Not local currently but grew up in Pittsford and my mom and still lives there and several relatives live in Rochester burbs. I can literally walk to Pittsford-Mendon HS to catch the bus to training camp. It's a nice event and a chance to visit her/them. And yeah, never had a problem going to camp until the last 2 years. Which is understandable as I believe STH's should get first dibs.

Who is on the Mt. Rushmore of Bills Special Teams
BillsPride12 replied to BillsPride12's topic in The Stadium Wall
It's funny when I was putting my list together I was thinking of that play too but I was thinking about it from the perspective of it was Mark Pike who busted the wedge open allowing Christie to recover the onside kick. But regardless of that Christie is definitely worthy of being on the list as well -

This list, plus Terrence McGee imo. What a joy it was watching him return kicks, he was also a great cb -

Yeah on my original list I was pretty much split between McGee and Christie as my final pick. If you open it up to 5 spots it becomes a pretty easy discussion. I will say I wasn't sure if there was anybody else I was forgetting or players before my time I wasn't aware of so that's why I started the discussion. -

Training camp schedule & ticket info released!
BillsPride12 replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm not sure numbers wise but I see what you are saying. I know training camp was never the issue/mess that it is now before things took off and the Bills became perennial contenders. I remember going to training camp in 2019 and it wasn't the hassle that it is now. Not sure if you are local in WNY right now but it reminds me of Artpark in Lewiston. They used to do this free concert series every Tuesday night no tickets or anything required. You could just show up and hang out, it was great! Then one Summer they started bringing in bigger bands like ZZ Top and Lynyrd Skynyrd and it just became a madhouse and more people were attending than the facility was built to accommodate. Total s***show. The following year they started requiring you to buy tickets to this concert series. -
Brown goes to a creative writing workshop for a week, to come up with pithy phrases to use during broadcasts. 😁

It you can't get excited about watching the team that's going to win the Super Bowl, you can't get excited about much of anything. -

Training camp schedule & ticket info released!

this would have been around 2014, I think. Marrone era. I think the Steelers now have a free ticket system, but you can get them easily. I could get 6 right now. I loved going to camp last year in Rochester. But I literally had to win the lottery for something that should be easy and free. -

you laugh t yourself?😃 -
They take a bit of time off every year around this time.

What I was getting at is that it seemed like they let in more people prior to the lottery system, but I could be wrong. Meaning they could offer more than 1,000 tickets.

Who is on the Mt. Rushmore of Bills Special Teams
Cash replied to BillsPride12's topic in The Stadium Wall
Maybe controversial, but I’m not sure I’d include Pike. He was great for sure, but I’mnot sure he was great enough to make it as a wedge buster. Steve Tasker is not up for debate, so I won’t bother debating him. Agree on Brian Moorman - he was legitimately the team’s best player for a few years. And while that’s a damning condemnation of the offensive and defensive talent at the time, Moorman was nevertheless special as a punter. He’s a lock for me. I think you could make a strong case for Steve Christie, but I’m not sure I’d make it. He’s in the same category as Pike for me - worthy, but maybe not one of the 4 most worthy. I think there’s got to be at least 1 return man for me. McKelvin could’ve had a shot if he wasn’t such a bonehead. Roscoe Parrish is fairly up there. I think I’m forgetting someone else, but it probably doesn’t matter, because my pick is Terrance McGee. He was my guy! And his 98-yard non-TD as the half expired remains the single best on-field metaphor for the Bills. Okay, no other names are jumping out at me, so I guess it’s between Pike and Christie for me (until Bass hits a game winner in the Super Bowl). And… my guy says Steve Christie, welcome to my personal Bills Special Teams Mount Rushmore! Now to find a mountain and get started. -

I'm not sure. But I'm sure behind the scenes they have the logistics of it all figured out. There's no way they could leave it open without having a cap on attendants with the popularity of the team right now. And yeah it totally sucks that some people get screwed by not being able to get tickets to it, but what other way can you distribute tickets besides having some type of lottery? I stand by my original point that is is impossible to accommodate everybody that wants to attend training camp with a ticket. Keep in mind the tickets are free so there is a whole other pool of people trying to go that might not attend games because of the financials and how much smaller the seating area is at Fisher v.s. Highmark stadium and think about how many Bills fans are out there. It's easy to say they can make it where everybody has a chance to get tickets if they want to do but impossible to execute. Yeah that would be ideal but camp was commercialized a long time ago, even before Allen showed up -

The most American thing there is just so happens to be the belief in personal responsibility. Can't wait for their consequences. You expected these idiots to link that on their own? I'm not completely convinced they aren't bots. There is no way they can be this dumb. Unless it's Mike Schopp and Jeremy White moonlighting.
