  1. I think Abraham can still play 15-20 snaps a game. Pass rush specialist. Is it what i would do? No, unless he came at a very reasonable price. He is pretty durable, and has not been injury prone through out his career. He would instantly make the pass rush very legit. He may buy you a year of developing a 2nd or 3rd round pick. Thus, allowing you to use your first couple picks in other need based areas. OSI is going to get paid big bucks for his name and he is still in the grey area of being over the hill. Abraham is over the hill, but has some left in the tank.
  2. Well written post. One thing is for certain, the Bills need to sign some PROVEN wr talent. If they can bring Stevie back, there is still a huge need for another competent Wr. Here is hoping they sign a guy to play w Stevie. I could see the Bills making a play for a Meachum. Your draft looks very good as far a need base address...not certain the players are the best choices
  3. If you want an elite pass rusher on the downward side of his career why not make a play for John Abraham? He wont cost you any picks and you could probably sign him to a 2-3 year deal at a cheaper price then Osi. Abraham is 34. But had same amount of sack last year as Osi at 9.5. Atlanta has two many guys up for FA and looks like he will surely hit the market. He could step in immediatley and upgrade the pass rush. Bills could then go for rush end in rounds 2-3 and spend first pick on another area of need. LB, OL, or WR depending on which way they go w the rest of FA.
  4. I actually work with a player from the 70's/80's. Jeff Yeates, he was a DE for the Bills then the Falcons. Jeff still works today because he has to. Now he likes what he does and it keeps him young, working with all us 20 and 30 y/o's. But he has had multiple knee surgeries, and is what you see in a typical player from that era. There body is no where near what it could or should be if they had not played in the NFL. These are the guys many of our dads watched growing up. These are the guys that built the game into what it is. If the passion for the game had not been bred into our fathers, we would not have been in those stadiums in the 80's and 90's when that CBA happened in 93. Guess my point is the league can take better care of the Alumi's and if the current players had the heart and mind to realize it, then guys like my friend would be in a much better situation then they are today.
  5. Exactly. If the Bills leave Buffalo, there goes a good percentage of people that come to Buffalo. How about doing a quick study on flights into Buffalo during football season? Check the toll roads and see how much the tolls increase around football games from out of state? Check with hotels and restaurants and see how sales increase during football season? Compare that data to times of the year when football is not played. I mean this should not be that hard to do. If the bills leave Buffalo it is the final nail in the coffin. In 25 years that town will be down to about 200,000 people. Sorry guys but Buffalo needs the Bills, it is really the only reason why so many of us come back there. Niagra Falls is great, but people just do not care about it like they did 30 years ago. To the poster who said sports teams are a drain on the community, i have seen other studies debunk that theory. But oh well, like many in Buffalo when the Bills are gone, they wont be happy, just like they are not happy they are there now.
  6. After talking to my buddy and askin ghim about Upshaw, he told me he would be a great run stuffer. The way he described him was like a Kelsay with talent. I asked him, do you think he can pass rush? it is not his specialty. Can he cover? yes but not well. This friend is a huge SEC guy and watches everygame and breaks down film even...i know we been telling him to get a life for years. My point is i like Upshaw, but wonder how he will fit in with the guys we already have? I would rather the Bills 'reach' and grab the best olb if he is not off the board.
  7. All i meant by that is there are over 1500 guys playing in the NFL. Everyone has a contract, and every offseason their are scores of WR's looking for a contract. I get each situation is a little different. What throws everything out of wack are the bone head franchises who over pay talent because they think its the final piece, and we all know how that usually ends up. Ask Eagle fans.
  8. Why would you not then pay him maybe around 13 or 14th best money? And have incentive clauses that could take into the top ten money realm? I mean it has to be a science more then just pulling numbers out of the air??
  9. I think you are right on that point. I think teams are also going to look at how the Giants are not afraid to basically use 4 DE on obvious passing downs. The rules now are such that you need quick Dline man, holding is hardly ever called...you need guys that have pass rushing skills that will not allow them to be engaged w oline man.
  10. Holy sh*t i pissed my pants...almost! That is great.
  11. A. Free agency is before the draft B. Maybe naive, but some of us think the F.O realizes that this next season is kind of a turning point. Need a couple proven starters to maybe make the Bills legit playoff contenders. We shall see, but in the mean time it is fun to think about how much better your team would be with certain players added. And since the bills are something i follow for fun, i do not need to be a realest about it.
  12. Very good analysis and break down. It is posts like this that i come to this site mainly. Thank you. I also think you did a good job in identifying guys that will not be first day 'big' signings. But guys that will be very solid producers and for the most part i have not heard of any character questions with these guys. Am i wrong? Also no mention of SJ? you think he leaves town?
  13. I agree that the Bills need to draft or sign in FA a big time DE. But for now our division goes thru NE, and has so for the last 12 years, save a blip here and there by NY and MIA. The book is out on how to beat Brady, rush from the middle of the D. The switch back to the 4-3 puts William and Dareus in the best spots for them to succeed. They will also eat up the entire interior 3 Olineman. If the Bills can get it right and pick up a pass rushing DE and Kelsay can play solid(i think he is) then the front 4 will look very good. They will also open up holes for blitzing LB to shoot thru.
  14. If Williams is healthy and Dareus improves on his stellar rookie season, then the middle of the line will be great. These two guys also will be able to get in QB's faces from up the gut. That is big...and the number one way to beat the best QB in our division. Now add the pass rusher from the edge, and suddenly the entire D looks a lot better. If you can stop the run and get to the qb, you got a winning D. Corners are important... but no where near as important as Dline.
  15. exactly, just ask the Giants!!!!
  16. Who do you think is not going to be back? I mean besides some 3rd stringer? They have no key guys up for FA except Welker, i believe. having said that....who cares. Just imagine if picture phones and todays technology was around in the early 90's during the Bills run...maybe we wouldn't be so surprised they lost 4 straight?
  17. I remember when Sheppard came out and was drafte dby the Bills it was because at the senior bowl he showed just how well he can play side line to side line. The Bills coaches were there the entire week. They saw enough to take him in the third and felt lik eit was a steal. No whe was not Pat Willis his first season, but given a year to adjust to the NFL speed, he could prove a strong MLB
  18. Solid kicker. Nothing glitzy about it, but rather have a proven guy back there then some undrafted FA. or someone whose team did not think enough of him to re-sign him.
  19. Brown as always seemed like a mouth piece for The Bills Orginization. So i think he is hearing this directly from Nix...now maybe Nix is playing all of us, and saying we tried, but like Clabo he wanted to much and used us as a bargaining chip.
  20. I watched many of the UGA games with my friend who is an avid UGA fan(wears the red pants still and he is 35). My buddy said Glenn can play ever position on the line and is an animal. He is smart and nasty. I just dont think the Bills will take him unless they let Bell walk and use that money to sign a FA pass rusher and resign Stevie. Your thoughts?
  21. I think any team with th emoney will be going after him. The Giants being in the SB again proves you can not have enough quality pass rushers on your team. Watch for the Falcons also to make a run at him. Abraham is getting old and they need someone to replace him.
  22. WR is like many positions on the field...who is playing along side you helps your play, If the Bills can find another quality WR and re-sign Stevie, then both players will benefit. Stevie has had some notorious drops, but i think it is part of the maturing process. Stevie has seemed very immature at times...funny, but immature. Lets hope the Bills can bring him back for a reasonable figure and sign another quality WR...then we will really see what we have in Stevie.
  23. Nice refrence to Mannelly...great guy. Worked out with him going into playing college football. All that said this topic is hillarious...great way to start the day.
  24. Why not? I mean if he can play both positions at a high level. It seems to me more teams are going to be running various fronts. The rules of the game now dictate that Defenses have got to out scheme Offenses, You have got to have flexible players that can play different positions. Heck who would have thought you would have DL covering a TE or RB. It happens a lot in zone blitzes. This type of D was not around 20 years ago. Players are now so much faster for their size...it takes findinig a guy who can handle learning and reacting.
  25. The $2500 price is on Stubhub...which is a reseller. Face Value for tickets start at $1k. Now i know that is not cheap....but a season ticket holder would spring for that, right?
