  1. It's true. Anytime I start feeling even the slightest bit warm and fuzzy about the Bills, I think about that signing and I'm brought right back down to earth.
  2. I can only speak for myself, and I know if another team had signed him for this exact contract, I would be cursing the front office. Just imagine it was the Pats that did this. We'd be homicidal right now. Count me as one of those giddy about seeing what Merriman can do next year. Perhaps it won't amount to much, but like many others have stated, it's worth the risk.
  3. lol yup...it's a shame he didn't put up big numbers dude, you should do a quick wikipedia check before you post silly statements like that
  4. Maybe it's just being used to seeing so much crap on the field that fans can't tell anymore when they have a star, but I don't get how anyone who watches football can say Kyle Williams isn't a shoo-in for the pro bowl. It's actually quite remarkable how well he's played. All the big running plays the opposition gets seem to occur when he's taking a breather on the sideline. I noticed that on three separate occasions on Sunday. He is consistently double-teamed and still makes plays. He was actually triple-teamed on multiple plays against Miami the week before. Can't remember the last time I saw that. The guy really has no help whatsoever.
  5. F-E-E-T FEET! FEET! FEET! FEET!
  6. I get that hunch about Wes Welker. Whenever I see him, I'm reminded of that episode of fresh prince of bel air where Carlton mistakenly takes speed (or whatever it's called now) and dances like a maniac. As for the best defensive player, I'd have to go with Dont....err...I mean Haloti Ngata.
  7. at least someone in this thread has some knowledge of the game if evans isn't the biggest waste of talent in the league, then he's really close i would argue the point that the bills don't have a qb...i like fitz, the only problem is that the o-line is absolutely dreadful, and those of you thinking that they are much improved need to look at how fast fitz has to get rid of the ball, not how many times he has been sacked...he has been making them look good by those quick 3 step drops, and those short routes are more suited for a taller receiver in single coverage, neither of which lee falls into also, i don't understand how someone can praise steve johnson and criticize lee evans for not wanting to get hit in the same sentence...johnson has gone out of bounds numerous times this year instead of fighting for extra yardage...am i the only one who has noticed this? to be fair though, i have a hard time questioning anyone's toughness if they play in the nfl...i don't think you can survive there without being tough and ballsy (unless you're a kicker maybe)
  8. That's just a copout. How major league is Pittsburgh and Indianapolis? By your rationale, Dallas couldn't possibly have gone over a decade without winning a playoff game. The easy answer as to why NE is consistently at the top is simple: Bill Belichick. Sure, good ownership is important, but only to the point of not interfering or being overly stingy. It's not Brady, even though he is a top QB. I think the Matt Cassel experiment proved it. No, they didn't make the playoffs, but they won 11 games with an average-at-best QB (and no, it wasn't because of their defense). Belichick handles the coaching and personnel duties on the team. Even when Pioli et al were with them, I remember reading that Belichick was the guy behind everything. This might sound outrageous, but I'd trade our whole roster for Belichick, give him whatever money he wanted, and let him build the roster from scratch. I'd be willing to bet that by year 3 we'd be better off than we are now.
  9. In case anyone doesn't know by now, in addition to their own 1st rounder, the Pats also have Oakland's first and Carolina's second (which is almost a first).
  10. He's actually talented but he has got to be the stupidest player to ever put on an NFL uniform.
  11. 1. Nobody's whining. Really. 2. Having an unbiased opinion is different than having a biased one. 3. Stupidly excited is a fun place to be...too bad you stopped halfway.
  12. Everytime someone reads his column, he has a triple-fat latte. That's the way Peter 'Burger' King rolls. And by rolls, I mean the ones hiding his Brett Favre belly ring. This guy is the most biased reporter out there. Having said that, Kyle Williams is awesome, but knowledgeable NFL fans knew that a long time ago.
  13. Admittedly I'm a biased Lee Evans fan, but did anyone notice the prolonged block he threw so Jackson could score that long touchdown? Granted he's had a few off games the last little while, but you've got to be delusional to think he's not far and away the best WR on this team.
  14. as with any of these trade scenarios, it all depends on what you can get...if you could get joe thomas or jake long for spiller, of course you would do it (at least i would) but the problem is, you'd never get anywhere close to that...for one, trades don't work that way anymore, and two, running backs are far too interchangeable (another reason why it was dumb to draft yet another RB at 9th) and therefore have less trade value than other positions
  15. what the hell was that?!?! was he drunk??
  16. It still amazes me that he's not automatically considered the best Bill ever. I really don't even think there is a debate. Played in a 3-4 with subpar nose tackles. Was consistently double and triple teamed, yet is the all-time leader in sacks. Kelly, Thomas, Reed, OJ, etc..all had excellent careers, but none of them would be considered even in the top 10 at their positions except maybe OJ. Yet there is case to be made that Bruce is the greatest defensive player of all-time...definitely the greatest DE.
  17. i'm going to new york for the weekend and wanted to know the best place to watch the game also, i'm going to the sunday nighter (giants at philly)...if anyone has any knowledge, can you let me know the best way to go about getting tickets for the game? i don't want to have to pay an arm and a leg on stubhub
  18. whoa whoa whoa! easy there, grasshopper...the fitz is alright, and thigpen's not bad either...i'll give you kordell stewart though
  19. hahaha..nice i think it's about time he's referred to as maybelline maybe it's natural...maybin it's maybelline geez, why the hell do i remember that?
  20. not that i claim to be a tough guy, but if you break your hand punching someone in the face, you don't know how to punch properly, or at least had bad form in that one instance huh? i'm not in anyone's corner...just an observation of the humourous irony of the situation...not saying kelly was or wasn't out of line
  21. so let me get this straight, Kelly calls him soft, guy gets angry, guy punches Kelly in the head defending his toughness, guy breaks his own hand scoring here at home, i'd say game, set, match Kelly...this fool would have been better off not doing anything
  22. Hahahaha Four touchdowns in one game to "so a fat lady comes into the store today..."
  23. http://www.buffalosportsdaily.com/one-on-one-with-eric-moulds/ Some nice comments about the fans, and more proof that the Flutie benching was not Wade's decision. All in all, a really good piece.
  24. How about you look at this way: Of the 9 you listed, do you think it's just a coincidence that at least 7 of them are going to the playoffs? Maybe all 9 by the end of it. There's only 12 playoff spots available, so that's a pretty good ratio. I wasn't one of those "you have to get a QB at all costs" kind of fan before, but if you think about it logically, in this day and age with so much player turnover and free agency, having a franchise QB lets you get away with lesser skilled players at some other positions and handling roster changes while still fielding a competitive team.
  25. Don't forget JP Losman! There's always an exception to the rule, I suppose.
