Game week thread - Bengals at Bills (flexed to 1pm ET)
reddogblitz replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
I expect the Bengals to do what Miami did. Load up the box with 8 or 9 and dare us to beat them with the pass. They'll also cheat guys in to stop the passes behind the LOS. It's gonna take some good strategery to beat this but it's doable. Hopefully some good scramble drill plays and quick hitting passes to guys schemed open somehow. More passes to Cooks. I like the idea of keeping Turf Toe Joe off the field, but if we go this route we have to score TDs. Can't have drives stalling out or settling for too many FGs. If Coach McDermott and his defense can slow down Burrow, Higgins and Chase they deserve something really great. Should be an interesting/tough game. Hoping for a Bills win. -
Ja'Marcus Ingram claimed by Houston
transplantbillsfan replied to transplantbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Forgive me. I don't know if anyone else in this forum is like me at this point and comes here as much (maybe more) for Bills news than discussion... but the fact that the other thread hasn't changed the title to acknowledge Slay ain't coming and we will now have an open roster spot that will not be filled by a player we've had on the team developing for years now because he was claimed by a Conference rival playoff contender is a little frustrating. if I'm alone, sue me. -

The map’s record against shitlibs is eerily similar to Tom Brady’s career record against the Bills. -
Ja'Marcus Ingram claimed by Houston

Why has Ingram been on the roster then? I reject this premise. -
That’s pure blather. Why would you ever “pack up your family” to go live in Buffalo at this point? There’s a couple of months left in the season. Go find a nice hotel or live with one of the guys. Maybe try to win a Super Bowl. That reason was fake. Not sure what’s up, but he didn’t want to come play.

@LeviF -
I'm just going by what I read on TBD. And let's not also lose sight of the fact that he couldn't even get on the field for that horrible defense that was Pittsburgh last Sunday.

Arrived at with 3 composite scores (PFF/ESPN/SIS); best is top right corner, worst bottom left corner. https://x.com/fball_insights/status/1996378570596536685/photo/1

Darius Slay claimed on waivers by Buffalo
Buffalo Ballin replied to TD716's topic in The Stadium Wall
One more thing: Didn't realize that Darius Slay is 34 years old. He's ancient. -
Personally, I'm a fan.....heck, I even listen to it during "Christmas in July". I like to listen to it while I'm putting up the tree or opening presents, but I am happy to listen any time during the Christmas season. I know this is not the popular opinion with a lot if people.......so do you like listening to Christmas music or not?? If not, why not??

Thank you finally someone gets how bad our actual GM is. Pretend GMs for the win 🥳
-
If the Bills beat CIN, I think they go 4-1 down the stretch. Resting players against the Jets. They’ll beat NE and Philly. Since we likely aren’t getting a bye, or home game, I don’t care about seeding. Getting to a point where we can rest guys for a game, maybe even two, is the most important goal they should have.
-
This whole situation is a big nothing burger. But let's beat this to death with a bunch of pretend GMs who are obviously far better than the one calling the actual shots.
-
Isn’t that our FOs MO. Get guys that used to play with us years ago and stick them into meaningful roles when it matters most.
-
All this for an old (by football standards) and slowing down CB? He had a change of heart. I am sure he was not counting on the Bills making a claim. Go and retire. Ingram was a nice PS guy but nothing to get upset about.

Darius Slay claimed on waivers by Buffalo
Buffalo Ballin replied to TD716's topic in The Stadium Wall
Slay is not officially a Buffalo Bills player. And never will be. He's not reporting. He doesn't want to be here. Beane didn't do anything wrong in this situation. -
Completely rational way of looking at this. I like Ingram more than most and think he’ll actually be good with Houston but here’s hoping Benford, Hairston and White stay healthy because we don’t want Lewis forced to play outside. Things will get real ugly.

This changes everything. Browns readying Deshaun Watson's return.
Kelly to Allen replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
For me, I always saw baker as a legitimate franchise QB. He almost won rookie of the year. He then had a sophomore slump. In year 3 he was excellent. He then got hurt and the browns completely lost their mind. Baker always reminded me of Kelly honestly. he was who I really wanted in the draft back in 2018 Darnold is a good QB but I don't think he's as good as Baker -
From a purely business standpoint, you’re correct. I think there’s a bit of a honor code in the NFL when it comes to these situations. Maybe Beane violated it, maybe Slay violated it. Maybe both. My honest opinion.. this is way more on Slay throwing a temper tantrum. I’d just rather not be the team involved in that.
-
My honest take on this is that you shouldn't be relying on washed up vets to force themselves onto your team, and washed up vets shouldn't act like they can skirt the rules. We claimed him, he decided he didn't want to play anymore, so be it. We tried to upgrade the backup to the backup and it didn't work out. I really don't get all the drama over it. Ja'Marcus Ingram and Dane Jackson are the same player as far as I'm concerned. I don't want to see either of them getting real snaps for this team. I wish Slay had worked out but it has zero real impact on our season. And no I wouldn't release him just to let him go to Philly where he might start against us in two weeks. He made his choice and that's that. Slay's contract made it easy, we would have been on the hook for only $300K. Every veteran is different. Brandin Cooks for example would have cost I think at least a couple million this year and the team that claimed him would have absorbed his salary and cap hit for 2026 too. Adam Thielen was just claimed by Pittsburgh. Would that have been his first choice? Probably not but that's the rule.

What's YOUR Honest Playoff Bracket?
Richard Noggin replied to Richard Noggin's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don't see a McD team with a healthy Josh Allen and James Cook going 2-3 to close out the season, but as you've noted, their inconsistency does not slam the door on that possibility. And the matchups against Cinci, New England, and Philly are all potentially dicey. We've been worse off at this point in previous years ('21 and '23) and still closed out the regular seasons strong (a McD team trait), one time fielding (in '21) the best consecutive passing offense performances in playoff history, I think? That 2021 team was offensive shite at this point in the season, and then lost again but at least woke up in the 2nd half of that 6th and final loss to Tampa. So there is precedent for the Bills and Allen to lock in from here out. In 2025, however, unrelenting, impactful injuries, and critical coaching and execution errors could be mitigating factors that finally disrupt the Bills' history of late season excellence. -
Darius Slay claimed on waivers by Buffalo
Mark Long Beach replied to TD716's topic in The Stadium Wall
I agree with you here. I just look at as a win either way. If he comes, he's better than Ingram. If he doesn't, we keep him from a soon to be opponent where he would definitely improve a weakness in Philly.
