This version of Rodgers can be dangerous. When he gets the ball out of his hand quickly -

I saw it the same way. Good news is they're getting better. More replay reviews, quick ones. They're calling interference pretty fairly. What is a catch is pretty clear now. It's improving year to year.

Stadium looks half empty. Their own fans don't even believe. I will say this though, Rodgers still has plenty of arm -

Agreed. And that’s why they don’t have much of a chance of beating New England in New England on January 4. -

Bo Nix and the Bronco's Defense - the Toughest Out for the Bills?
dreadlox replied to jethro_tull's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think Denver would be really difficult. Their D is excellent and Nix and the offense do have some big play ability. Their DBs would own our WRs and Allen would have to ball out. Also a road game. I agree though Houston is a scary matchup for the Bills. They get so much pressure and can take away the scramble drills Josh thrives on. The Ravens always scare me but the Bills seem to force Lamar into mistakes even if Henry embarrasses them. -

Was only 11 men on the field at the snap by my count. Was the defender not on the sideline when the ball was snapped? -
One promising thing with Hairston has been that physically he has the athleticism to recover. One negative that we’ve seen repeatedly is that he struggles at the point of the catch to track and make a play of the ball. The recovery speed is nice, but he’ll need to work on finishing the play. We say this a handful of times this year (Waddle, Higgins, was it #9 this week?) I’ve also been slightly surprised at his willingness to tackle. He’s had his fair share of struggles but I think he’s going to be a good starter for years to come Was one of those the 30 yarder that should have been an incompletion? Without that it’s 3 for 21. I thought he was fine.

So I agree replay assist is mind numbingly inconsistent with its usage. They seem to use it more in games that they know the nation is watching which is a problem. Either the NFL wants to get the calls right or they don't. At least with penalties there is some kind of written standard even if they aren't always applied the same. With replay review there is no standard, it is just arbitrarily used whenever the officials feel like it. However I will say the clear difference in this case is that Cooks' drop was clear and obvious after one replay. No long protracted discussion needed, it was a simple mistake from the official and an easy correction. Boutte's catch was not clear at all. I said in the game thread and I'll stand by it now that it was a perfectly 50/50 call. If you want to say the ball moved too much along the ground to count as a completed catch, I can see that. If you want to say he clearly had both hands firmly gripping the ball before it hit the ground, I can see that too. So that one was never going to be overturned by replay assist. As far as a potential challenge, I believe the call on the field would have stood because it was not "clear and obvious" that the call was wrong, which is the necessary standard to overturn it. Having watched the replay back a dozen times I think I lean towards it not being a catch by the official rules... but it's a tight one. Even though the ball hits the ground you could make a case that the ground doesn't "complete the catch" for the WR which is the official rule. Too much nebulous interpretation of what happened for the officials to overturn that call IMO.

That sack by Ramsay was cartoonish. Hardly looked like a play you would see in a normal NFL game. -
That’s worse than a high school basketball clock homer. The refs said nothing and just put 2 seconds on the clock. Between that and the two replay assists were used or not used against the Bills. Meanwhile their embarrassing coach is whining today about the refs media. This guy is the media darling since half are ex Pats homers.. lost respect for him.

Chris Carter is a clown. "We keep adding one plus one equals two. But sometimes, in the NFL, it doesn’t. Sometimes, one plus one equals zero.” Even Scott Steiner was better in math.
