  2. Interesting that despite all the love for Knox, Kincaid and Hawes after the Jets win, no one is touting Reggie Gilliam, who for the first time in a long time has multiple snaps as an inline tight end from 13 personnel. They ran the same formation like 5 plays in a row and just slammed the Jets up the gut. There was no doubt they saw their path and stuck with it. I’m very curious to see how these personnel groupings will continue to develop. I think it again speaks to why the lack of investing $$$ into a true #1 WR makes sense for this team; they literally cannot guarantee he’d be on the field. My favorite play may have been the Elijah Moore TD. After all the inside zone to cook, Brady uses the same action to give the Jet sweet the other way. That was good stuff. Side rant on Moore aside, we just won’t know from week to week what we’re going to get. These guys want to run the ball, and if they find a personnel grouping that seems to be working, they are going to stick with it. I imagine Hawes will end up somewhere around the 30% snap share at the end of the year.
  3. The bolded is really intriguing to me at this point, and primarily because McDaniel's players (especially defensively) do NOT respect him. And while each player knows they are being evaluated by every team on every snap, they also don't always rise to the occasion if the coach on the hot seat is a doofus. Of course it's possible that Miami comes out swinging for the fences and lands a few, but if the Bills can score points early and often, then I'm pretty sure Dolphins players won't be extra motivated to save their coach's job in a losing effort. Plus the OLB coach got arrested Friday night for DB, so that could feed into the anarchy and lack of professional culture. Could be dudes on that team who resent being associated with space cadets and dirt bags, and want to see real change NOW.
  4. Still like the shout song more TBH
  5. My unpopular opinion is that QBs make themselves. The coaching doesn't matter nearly as much to that outcome as people think. I'm not saying coaching doesn't affect how well the offense as a whole functions, just that great QBs will be great no matter what coach they get tethered to and ditto for bad QBs. Daboll was dubbed a QB whisperer because Allen became elite under his watch. Turns out he's closer to the guy that had 30th ranked offenses for the vast majority of his pre-Allen career. Nobody should have expected Ben Johnson to show up and "fix" Caleb Williams. I'm sure some Bears fans are disappointed but that's only because they had an unrealistic expectation. I continue to believe they will move on from Caleb Williams next year unless he shows massive improvement over the course of the season. Johnson isn't going to risk his first head coaching shot on an underperforming QB that he isn't tied to. He'll get his handpicked QB next year and then we'll begin to really see if he can live up to the hype.
  6. My childhood was made up of days like this
  7. I recall seeing Walker lined up at 3T at least one time. But felt like more. I saw him out there with Jones (at least once, but probably more...not sure where to check snaps by alignment). Deone Walker is ideally a 3T on early downs and a 1T on passing downs, in general. He's no double-team buster against the run at this point of his career.
  8. Bernard has the propensity to get lost in the play. He’s ocassionally trying to scrape over or back door a blocker rather than work through it. He just doesn’t have the size or ability to catch the block and disengage without giving up a ton of ground. Too often he either gets washed or locked up, and I think it can be partially because he’s too pigeon holed onto the ball carrier and by the time he’s recognizing a blocker he doesn’t have the skill set to beat them with power or hand technique. It’s what leads to the splash plays, ankle tackles, and the makes him have what appears to be a nose for the ball. That said I still think he a a good MlB, especially for what they want in regards to being able to move, get into space, etc. P.S. there was one Jets play where 8 gets absolutely walloped by a TE and the LOS. Just rag dolls him and I think this encapsulates where he can be taken advantage of. Hey it’s the NFL everyone has that happen to them
