  1. Hmm, I might take that back then. Hopefully you free up a little more by locking up Glenn and Gilmore long term, but at this point we just have room for the rookies.
  2. You know, depending on how the contract is structured I'm pretty sure we might have enough left to get a day 2 or 3 free agent like we did with Graham and Lawson.
  3. Nice! It is on the upper end of what I was hoping to pay, but it's not unreasonable.
  4. I think they will get him back if they want. Temper your expectations though. People often have rough years coming back from ACL damage
  5. His salary really wasn't that much. The problem was that the Saints gave him a big signing bonus, and his Pro rated hit waa double his salary.
  6. Honestly? Maxwell was a bad contract. Horrific even. And all the complaints that Kiko wasn't going to fit in Schwartz's scheme again apply, and the Eagles already have a replacement in Jordan Hicks. If they swap firsts and get Miami's 2nd they would be in very good shape.
  7. I disagree that Maxwell is horrible. He's an ok number 2 CB in a zone system. Chip made a horrible free agent signing. Howie Rosman may have just fixed it. And also getting rid if Grimes?
  8. ...I don't get it. Grimes is a far better CB. They have no depth behind Grimes. For as much as we ride Whaley, this is far worse.
  9. Ok, then they definitely can afford it. TBH it's not a not deal for the Phins. It would give them a rather nice 1-2 tandem with Grimes and here in Philly they really want their 2nd round draft pick back.
  10. I've seen multiple corroborating reports on this. If the RI talks have stalled, I'd take him, especially since his last two years he was on before with the Saints had him at an average of 4.5 mill a year, which is right around what Id want to spend.
  11. They did massively overpay him. They also tried to pry him into a man to man system when he's a cover corner. As a 1st CB he's not great, but as a second with Grimes??? But how would they afford him? The Dolphins already are over the cap, right?
  12. Let's be honest, he's somewhere in between. Fitz got consistently better in increments the years between when he left us and started with the Jets. And he did put up numbers in that system that are eyepopping. Better than Sam Bradford, and Bradford got $18M/year with ~20 guaranteed. You put Fitz on the Broncos, they are Super Bowl contenders again. But yeah, this year he was in an ideal situation: an OC who knew how to maximize his talents, trading for a star receiver, a sub par run game and a top 5 defense playing a soft schedule.
  13. I'd love that. I'm just worrying that he'll go for more than that a year, and we'd struggle to fit him into the cap this year.
  14. I'll repeat what I said a few posts up: It's not a great WR group in FA, and out of the ones we can afford, it's likely Harvin, Roddy White or Boldin. There's grooming a WR in house, which would mean Woods, Goodwin, Dez Lewis or Boykin taking a major step forward. It might happen, but I wouldn't bet on it. The WR draft class early reports are that it's shallow, and overall one of the slowest in recent memory, so we better use a high draft pick in a year that we need to fill at least one slot each at LB, DL and possibly OG. To me, the safest bet is Harvin on a vet minimum base with incentives and drafting a mid round guy to groom to replace him is the safest bet. If people can think of a better reasonable plan, please share with me. I am seriously all ears.
  15. That's fine, I'm just asking: where else is there to look?
  16. Could be, and to be honest, I would like to have him. But the Giants aren't hurting for cap space, and they may be letting Randle walk. And his health situation has been even worse than Harvin's the last two years. And even then, there's no assurance he'd want to come here.
  17. A) I called it. B) The Jets are in a bad salary cap position at the moment, arguably worse than ours. After tagging Wilkerson they have $7 mill in cap space, and they have 3 defensive starters, their entire running back group and Fitz all as UFA. With the Bradford and Cousins contracts out there, I don't see Fitz getting signed to anything with less than a $10 million cap hit this year. So maybe they can work some magic and sign him with some cuts or restructures, but they will be losing a lot of people. C) the FA market looks bad. At this point, RGIII possibly getting cut is their best hope. Suck it Jets!
  18. I do not get the dislike for Harvin. Look, if you want to say that you would prefer a receiver who is less injury prone, I get it. And yes, Harvin is a risk in that area. But we need a #2 who can stretch the field. Let's talk free agents we can afford: Anquan Boldin, Roddy White and PerCy Harvin. Boldin and White are well past their high speed days. So unless someone thinks that we can make something out of Goodwin or Dez Lewis, our options are Harvin, or someone in the first three rounds of the draft.
  19. I think the problem might be that they can't file the official paperwork until Monday morning when the league office is open.
  20. He also tends to undervalue quality writing and journalism standards but hey, what are you going to do.
  21. Ehh. I've heard good things about this defensive draft, and we've seen Leo really slow down last year and Darby has taken over the #2 corner role. Bye Leo.
  22. Does anyone know the numbers yet? I figured that we'd likely save between 1-2 M.
  23. I don't see this. Their starting QB, entire backfield and two or three of their defensive starters are free agents. They just lost a starting CB in Cro. Their QB situation could be dire. Fitz put up Bradford numbers last year. Average quarterbacking got Cousins and Bradford 18 and 20 million a year. Even with the Eagles shifting most of the hit to next year, Bradford is still going to hit at 12 million. The Jets have 7 before rookies. Unless they want to try their luck again at the free agent marketplace, and the likes of Hoyer their options are to try drafting a QB at 20, or going back to Geno. So yeah, an overrated team, who we beat twice BTW, is likely to lose a good chunk of their veterans, have a tougher schedule and you think they're going to be bettet?
