned about myself that, rather than world weary skepticism, my first impulse was girlish squeals of delight. Like I said, I'm not proud.
  6. Hey, it's March and I'm desperate for some football. By May I'm the fan equivalent of a junkie who is combing his carpet for a dropped rock and, realizing that it is in fact a paint chip, decides to smoke it anyway. I'm not proud.
  7. Yolo answered it. You could entirely field a team of practice squad/3rd stringers and anyone who volunteers who thinks it will help their chances on the roster (Tuel, Taylor etc). Even so, I am 99% sure the Ralph would sell out.
  8. I hope not. Or, if it started that way I would hope that the Pegulas get a good response and say "let's make it happen" The unused Ralph is put to use, interest is drummed up on both sides of the border, football desperate fans get their fix and the team gets a tune up in Rex and Roman's systems. Name a down side.
  9. So...an exhibition game. Against a CFL team. In May. Ok, I was going to say something snarky, but I'm so football starved I'm going to eat that **** up.
  10. It's the same group that like Blake Bortles and Carr as developmental prospects, but who clearly know EJ is a bust.
  11. +100 Seriously. Even teams like Philadelphia are considered in the mix for Mariota. There are ways to get your guy when you really are just one piece away. The Bills, right now, are not.
  12. Since I live around Philly and my girlfriend is an Eagles fan I'm hoping to have them open on the road against the Eagles on a 1 pm game. I doubt it will happen though. With Chip Kelly's massive power grab/mad (genius?) architect scheming the Eagles are a recipe for Primetime. When was the last time we had prime time opening weekend? For home opener I want NE, week 2 @ 1.
  13. Buddy also went on record that they had gotten an offer to trade into the twenties for more picks but the didn't want to white knuckle it that much.
  14. I'm also a big fan of Quinn. And this was a pretty good rundown and explains why I'm hesitant about Grayson. His closest approximation seems to be Hoyer or Kolb. Maybe we'd take one as a veteran to hopefully help mentor a rookie, but I'm not drafting one to start. I've said it before and I'll say it again: The only difference between any QB after Winston and Mariota in this draft and EJ is that EJ is a project QB with two years in the league and 14 starts under his belt.
  15. Getting back to Cockrell... It looks like he got the redshirt treatment that Duke and Meeks got. I remember hearing when he was drafted that if he put on some muscle he would be a good fit as a ball hawking FS. With Seacry getting overpaid, and AW being versatile enough to be SS or FS, I'm curious if Cockrell might settle into Byrd's old role.
  16. All the better then. The man turned in some incredible play in the system while riding an incredible defense and strong run game. When your worst season in 4 years is 8-8, in a division with the NFC Champion Seahawks and the 10-6 Cardinals, that's a pretty strong track record of success.
  17. True. I would hate it if he doesn't man out, but unlike Johnny football, he isn't squandering his talent. Poor man's Kaepernick would still be at least average out of 32 starting QBs.
  18. Yes actually. That's how Pettine used him, and Rex tends to prefer using heavier guys (like Alan Branch) as a "heavy 5 technique" player in his base. That said, Rex tends to be pretty aggressive about using the nickel and dime subpackages. There's a reason Hughes was on the field as much as he did with Pettine. But do I think Hughes is going to rotate in? Absolutely.
  19. I'll say for the record that I think he had a rough break. I honestly think that if pure talent was the only issue, he'd probably be at least depth on someone's team. But his role here would be what Hughes already does: come in on a rotation for nickel and dime packages. The difference being that Sam would do it less well.
  20. I went with Roman, and here is my reasoning: I'm loving the energy Rex is bringing but I think we could have still could have cooked up a helluva defense with Schwartz and our defensive FA moves would have likely been identical. Roman, however, seems like the best available architect on the market to make sub-average QB talent work with stifling defense and strong run game and all the FA pickups I love (Shady, Harvin, Felton, Clay) flow from his philosophy.
  21. @MikeRodak: Bills hope to not need to pay Marcel Dareus Suh money. Would also have preferred Norwood to kick a bit more left.
  22. I don't know if anyone here would be opposed to Toronto having a team now that Buffalo is secure. Can you imagine the rivalry?
  23. It's somewhat reassuring to hear that Reuben thinks they were miscoached. I do think that you can get at least one solid player on the right side of the line in the draft and I have to believe that among 3 draft picks, one has starting potential in year 2.
