The Best T-shirt You've Ever Owned

Recommended Posts

Concert t-shirt from Lollapalooza in Toronto, 1992...

Part of what made it such a great shirt was the great time I had there...REDICULOUS bands (Chili Peppers, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Ice Cube, Porno for Pyros, Cypress Hill, Stone Temple Pilots, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Rage Against the Machine to name a few!) and a REDICULOUS good time...I was 16 years old, took a few days off from the summer job framing houses, and went up to Toronto with my four best friends from high school in our buddy's mom's minivan. Great tunes, lots of laughs, good smoke, and cold brews.

The shirt was super soft, perfect fit, and other than some frays on the neck and sleeves, there were none of those loose threads that you pull and keep pulling. It held together amazingly well considering all the times it was worn and washed. The print graphics were faded but still readable (that's how I was able to name the bands above!) It also had a few subtle marks of character & experience (a.k.a. stains) which made it even better.

I had the shirt for 16 years (half my life!) and this past weekend I was at a buddy's lakehouse for the 4th of July festivities...I was out on the dock loading up the boat when a friend of mine started goofing off, pushed our other friend in the lake and then came at me...He tried to toss me in, but like a ninja I spun around him and his momentum was carrying him into the water...And in doing so he grabbed out, grabbed my shirt, stretched and ripped it, and pulled me into the lake.

That night, we had about 15 friends sitting around the bonfire, great tunes, lots of laughs, good smoke, and cold brews...Seemed like a fitting time to toss it in the fire and officially lay to rest a great t-shirt.

(A close 2nd is an old school royal blue Sabres t-shirt I've had since college...It was a size small to begin with, then shrunk even more in the dryer...It was the t-shirt I used to give to girls in college when they "slept over." There was something about waking up next to a half naked Long Island girl wearing a blue & gold Sabres t-shirt that really got me "up" in the morning!)

Still wearbale (wore it last night)- Allman Brothers 2005 Tour shirt (still new, I know)

BEST OF ALL TIME (died last year, still resides in closet)- My dad's practice jersey from when he played college basketball at Carnegie Mellon 1968-1971. And when I say this thing died, I mean it really ate it. I always wondered which wash would be its last and sure enough, as it emerged it had finally been reduced to rags <_<

Leon "Dr. Sack" Seals shirt. Used to wear it all the time, great shirt. Also had a Larry Bird Celtics championship shirt that was pretty sweet.

On a side note, is the word "rediculous" an inside joke on TBD? I see it "alot" (another one) and I don't know if it's poor spelling or an inside joke? Anyone? "Noone" (?) ?

Best shirt I ever had, I only had for 1 day & I don't know if I even wore it.

Buffalo Bills XXV Superbowl Champs!

Outside, after the game (we lost BTW <_< ) a vendor was selling Giants Ts for $20, Bills for $10.

I got one figuring it would be a great souvenir.

That night, the hotel room was really bright, so I used it to cover my eyes. It was white as were the sheets.

When we packed to leave I obviously missed it. Called the hotel when I got home, but no one turned it in. :D

My fav shirt that i still have and wear is my Clarkson class of 2003 shirt we got as incoming freshmen. Comfortable as hell, fits great, but sadly, it may be on its last legs after only 9 years. I've worn the hell out of that thing and its beginning to fall apart.

Well you're definitely not the only one, wasn't trying to single you out, just wanted clarification. I am by no means the grammar police, as I don't think it matters on a football forum.

Rediculous postings are the norm hear. Especially alot of the ones that deal with players who have resigned. But common man, it's not like rocket surgery.

I don't know if its my best ever, but I'm a big fan of the St. Francis shirt with the sleeves cut off that I wear during every single hockey game I play. I think it dates back to around 95 or 96, but its only been a part of my hockey gear for about 5 years now. There are so many blood stains on that thing, especially from when I had a gash over my left eye and I used it instead of the jersey for pressure.
