Christian Benford had a slow start to the season, but since Week 6, he's back to being elite.

Against his coverage since Week 6: 9 catches on 17 targets for 121 yards with an INT and no TDs allowed.

Among the 62 CBs with at least 175 coverage snaps since Week 6, Benford ranks:

- 4th in Passer Rating Against (51.3)

- 2nd in fewest coverage snaps per target (10.9)

- 3rd in fewest coverage snaps per reception allowed (20.6)

This doesn't even account for his run defense which has also been stellar.

Benford got a lot of criticism for his play early in the season, and he deserved it. But he deserves a shout out for getting back to his high standard of play and his contract once again looks like a steal.

The future looks very bright with Benford and Hairston, whose respective skill sets complement each other very well.

His concussion wore off.

I think this really isn't far from the truth.

I am convinced he beat the absolute hell out of himself over the first couple weeks playing like a wildman, and was essentially a walking bruise for the following month. I also wouldn't be remotely surprised if he concussed himself in the Ravens game in run support, possibly more than once, and didn't tell anybody.

between benford/hairston and bishop the secondary should be excellent for the next 3yrs

Bishop's out of nowhere improvement is the storyline of the season for me. It's not like he went from below average to functional, he skyrocketed into one of the best young safeties in the entire league starting the week of the KC game and hasn't looked back.

The Bosa strip sack happened in part because Bishop took the air out of Metcalf's route and covered him up long enough for Bosa to get home. Bishop was hung out to dry with Benford on a CB blitz and answered the bell. Not the best angle but you can kind of see it on the broadcast footage:

Benford was shown on the broadcast 3 times today:

Covering Higgins for like 10 seconds

Sack

Pick six

He's more than back. He's playing the best ball of his career these past few weeks.

I literally could not believe the play happened. So often those types of plays are just tips or swat-downs. He just snagged it right out of the air. I think if he just knocks it down we lose for sure. That drive, like almost all other Bengal drives was looking mighty easy for them. It really just completely flipped the script. It was amazing.

When you watch the All-22 this week, let me know if Chase is going to the house if Benford doesn't make that play.

With Milano late on a bad angle and no safety in the NFL being able to run down Chase, I think he was gone with nobody in the neighborhood but Bishop.
