Training Camp News - Around the League version
Brand J replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
They’ve won twice. The other was the pass Charles Clay dropped while diving on the goal line. -
Play hardball with any player that has unrealistic contract demands. And let’s talk about those other deals. Has Beane ripped off any other player? If anything I think he’s been on the high side with many. I don’t believe that he singled Cook to start being cheap. So it’s likely that this is on Cook/Cook’s agent. GMs can’t roll over every time a player has a fit over not getting what they want. Do it once and they’ll be doing it forever. Or at least until they get fired, which they’d be on the path for.

LeVeon was crazy to hold out the whole season. He was 2 decades too late for that. But I have to admit that he was amazing for those few years. His patience behind the line and vision were crazy good. He killed the BILLS. Going to the Jets was a bad idea as well.

it means i was replying to someone who said this was going to cause some hurt feelings in the locker room
-
And that means what exactly? Of course they're behind him. They all want more money

All true. OJ always played in short sleeves. Someone asked him why, and he said that somehow the skin on his arms could "feel" the presence of tacklers nearby. Sounds, improbably, but that "innate sense" you talk about was real, and there must be some explanation for it. Barry Sanders had it, too.

Bills 4th Round Pick : Deone Walker - DT - Kentucky
Brianmoorman4jesus replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
I can promise you, regardless of what anyone thinks…this guy is not on this team or in the league (at that size) to play anything else. He’s getting this look because he is going to be a 1 tech. Perhaps it’s a projection here but he isn’t playing anything else. -
Not just the speed and shimmy shakes, though both were great, but he could see the field in a way few backs can. It's like he had some innate sense of gridiron geometry and could not only see where everyone was but where they were going to be in the next few moments and optimally picked his route through all those moving pieces accordingly. And sometimes used the shoulder jukes and shimmy shakes to get a defender to move every-so-slightly out of his way. Well, not always "ever-so-slightly." I recall plays where defenders got so tangled up trying to stay with Juice's moves that they fell on their butts. Btw, you wouldn't know it looking at these highlights, but OJ frequently had a spy on him. Somehow, OJ got him out of the picture.

Just play hardball with our 2nd best player and tank the season. Beane says they are in negotiations and have not arrived at the right number. 14 or 15 million for 3 with 35 million guaranteed seems reasonable. Stop undervaluing this great, durable back. We need him for the next three years while Josh is in his prime. There is little chance we find his quality where we draft. Don’t be an efficiency expert, capologist. We overpaid Bosa, the PED Dlineman and added zero difference makers on offense.

really worked out well for Dalvin and his own situation! these backs that play hardball get burned. Just ask LeVeon Bell— ruined his own career!
-
because it's in their best interest that their fellow members receive the biggest contracts possible. now I don't want the Bills to be the team to pay him upwards of $15m/yr either but i def support Cook's attempts to make it happen
-
There is practically a 0% chance Cook sits out regular season games so other than being an annoying news story this changes nothing about our season. The Bills hold all the power here, not saying that's how it should be but that's the reality of the situation. Cook is within his rights to try and force the issue. The Bills will wait it out because they already know the outcome.

Trying to make this about Trump is a bad look but to be expected from the people that control Schefter -
give me 5% of that, I'll feed his family 🤣

I think the difference is that Cook’s earning potential is between 2 and 3 times his current compensation, and while some have point out that people in other professions could never pull this move, people in James Cook’s profession and position are 1 awkward hit in an extremely violent game away from his earning potential to be none. Look at Nick Chubb. Not that anyone cares, but I will definitely be taking the player side in these situations. Get what you can while can. You’re one play away from being done. Just today a Colts (I think) RB was hip dropped in practice by a teammate and rushed to the hospital. 1 play away from earning nothing in the League.

His agent is a joke - actual facts He'll be the next Leveon Bell
-
You must’ve been in some high level meetings like Dunkirk Don!
-
Why should they? Bills have shown year after year they will pay you for your performance, it's confirmed they tried to make a deal and Cook declined, and I want him to be a Bill but he isn't close to 15 a year. Smart decision by Buffalo imo

If I remember correctly, his brother Dalvin started the ball rolling on this renegotiated contract stuff right after the Denver playoff game. (Saying hes certainly a $20 mil dollar back) I'm curious how much James "tactics" and dollar requests are his own beliefs, and how much is influenced by his brother and agent.
