If he gets cut I’ll understand but he’s been awesome since he got here unlike the other 3 I’d cut. How you’re actually helping on gameday matters to me and he’s good. Not as easily replaceable imo but if they want to risk it that’s on them. I think with injuries already adding up along the league and people seeing the tape he’d get picked up. But hopefully he wouldn’t

Haha. I already mentioned it somewhere yesterday, and I think that it is fair to mention that missed tackle. As you say it was in backfield and it ended up as 16y Gordon run. Nothing wrong with mentioning it, esp. when comparing him to Dorian. Other than that I thought he was really good.

Franklin was actually a free agent who didn't get picked up less than 3 weeks ago. He had a great game on teams against the Jets. But I don't believe that one performance would be enough to make him a guranteed pick up if he got cut. I'm still pretty confident you could smuggle him through to the PS.
-
Beane isn’t dumb he won’t release someone he doesn’t think he can store on the PS. Regardless of what any fan thinks, Epenesa and Solomon would get picked up quickly by another team. Beanes not going to care about the numbers on the active roster if he can elevate players from the PS and he is probably working the phones already for potential trade partners to see who wants one of our D lineman. If it doesn’t work though, Hamlin, Ingram and Codrington have the best shot of making it through waivers and onto our PS. Franklin would get picked up too with how fantastic he’s been on ST and his history of being this good and unlike Codrington he can actually play his position outside of ST which is valuable with McBeane. I like ingrams development and hope he’s not cut but if they believe Strong is ready and Hairston is healthy it could happen but solid corners are hard to find and they get hurt a lot during the season so I wouldn’t risk it. Like I said before Samuel (who cares) and Hamlin (easy PS stash) would be my first 2 cuts and then if you can’t trade a D lineman for real value or someone isn’t injured before the decision needs to be made than sorry Codrington but one of our RBs or Shakir is returning kicks.

Are we not allowed to talk about players and how they played? Relax…..

There was a definite hold on one of the third down conversions before half. A pretty huge hold on AJE not called. Kurt Warner has an interesting take on the the one read stuff. He says McDaniel's offense puts so much emphasis on scheming open #1 (and generally does a good job of it) that it sort of deprioritises #2 and #3 so if #1 isn't there it isn't as easy for the QB to recognise whether 2 or 3 will be open. It's an interesting point because I have made a similar observation about Shanahan before. It is why he doesn't want freelancers, because his offense isn't set up for them. It works perfectly if you just paint by numbers.

Like @GunnerBill, despite my initial thought that DQ was a potential trade/release candidate to account for the numbers, he was great Thursday. All be in I am only through the first half of the tape, but he was our most consistent disruptor. Hes also playing a lot of 3T right now, which will likely change when Oliver gets back. Despite playing “out of position” he still saw a lot of double teams. This is a fascinating discussion that I thought a lot about in pre season. The closer we’ll get, the more we will know. I just don’t see any way they’ll add a DL without releasing one. Epinessa, Hamlin, Codrington, Ingram all make a ton of sense to me

I agree the DB decision comes down to Franklin or Ingram. They are not cutting Damar. But at least one of the cuts has to be Dline. They currently have 5 DEs and 4 DTs. They are not going to make that 6 DEs and 5 DTs. 6 and 4 I can see. 5 and 5 I can see. But they are not going with eleven spots on the defensive line. Other than the idea that they cut Ogonjobi without him ever making the roster who else is at risk? They aren't cutting Jackson even though he is a perennial inactive. I think the chances of them cutting Daquan are pretty remote given his play especially this past week, and Oliver, Groot, Bosa and the two rookie DTs are safe as houses. So you get to Solomon or Epenesa pretty quickly and while AJE has played some teams snaps this year Solomon has been a core STer. Cam isn't playing safety though. That is his point. Cam has a very specific role in our dime package.

Cam Lewis is getting legit PT on defense over Hamlin. He also plays teams. #3 was the defender who lost contain on the opening kickoff against the phins. I don’t see either guy being cut at this point but I am not so sure it’d be guarenteed to be cam getting cut over Damar.

The way the stairs have been designed. Near the front of the 400s there are stairs and railings in the way or close to the way. The reps seem to downplay it, however, I am picturing how this will look in practice. People going up and down those stairs, pausing, being generally inconsiderate will get old immediately. Its the one design flaw I have seen.

Hamlin and Codrington aren't going anywhere. If anyone was being moved to make room for Hancock to see the field, it would be Cam Lewis before Damar Hamlin. But I don't think he's going anywhere either. But regardless of what you and other fans think about Hamlin - McDermott values him too much. Outside of Rapp and Bishop, he's the only Safety to be active and gotten snaps at Safety. And Codrington is our entire Return game. They aren't going to risk putting someone important back there and it's too important of a job this year to go with just anybody. The odds that we get through Week 6 without a single player to put on IR is pretty slim. At least one player is going to get dinged up, if not more. And then it will come down to who's 52 and/or 53 between Sam Franklin and Ja'Marcus Ingram. Off chance if our DE's are all healthy they can move AJE or if all our WR's stay healthy we can move Samuel - otherwise i'd expect them to be here.
