Live by the sword, die by the sword...Brandin Cooks found a way to get off the Saints to play with a better team, and it benefited the Bills. The Slay pickup went the other way. Just cut him and move on before the situation devolves into a bigger embarrassment.

What else would unfold?

Eagles and Slay were clearly tampering. That reporter already knew it.I Forget his name. Jeff laneman?...

If I'm Beane I'm going to the league office and hoping the eagles lose picks

Define tampering here?

Why not put him in the reserve/did not report list? Doesn’t eat up a roster spot, we own his rights and don’t have to pay him

What did Philly do to make the Steelers release him?

The reporter in Philadelphia already said on Twitter, " don't be surprised if he doesn't report to Buffalo"

How would he know?

Slay & Phili were tampering imo

Once Steelers cut him it's not tampering he could've called the agent. He also could've called Pittsburgh. Only 2 teams put in for Slay, Eagles & Bills. Clearly the other teams got the memo & the Eagles knew he wanted to go there. Makes Beane the dumb kid here.

then another theory is that Beane talked to his agent and the agent okayed it and Slay changed his mind. That seems just as plausible. Might also explain how complimentary Rosenhaus’s comments were (ie, praising the Bills as a first class organization).

None of this is tampering if it happened while he was on the wire, right? Or else we're all wrong for saying Beane shouldve talked to his agent and known better.

If he doesnt want to play in Buffalo, fine. He can not report, go on the did not report list, and sit home for the holidays. What's the problem?

Possibly. I'm not familiar with the legal language in the CBA for tampering/ waiver wire communication

Clearly it feels like someone dropped the ball here obviously

There's a lot of anger and assumed feeling by Slay here my man. He wanted out after not being active. Hoped to go to Philly. If not, he gets to spend the holidays with his kids. I havent seen any word of him being upset or throwing a tantrum. Dumb on Beane to take the chance, but that's the game.

I'd keep his rights and let him sit home too.

Anger sure but rough day (found out complete tear of meniscus...) still saying a tantrum to just retire vs going with the Eagles.

Just tired of seeing the degradation of integrity.

The Eagles are a non-conference team with a glut of talent and a very active GM. They can be a good trade partner in the future, and I wouldn't want to make that possible relationship weird over a washed-up retiring cornerback.

That's fine but who gets screwed here?

Being a Gm and and nice guy doesn't work.

Good trade partner lol

If they let a washed up retiring cornerback get between them and a possible trade in the offseason that's on them

This is the NFL it's a privilege not a right ... And the bills are out of there corner in the same spot now because of that claim

No that's why you put them on the reserved list and you let him retire into the sunset... The NFL we don't owe them nothing

we have the rights to Darius slay.. this is the NFL not a charity

If that was the case the Eagles wouldn't have been the only other team to put in a claim. Every other team knew to stay away. They all knew he was going to the Eagles except numb nuts Beane. & Rosenhaus is only BS complimenting the Bill's bc he's got other clients & doesn't want hard feelings effecting him

Or maybe no one else wanted him.  How many teams in week 13 want/need to add an over the hill, hasn't been good in 5 years DB?  I'm thinking most teams would have ZERO interest/need for a guy like this.

This is a bad look. Remember when the bills front office let the USFL talk to Kelly? Lol I think the secretary was obviously naive or whatever the story was. And Kelly never signed the contract
