Thats the key, don't let him get started

Allen is becoming Elite Pre-Snap(if he wasn't already)
HappyDays replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
It's hard to tell because sometimes the Ravens defense makes their own check in response to our audible: It's not so much that Allen gets "fooled," it's that he's making the audible according to what the defense is showing pre-snap and sometimes the opposing DC just has a great play call that goes against pre-snap expectations. That's what great DCs are supposed to do. Would be nice if we could see some of that from our own side. I still would like these screens and quick swing passes to be less common even as the check, especially on 3rd down. Because then you're basically leaving all of the success of the play up to the defensive play call vs giving your best player a chance to create with the ball in his hands. When we let Allen create later in the game good things happened. -
Ed Oliver is as good as I've seen him today
PoundingDog replied to PoundingDog's topic in The Stadium Wall
I felt wrong to say something bad about Oliver today but looking back of his career, compared to guys like Jones, or guys in his draft class like Simmons, you probably would say we want those guys. Like someone posted in this thread, consistency is an issue. Looking at the team we are chasing, the Chiefs, how many time they are getting the kind of play Oliver gave the Bills last night in big spots during their current run of going to the superbowl? Without those plays, the Chiefs might just have one superbowl (when they still had Hill). They can be teetering on bad in defense at games but guys like Jones rose up to make a play or enabled someone else to make a play at a crucial moment. Last night, we have an actual taste of what it is like to have someone -- Oliver -- in this case to make THE play for us. I said a guy in our defense MADE a play, not like last year's Ravens playoff game where the opponent made mistakes on their own. I'm hoping we get that kind of performance in big games this year, especially the playoffs, from someone, not necessarily always Oliver but someone! -
If I was going to make any change right now I’d consider Lewis for Rapp
-
Rapp is slower than Poyer ....at least last night
-
Their O line dominated the first 3 quarters.
-
It was a vanilla game plan for an opening night game. I thought I would puke if they threw another bubble screen. The left side of the o-line had problems last night. Hopefully it gets better.
-
I am rooting for your thoughts...

And how did Coleman look yesterday? Sometimes young players need time. Who is the stud you refer to?
-
All I see is TB get blown up and Henry is off to the races no stopping that.

Gawd… Maddy Glab… unlistenable… even in great moments! bring on Jenna C.

That was on of those "This F'ing Guy..." moments -
Kind of like the problem last year finding a WR....oh wait, nevermind.
-
This is what WGR said earlier, but it is apparently wrong
-
I heard you were off at rehab 🤣 Welcome back to the mess!
-
I don't remember you and for the final time, No, I won't go on a date. Jeez.
-
Sure. Let’s just order up a stud. I hear they’re on Amazon Prime. I think Jackson has shown that his tendency is to falter in big games.

The safeties need to communicate a lot on the field to make sure everyone knows where to be. What their assignment is and that of the other DBs. I think the dual threat QB and Henry was giving them fits. Then just when you think you have to crash down to stop the run, Lamar would pass. Tough assignment for them. They have a lot of tape to watch. I'm sure they are all ready thinking of ways to improve. I think a little time to work things out is warranted...

How much better is the Ravens team on paper than the Bills?
Lost replied to Lost's topic in The Stadium Wall
Just imagine if we had managed to land Hamilton or even McDufffie instead of Elam in 2022. That probably woulda been all the difference we needed to get over that hump. Both our biggest competitors landed all pros with their 1st pick in that draft and we got a complete bust. -
So I imagine the line is somewhere between "tried and convicted" and "executed." Clever to put all 3 in the same sentence! That'll work.

Why not think bigger though, get a stud. Then let one of our current starters be the backup (or rotate in). IMO, GM Beane need to assume this could be the year. Odds to win it all (via increased odds of number 1 seed) just increased. Work on the weak link in a big way.
