I think you only do that for a sure thing on offense. Shannahan and Mcvay would really be the only ones worth it imo. Too big of a gamble for a first time head coach. Way more to HC than play calling. Idk how willing Pegula would be in making a move of that nature. The systemic change in culture, the draft capital and money required would be too rich imo. Though another year not making it to the final Sunday I would be open to drastic moves. Is Mcdermott Dungy or Ried or is he Marty Shottenhimer?

Maxwell Hairston named in civil lawsuit for sexual assault
TheBrownBear replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is where I stand. It makes no sense to file a civil suit against him as a student when he has zero resources to lose. She attempted to get some type of justice through the criminal system, which failed at the time and this is her last chance. Also, she did report the encounter as a sexual assault hours after it occurred. It's not as if she's making it up now out of thin air. The truth is that the only people who know for certain what occurred are the young woman and Hairston, and even then, two people can have very different perspectives on the reality of a given event. -

And there will be plenty of receipts if the Bills win a superbowl with McDermott, too.

Brandon Beane "might be the most sensitive GM in the entire NFL"?
Mat68 replied to BADOLBILZ's topic in The Stadium Wall
I wouldn’t bet my career with Whaley. Yes, Mahomes is great. Using the capital gained from that trade was used to get Allen. That is a wash. Mahomes wasnt setting records with Charles Clay, Andre Holmes, Kelvin Benjamin, Zay Jones and Robert Foster. Its a butterfly affect that will never play out, but Mahomes doesnt come to Buffalo with Reid, Kelce and Hill. -

I don't mean to turn this into a "gotcha," you just said a few posts ago that this was an offseason filled with bad moves from Beane. This thing w/ Hairston looks like not much to me, especially since it was well known & vetted before the draft. But even if that's deemed a "bad move" - what else was there? -

I think McDermott's actually a good coach. I don't think he's a disaster. I think he'd be a great hire for a team like Carolina if he did ever get fired. I just don't think he's a difference-maker. And at this point, I am just saving receipts in case the unthinkable happens and we win a Super Bowl immediately with a new HC in 2026. I have spent enough time in this thread that I should be able to find it immediately. -

I disagree. This case does not need a trial. It was from 4 years ago. The police, school and NFL teams all looked into it. -
Your takes just get worse and worse. We get it. You are a McDermott hater. Now let it rest.

I liked the draft a lot also outside of them taking this risk with Hairston. It was unnecessary. Hopefully this didn’t really happen and he is ok. sanders and Jackson look great and I like what we know of strong and Hancock. i can’t wait to see hawes. the concerns are what becomes of this with Hairston and when and how much will walker be able ton play and help this year. i don’t like any of the free agents on defense and would not have signed a single one of them outside of white. -
Keep going! Post this in every thread. You really are sad.

I told you I wasn't going to make you see the light. You have accepted McDermott in your heart and there's nothing anyone can say to change it. -

I guess opinions just vary - I think this is the best offseason they've had in terms of improving the D. I loved the draft picks and the FA acquisitions. We'll have to see how it plays out, but I think we could have a top 3-5 defense this season. -

Is it my computer, or does that video look, and sound, like it was made in the 70s? Or perhaps they're trying to replicate when Rich Stadium was first built. -
This is a worthless exercise. I think I’ll go pick up dog poop in the back yard, instead. At least something good comes of that.

Actually nope. I have loved what they have done on offense over the last 3 offseasons and am one of the few fans here who is not obsessed over wide receivers and understands the importance of the o line personnel and running game as a whole. go search my posts, I have loved all the offensive signings and draft picks. I feel the total opposite on the defense this offseason. Don’t say I said things I have never said. Simply search old posts, you will see I have been consistent in my opinions and thoughts on the roster construction here. -

@Doc Brown , are you not aware of Rule 17.5.b-33?: "If thy team were the Patriots circa 1999 - 2016, or the Chiefs circa 2017 - Present, thou mayest draft players with pasts more sordid than the foulest excrement of The Dark Lord, Himself, and mayest thou do so with impunity, as the blood of the NFL shield hath washed away your sins. However, if thou art from Upstate New York, or art a good human, or art honest and of an unbesmirched nature, thou shalt NOT draft a player with any shred of iniquity--present, past, or future--or thou shalt be violently and permanently castrated by mercenaries in zebra costumes, be made the laughing stock of the league, and be cast out into the night where there shall be much weeping and gnashing of teeth! Thus sayeth The Goddell, in mine mercy!" -

What do you mean? These are my takes. QBs matter way more than coaches. We have maybe the best QB in football, thus we are are a very good team. If we fired McD and replaced him with an average coach, I think its very likely nothing gets worse from where we are now, a team that is very good, in large part because we have a great QB. Sometimes, coaching changes can elevate a very good team into a Super Bowl team. These are all very congruent takes if you stop to think for a second. I don't know if you are aware, but divisions titles are based on overall wins....of the teams in the division. Ergo, you can win 8 games and win the division as long as the rest of the division wins no more than 7. Seeing as the Jets have a .290 winning percentage since 2020, the Pats have a .390 winning percentage and the Dolphins have a .559, no I'm really not shocked that averaging double digit wins with an elite QB (like I said, bare minimum coaching expectation) when the second best team in your division can barely manage .500 over that span is enough to win the division. FWIW, I wasn't super impressed when Brady and BB lorded over their division for 20 years or when Mahomes and co. do it now. In a league where there's barely 12-15 QBs worth a damn, and even 8-10 of those are a tier below those top 3 or 4 guys, when you have those top 3 or 4 guys, you are expected to win your division. Half the teams in your division will statistically not even have a franchise QB, and if you have an elite QB, the odds of another one being in your division is very small. -

Actually I just watched the press conference and Beane said he is a football coach and I am a GM and we can’t have all the facts of what happened and it’s a legal issue. He seemingly said the opposite of what the truth ended up being.
